Hi!

I was hoping people may be able to give me some advice. DD is now 6 months old and has been a perfect sleeper since 1 month old.

I have wrapped/swaddled her since birth but recently she has been getting her arms out at night. It seems to me that it may be time to stop swaddling/wrapping.

For the past few nights DD has got herself out of the wrap and then started to get up on her hands and knees & belly crawl around the cot. She then cannot settle herself and is waking up a few times a night. Last night I had to resort to feeding her which I REALLY DON'T want to go back to doing.

Please can anyone give tips or advice on transition from wrapping to putting to bed without wrapping....and then keeping the bubs asleep without crawling.

 lejay, what about those sleep positioners? That should keep her in one spot.

I know you don't want to wrap, but maybe you could leave one arm out? It's harder to remove a wrap with just one arm in it :)

I hope you can find something soon..

Personally, i found 6 months was too young for my DS1 to go to sleep unwrapped. He wasn't ready till he was almost 1.5 years. He did it himself.

One way of ensuring she doesn't get out of her wrap is to wrap her in a cot sheet.

My DS2 is only 5.5 months old and is already an escape artist. He gets out of a cot sheet. So i'm using a single bed sheet and wrap his arms under the folded part of the sheet and then wrap the sheet around his body. He doesn't get out!

The other thing you could try is a sleeping bag. It encloses their legs, just not their arms.

If you do try to wean her off wrapping, i suggest starting with the day sleeps. What ever method you use...do it for the day sleeps first.

Goodluck!
