I've noticed that I have a short LH phase. Usually I O on about cd 18 or 19 out of 28. So I am hoping to lengthen my lh phase by taking vitamin b6.
Has many of you done this? And how quick did it start to work?
Also I bought the 50mg, but am wondering if it's safe to take more than that? Are there any side-effects from them??
Any help or info would be great thanks girls!

As you know I took VitB6. It started making a difference the first month I took it. LP went from 11 to 12 days (not much I know but still a difference) Second month I got my BFP!!!!
As for how much you take. Check the bottle and see what it says but I know mine said not to take more than 100mg a day. Mine were 100mg so I took one a day. I've read that you shouldnt take more than 100mg a day on some websites and on others I've read 200mg.
I went with the 100mg because I was taking prenatals too so was getting a bit more in that. Plus, remember that you get B6 in food so you get some in that way too.
Hope that made sense
My LP varies from 6-12 days which is  given that the LP is the bit of the cycle that is supposed to stay the same!
Tried B6, tried Vitex, both helped to regulate cycles (less variation) but LP was 6 days (constant) on vitex and 10 days (constant) on B6.
Tried them together, LP 10 days (constant).
Good luck, I do know it works for most women!:babydust2:

Thanks girls.
So why can't you take more than 100mg (or 200mg) as some sites say a day? I'm sticking well under that anyway. Just wondering what's so bad that you can't take too much?

Got this from this site http://healthlink.mcw.edu/article/985640580.html
What is the health risk of too much vitamin B6 ?
Too much vitamin B6 can result in nerve damage to the arms and legs. This neuropathy is usually related to high intake of vitamin B6 from supplements, and is reversible when supplementation is stopped. According to the Institute of Medicine, several reports show sensory neuropathy at doses lower than 500 mg per day. The Food and Nutrition Board of the Institute of Medicine has established an upper tolerable intake level (UL) for vitamin B6 of 100 mg per day for all adults. As intake increases above the UL, the risk of adverse effects increases.

Most of the time (not always - some women it does nothing) it increases the length of the luteal phase. It also is meant to help with PMS...

Hi
I need some help working out my luteal phase! I've been thinking about taking vitamin B6 aswell. Anyway I got nearly positives on the OPK for about 4 days and finally got a strong positive on Wednesday 7th. AF has just about showed up today but I would probably count tomorrow as CD1. So how many days is my luteal phase? Do I count Wed 7th?
I'd be interested to know if any other vitamins have helped. I'm taking folic acid and Swiss formula multi vitamins, I think the multi vitamins have made a difference but still not pregnant so obviously haven't made too much of a difference.
We are using AI so need to be precise with the timing.

It's tough to work out if you arent temping as you dont know the day you ovulated. The OPK will tell you its within 48hours or so. So if we say you ovulated on the 8th to be sure.
And if AF showed up today then today is CD1 so I would say that your LP is around 10days.
That is on the short side.
I would definitely recommend the B6. I took 100mg a day.
Hope it helps!!:babydust2:

This is my first month of taking VitB6 (thanks fluffball for the referal!!) I am hoping it works straight away, I usually start spotting at 8 or 9dpo and then AF is here by 10 or 11dpo. I am probably starting clomid next month which should lengthen my luteal phase anways.
But does anyone know can you still take VitB6 AND clomid???

Thanks Fluffball for your help.
Does anyone know if it is ok to keep taking the multivitamins and the B6? The multis have got 25mg of B6 in them.
What is everyone else taking? Maybe I should get some pre pregnancy ones?
Thanks

I would recommend taking prenatal vitamins because if you fall pregnant taking other vitamins it might not be good. Prenatal vitamins dont have anything you shouldnt have - too much vitamin A etc. - so you'll be safe with that.
I was taking prenatal vitamins along with the B6 but mine only had about 2mg... so in total having 102mg.
Good luck

First off, you need to take a B complex with the B6 for it to have optimum impact...
Secondly, if you arent deficient in the B vitamins, it wont do anything to lengthen your LP. I have been taking it for several months without any change to my LP. My advice would be to take it (with a B-complex) and see how you go, but if no change in a couple of months, see your FS or GP.
Thirdly, I think you have to take a MASSIVE amount of B6 for it to become toxic. Drs often recommend taking it for morning sickness, so supplementing with it wont do any damage if you get pg.
Good luck! :)
