Don't know if anything actually exists but I am wondering if anyone has come across anything that has helped their family survive colic.

I am pregnant with my second child and my first suffered from colic quite badly :banghead: (actually we all did!!) I tried absolutely everything I could get my hands on at the time but it was the worst 3 1/2 months ever and I am dreading it possibly happening again:eek:

I've tried.................. the whole sling thing, infants friend, gripe water, colic relief, infacol and some others which I just cant seem to remember at the moment... nothing worked for us and what made things worse is that colic would strike about 11pm nightly so it was early hours of the morning before we all eventually settled down, which then caused issues getting DD to sleep at a decent hour once the colic had passed..

As excited as I am about having another gorgeous bubs I'm also petrified of going through all that again and this time I'll have a toddler to contend with as well.. so if something worked particularly well for you please let me know, I want to be prepared this time...

I would see a Dr. IF the problem arises. Keep in mind it may not! :fingerscrossed: You could try a Chiropractor, look at your diet if you are breastfeeding.
Keep in mind some of the colic remedies on the market contain nasty stuff and they do not normally work. Some contain atropine sulphate, some have sodium bicarbonate (yes, bicarb!) alchohol, dicyclomine and some have sedatives.

I too had a baby who was colicky up until the 4mth mark & it was horrendous & rathe offputting to say the least but it sounds like you were also like us trying anything possible to "fix" it when we dont really even know what causes it yet so the only option is to keep trying different things to find something that at least "eases" it so to speak.
We also tried changing bottles & teats as we ff due to bf not working for us so we found this helped a little so again you can only try what is possible you could try taking bubs to see your CHN or g.p for advice as we also found bubs had silent reflux added into the mix so sometimes there is an underlying cause.
Good luck my thoughts are with you :)

The things that worked for us were:

Seeing our very gentle and good chiropractor

"The Rainbow Brand, Baby Soothing Syrup" - mixed with water worked every time - absolutely fabulous. Its a homeopathic remedy for colic, wind and teething. You can buy it from health food shops.

Changing your diet if you breastfeed. I found particular colic-inducing foods including, milk, cauliflower, brocoli, garlic, onions, anything spicy. I pretty much avoided them completely.

Your next bub may not neccessarily have colic. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you (and for myself! LOL!) :hugs:

Thanks everyone for your feedback:hugs:

There were a few things mentioned which I had not tried previously, so I'll keep them in mind. I did find that I had to modify my diet during our last bout of colic and it did help a little....

Hopefully it's not something any of us will have to deal with again :fingerscrossed: !!!
