Camping with a 23 month old

Hello everyone,

We are giong camping ( caravan park powered site) over Christamas. Does anyone have any tips or suggestions for taking a 23 month old.

We go camping regularly and went for the first time when DS was 6 weeks old. We usually go with a couple of friend who also have kids but the best and easiest thing we do is take star pickets and hession and put it around the border of our camp site. That way the kids can't run on the road or balls don't escape causing them to run after them (danger etc) we open the front where we sit so they can play freely when we are able to watch with our full attention or play with them etc. I would also suggest taking a bike to play with to ride and plenty of balls. Another suggestion is to take a universal plug. We have found it much easier to bath the kids in the sink but there are never enough plugs to go around. Saves lots of time not having to wait for plugs! Also take washing powder and do some washing while your there, that way you don't have so much to do once you get home.

Ummmm..I'll keep thinking...DS is nearly 2 now so it is definitely getting easier now he is older....

Take colouring in books and crayons in case it rains, buckets and a tub to put a bit of water in:thumbsup:It keeps our DD amused for hours:D

Great ideas above - buckets and spades are always an essential. My DS really liked collecting rocks, feathers etc - so we used a special container (ice cream box with lid) for his treasures - also great momentos of the trip. Torches are also fun and books at bedtime (If that's what you usually do - take a few) Good luck and have a great time.
