not sure if this is the right section for this.....

Just wanted to ask some advice with parents with experience with a 3 year age gap :)

When you have a 3year old child and a newborn do you still use a pram with a toddler seat or will my 3yr old be to old for the toddler seat?

DD never sits in the pram anymore now and she is just over 2. when we go shopping I normally just use a trolley or she runs wild everwhere :hair: but I just wonder how it would be possible to shop with a 3 year old running around everywhere and a newborn bub in the pram

With last two children initially 3yo DD was still in pram and bubs in a sling, then I got one of those skateboardy things for DD to stand on at back of pram when she was too tired to walk.

With my first 3 under 4yo, I had a double pram and 3.5yo DD on one of those horrid dog leashes but it saved my sanity as she was a runner. I hadn't discovered the beauty & flexibility of slings then.

There will be a 2.5 age gap with me. I opted for the baby love sit and stand pram. Its not so much a toddler seat but a tandem pram - cant tell you if it works well or not though cause bubba number 2 hasnt arrived. But its a really neat idea. Having a place for the toddler to sit or stand at the back and also being able to lock the capsule into the front aswell straight from the car....

My toddler is 2 and was out of a pram when I had my new baby (now 10weeks old)

I 'forced' my 2year old back into a pram for things like - in carparks, when I'm in a rush, when she is tired. I used bribery with ice-cream and vegie-chips (from health food aisle). Now she isn't so opposed to the pram and even tries to climb into it

thats what i thought maybe she would start liking the pram again once bub2 arrives. because if i didnt get her a toddler seat i thought she would get jelous if the bub is in the pram and she hasnt got anywhere to sit exept walk along the side of the pram. but than she will be around 3 ish depending on when I get a bfp so wasnt to sure. thanks for all your replies:)

Nope I didn't use a toddler seat, as my 3-year-old was just too tall and heavy to use one. We may have gotten a couple of months use but that would have been it as it they are generally only designed for up to 19kilograms and DD was already 20kilos! So we couldn't justify the cost. So instead when shopping in the early months I would put my baby in a carry-pouch, and DD in the stroller.

Now DD is almost 4 and is generally really good at walking alongside us without too much drama - most of the time anyway!

There's all my left over baby dust.

Poor Daniel is glad this is our last one :o

I had my baby in a sling for the first few months with the 21mth old in the pram or trolley and the almost-3 yr old walking. Then once the baby was in the pram the two older ones walked. They would have been just turned 2 and 3 at the time. I carry a leash in my bag and the older two know that if they run off or misbehave the leash goes on. I've used it 3 times and these days I don't even have to remind them about it. They're both pretty well behaved.

Hi, My girls were 3 years apart and they just learnt to 'hold the pram' . It took a bit of getting used to but worked eventually!:tree:

dd is 3 in 3 weeks time and i hvent used the pram once with her since having bubs i do however had a skateboard thingy so if i have a long walk etc she can hitch a ride and i also carry my sling too so she can hop in the pram if needed :)

We WERE using a pram with a toddler seat but the pram is now broken (the wheel came off and theres a part missing) now we use a tandem pram.
