Hi
my son is 4 weeks old and i am having some feeding issues.. from about 8am till 12:30-1 he feeds every hour to hour and a half. then he will sleep for about 2.5-3 hrs.

when he wakes he will feed the same until he is ready for bed which is some time between 9:00 and 10:00. during the night he feeds much better.. waking every 3.5-4hrs.

Does anyone know why he feeds so much... during the day.. ??? it cant be because of a growth spurt (or what ever its called) because he has been doing this sice he was born)

i cant cope feeding him constantly.. especially as i have a daughter as well how i feel is constatly being left out.

I am breast feeding by the way and he gets really bad wind as well. How can i change his feeding patterns/habits???

Sounds normal! Give the ABA a call if you want some advice from people who know. It is commonly called cluster feeding, to chock him up so he is nice and full. As for the woind, have you looked at your diet? You may be unknowingly eating stuff that makes wind.. there are lots of foods that cause wind that you would never even think about. Will he fee in a sling? Then you can get stuff done and he can feed away as he likes..:smiliedance:

A friend of mine had her baby always on booby but she actually got told that this is normal for a lot of babies & to try her best & continue breastfeeding for as long as she could! i dont really have any advice but i want to give you a hug:hugs:

Sounds very normal to me! My baba did that till about 3 months:)

But I know it is very hard and exhausting but just bear in mind that it wont be forever:thumbsup:

Hi

I have had the same issue.

I find the times between feed increases if she's had a good long undisturbed sleep.

If I was you I would be looking at the sleeping area.

Is it not dark enough?
Is baby too hot or cold?
Is there any form of stimulus in the bedroom that could be waking baby?
Is baby wrapped?

I was also told there needed to be a radio in the room turned up and off the station. I found this drowned out noises that could startle her.

Apparently at night time or when she is being put to bed avoid eye contact because this is also a stimulus.

Are you following the feed play sleep pattern in the day and the feed sleep patten at night?

I hope this helps you it made all the difference to me.:yelclap:

I remember that feeling, but rest assured, it does settle down. It usually takes up to about six weeks for your milk supply to settle and for you and bubs to get into a routine.

I know it feels like it will never end at the time, but now I find myself thinking, "You can't have finished yet..." Your bub will become much more efficient as he gets older and stronger.

Just remember their tummies are very small at this age, and so need to be refilled fairly often.

I would give it a little bit more time before you worry about trying to change his 'habits', but if it's still worrying you then, I second the ABA for advice and support.
