I just got my BT back and the HCG levels were too low. My GP said it could either be an ectopic pregnancy, I have miscarried or I am not as far as I think.

I was sent for an ultrasound and a blood test.

At the ultrasound, they saw a small sack in the uterus, not the fallipoan tubes or anywhere else. The small sack seemed to have a little dot in the middle which pulsed. I haven't received the full results, but they said it is likely that I am pregnant. I will receive all results tomorrow.

I have not bled at all. The date was calulated by going of the 3rd of October, the date of my last menstrual period.

I took another HPT just five minutes ago and it came up positive but the line is a little fainter. I used first response.

I am confused. Has this happened to anyone before and have they had a successful pregnancy? :(

Yep. I had a positive preg test with slightly low BHCG levels. I then had to have an ultrasound at 5 1/2 weeks as I had had a slight bleed. There was a gestational sac but they could not see the baby. They organised a repeat scan at 7 1/2 weeks and there was a little "jellybean" with a heartbeat. Apparently the bleeding was due to implantation and the BHCG levels rose accordingly with the next test. Has your doctor organised a repeat scan or Quantitative BHCG blood test?

As for doing your repeat preg test, the ones you take in the afternoon will not be as strong as the samples you take in the morning so your positive will be faint but nonetheless, still sounds like a positive.

Usually up till about 6 weeks its a little sac with a white dot (the fetal pole). from 6 weeks onwards you can see a heart beat, another area in the sac that is pulsating away (but its not the white dot).

Wait and see what the results show. Its hard to know at this stage, the dr will have the scan and blood results and be able to tell you more. from this early stage its easy to tell how far along you are, the scan will show all of that. I guess you just have to wait until tomorrow to find out.

Well the good news is that I am pregnant! Just not as far as I thought. Instead of 6w6d, I am more likely to be 4-5 weeks. As it is really early, I have to have another scan in two weeks to determine the exact age and due date.

My hormone levels last week were 480. This week they are 6800, which is good.

Thanks to the ladies for your advice.

Sounds like you might have ovulated late in your cycle. It stops your heart for a bit when they tell you they can't see a 'baby' on ultrasound, doesn't it?

I'm glad that things seem to be going okay for you now :) :hugs:

^ That's what my doctor said. Seeing as it was the first month off the pill, my cycle was a bit funny.

thanks ladies, once again. :)
