View Full Version : How long to keep sterilising
Hi I was wondering if anyone could tell me how long I have to keep sterilising my son's bottles in Miltons solution. He is almost 7 months now. Thanks for your advise.:smiliedance:

i stopped steralising around 8 months i think... he was putting eveything from the ground into his mouth so i thought they would have more germs than just a washed up bottle so i stopped steralising...

From memory I think my CHN told me it was fine to stop sterilising when bub's was 6mths old, although I did it till about 9mths.
I agree with Cobysmummy re the germs, it kinda defeats the purpose of sterilising.

We stopped at 6 months after she was rolling all over the place on the floor and was putting everything in her mouth.

Hi
With my DD I sterilised till she was 12 months.
My DS is 3 months now and I dont sterilise anything. I just put it in the dishwasher. I do boil water though.

i stopped at 8 months.. when they are crawling around and puttin everything in sight in there gob :p
just rinse the bot in hot soapy water, and sometimes i'll boil the kettle and let the bottle sit for a few mins
I was always told just to use hot soapy water. Apparently babies can end up sicker if you steralise too much, coz they aren't building up an immune system properly.
And yeah, everything goes in the mouth so I don't worry too much about it. DD is fine too!
I do draw the line at the dunny brush though.... ewww.... :shame:
