I have been feeding my son Corby weetbix for a while and to make sure I eat breaky I eat them aswell. I think we are both sick of them. I do alternate and give him toast and yoghurt and fruit and stuff at times but we both just feel like spitting the weetbix back out! I have given him the baby museli and he liked it but it doesnt go far enough ( he does eat 2 weetbix in morning) so was just wondering if anybody knows any adult museli that would be good for him and myself?
Also wondering if there is any sort of mosquito repellent that I can use on Corby? He gets bitten really bad and we are going to the beach on weekend, dont want the poor little man to get eaten alive.

I gave Chloe Sanitarium Puffed Wheat at that age. But I don't like it myself, it has very little taste. Rice Bubbles might be ok, haven't checked the ingredient list. You could also look at the Weet-bix Fruity cereals for a change, though I didn't give these (or Weet-bix) till DD was older.

You could maybe try Cornflakes too.

I add some sultanas to Cj's weet-bix occasionally. He loves that!!
Now he's big enough to tell me what he wants. He can choose from weet-bix or toast..... he thinks he's pretty spesh!!

Have you seen all the different varieties of weetbix on the market lately? Wow they even have multigrain weetbix!:D
we're having a weetbix break too. It's rice bubbles around here now, with chopped banana. I think ds prefers the banana, but it's going ok.

Porridge is a great brekky as it has protein and energy is sustained for longer. Add mashed banana, grated apple, pureed apricot, sultanas...

Thanks for your ideas  . I have tried porridge but he didnt take to it very well. No I havent seen the varieties of weetbix either, will have a look though. Im not really keen on trying cornflakes or rice bubbles yet but Im more interested in the museli I just dont know much about it because Ive never really eaten it. Also I do add yoghurt and fruit to his weetbix sometimes but they are becoming a bore.

Cornflakes are great for kids they are on the same nutrition value as weetbix too. Added bonus is sugar content is low and has a good folate content.
My dd has a choice of weetbix, cornflakes or porridge. I add sliced bannana to the cornflakes as well.
A tip for the mossie bites - this may sound like an old wives tale but it works for us.
Vegemite or anything with lots of vitamin B - I mean eat lots of it ;)
My dd has vegemite every day even if it is only a little bit it helps, we live in the tropics so mossies are a huge problem here.
My dd rarely has mossie bites and I notice if I haven't had any vegemite I seem to get attacked by the little pests.
I know this sounds bizarre but its worth a go.

Will try the vegemite , Ta. He does eat a bit of it but not everyday will ensure he has it on the weekend and see what happens. I just know that aero guard is a big no no for kids. Might try the cornflakes aswell for some reason I though they had more sugar so thanks for that.

Hmmm I would be careful with the vegemite! High in salt! that's my opinion!;)

I actually asked this on another forum as my DD is starting to get sick of weetbix also. She didn't really like rice bubbles and so many of the other cereals are so high in sugar. I thought Cornflakes was too - must go reread the ingredients. I don't want to give her fruit and yoghurt for breakfast as I like to give that to her for morning or afternoon tea. I do give her toast occasionally and have just started her on the weetbix fruity-bits which she is enjoying.
Some of the suggestions given to me where (keep in mind this was for a two year old though):
fruit muffins
cerevite (an alternative to porridge)
fruit smoothies (probably a bit old for your little one)
rice bubbles with vanilla yoghurt (no milk, just mixed together)
sultana bran
pikelets
crumpets
Cheers,
Bron

One great tip i got from my Mother-in-law is the SSS cream from Avon is GREAT for mozzie bites. Its really gentle on the skin (i used it on my daughter when she was a new born). Its in a green bottle and retails for around $7. Its just like a normal moisturiser but has a slight scent of sandlewood which is what i think keeps the mozzies away. Well worth a try if you can get your hands on it.
I have a couple of bottles so if you wanted to try it on your bubs skin before you go on a mission to locate a Avon lady... let me know and ill send you a little sample.

Hi! I'm not sure this will help but I still give DD the baby cereals is this bad? what age can you feed them this until? I know you can start weetbix at 10 months but she had a reaction to milk so I havn't moved on from baby cereal and water, there is a baby's first muesli I give her.
What about those new Nestle Cheerios are they suitable they're supposed to be healthy but I havn't really read the packet, they would be similar to rice bubbles I think.

I just want to thank everyone for their ideas. We are currently on weetbix again but he did like the cornflakes. I will go back to cornflakes again or even try the sultana bran that was mentioned.
As with the mozzie repelent- he got attacked the first night so I put a tiny bit of rid on his feet the next night, I didnt like doing it but had a lot of influence by mums that have been mums forever if you know what I mean. It did work though. I didnt get a chance to try the avon cream but I know alot of reps around here so I am going to try to get my hands on some.
Thanks again all

I would check the sugar content in Cornflakes, I am sure when I looked it was up around 75%. Yucky for little tums.
