View Full Version : 80's comeback (or should they)
U know when ur getting old is when ur child is wanting toys that u remember as a child. Ive seen my little ponies, care bears, pound puppies cabbage patch kids teenage mutant ninja turtles etc on toy shelves. But there are other toys which came out in the 80's which havent made a comeback. Also other than toys anything else that you have fond memories of that either should or should they? My other memories are as follows;
strawberry shortcakes
scratch n sniff stickers
bubble skirts
rah rah skirts,
mullets (john farnham, billy ray cyrus etc)
guys wearing makeup (adam and the ants, sister sister - were not gonna take it)
tight leather pants (mmm jon bon jovi)
sandshoes (white with fluro shoelaces)
fluro choose life t shirts
stone wash and acid wash jeans
mr T
david hasselhoff (night rider days)
hmm maybe thats enough now what can u think of?

Ahhh, but on 2 of your poinst - I saw a girl with a mullet today, and Daniel Johns of Silver Chair wears eyeliner ;) :p
I think the 80s are best left where they were, although I DO miss my strawberry shortcake doll! :p
I can't say mullets bring back any fond memories:no:
But I used to love Holly Hobby and she isn't back:crying:
Strawberry shortcakes has made a come back  They have dolls in kmart, a few dvd's and they're movie was on playhouse disney the other day :p...
On that note, I LOVE my little pony, and care bears. I had all the vintage ponys, I must of had over 100. Then our house burnt down:cool:
So im living my childhood through dd, and I buy her lots of my little pony and carebears stuff :D

I hate the 80's fashion please stay in the 80's  .
The fluoro slogan tees a la 80's style have most definitely made a comeback.... mind you you won't catch me in one!!!
Bring back Punky Brewster I say!!
The day they bring back 'My Child' dolls will be the day I am first in line to buy one.
Permed hair and teased up and sprayed fringes can stay where they belong though. I was a teenager during the 80's and I embraced the fashions. What an ugly decade.

ah, shed, hairsprayed fringes. i'm sure that's the cause of the hole in the ozone layer :D
the 80s are only cool and groovy if you weren't there the first time. and i was. i didn't wear bubble skirts then and i'm sure as eggs not gonna do it now!

My 5yo has asked for a Transformer for Christmas - my brother had those in the 80's.
Also, we've bought a pink Care Bear for our new baby.
I saw a youtube vid the other day, brought back memories of the 80's (as scary as they were )
I definatly don't think that fluoro should definatly stay in the 80's, actually the whole 80's fashion should not make a come back, the thought of it just scares me
I do miss all the kids cartoons, and maybe some of the music, oh and all the toys, i've still got my my little pony and glow worm
what is with guys wearing eyeliner I mean it just looks stupid. I never get these kids trying to be "individuals"
Strawberry shortcake ohh I liked her
stonewashed jeans please god no!!!!!

Ahhh, the 80's. A decade I love. The music especially. Was soo into Madonna, Culture Club, Poison, G'n'R, Jon Bon Jovi etc.
The fashion though, can stay where it is. But l loved it on Bon Jovi though. The hair, the jeans, the bum mmmmmm.
My 4yr old dd is right into Care Bears. Funny how things come back.
This is an embarrasing confession here but I had a pair of mc hammer pants and tried to dance like him too :D:o I used to do the running man bahahahahahaha
I loved the fraggles - especially red and at my first dance I wore a black shirt, black tube skirt with a bright pink fuschia wide bangle, big *** belt with a big *** buckle and matching earrings lol
does anyone remember black kung fu shoes - if you do I had white leather ones :o
what about jellies the shoes anyone have those?
I loved strawberry shortcake and my sister had my little ponies lol
I had lace fingerless gloves like madonna and thought she was so cool lol
i think we're alone now doesn't seem to be anyone around now - dp is sayin doesn't need to be anyone around lol i could remember the lyrics and when i told him he started singing and yells out Tiffany!
Ahh, the 80's, I have many fond memories of that time, but not for the fashion or the make-up, blue eyeliner and mascara, me thinks not! However I loved the the music..... especially adored all the New Romantic bands and you can't go past the movies, Pretty in Pink, Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller's Day off, Valley Girl, Lost Boys, St Elmos Fire, Less than Zero, so many!

Ah Labyrinth, nothing like David Bowie in too-tight pants, although skinny jeans on skinny men are making a comeback, along with eyeliner - could you ever date a man who wears tighter jeans than you do and more eyeliner?
I still remember *ahem* more roxette lyrics than anyone needs to :o
Tucca-Tuccas - the one toy that had children all over the country rushing to the ED for a plaster cast. (Remember them? They were the two hard plastic coloured balls on the end of a string that had the ring in the middle. You held onto the ring and bounced the two balls together until you had a rhythym going then flicked them upwards to make the crack-crack-crack sound. Then added an extra crack if you stuffed up the momentum and one of the balls bounced off and hit your scaphoid bone. )
My neighbour had a pair sitting in her toybox a few weeks back and said they had come in a showbag they bought at the Perth Royal Show????? Thought they were banned years back. You used to drive around the neighbourhood and see them hanging off the power lines where kids had chucked them in frustration.
Whatever happened to hypercolour t-shirts?

Hyper colour. OMG I saw some Bonds singlets in an underwear shop the other week at Harbour town on the Gold Coast.
I love 80's music, the cartoons and my girls now have my old Cabbage Patch Dolls but the fashion is a big no no. Have you noticed the big fluro slogan shirts at places like Supre.
Even the old jelly shoes are available in BigW at the moment.
Did anyone wear the cut off frayed denim shorts and the big smiley face T-shirts?? I even had a matching bandana!! Not to mention those love plastic earrings and black plastic/rubbery bangles.
Oh the 80's good memories ... when children could really be children. Mud pies, elastics, tiggy, no such thing as playstation, internet or mobile phones.
Kids grow up too quick these days. My step daughter who is 6 is already asking for a laptop!!!!
