What type of entry way do you have to your kitchen? With ours instead of trying to poof each cupboard we just proofed the whole kitchen with a baby gate. There is no actual doorway, its just between the bench and 1 of the cupboard doors....i hardly use anything thats in that cupboard but if i do need anything, i just open up the left hand door and reach through to the right.
If you need better explaining, i can take a photo. Just PM me :)

Most real estates/landlords will allow you to use the normal childproofing things as long as you let them know beforehand.
If they don't : - when you leave the property, remove the screws and then fill the holes with a little wood putty in the same (or similar) colour as the drawers etc.

We have vertical handles on our cupboards so were able to get safety locks from spotlight that just click onto the outside. I also have a drawer full of all my plastic things and i tell the kids thats their drawer, it doesnt take too long before they are only trying to play with things in that drawer.
I'm using these things (http://www.dreambaby.com.au/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=80). just on our cupboards, I figure it won't be too hard ot remove them afterwards.
But your landlor dor real estate should be okay with you adding things.. give them a call and ask.. especially if you have kids listed on the lease, surely it's some sort of safety thing.

We have these things similar to zip ties and we have linked them all together as we have 4 draws ontop of each other. Hence if he pulls one he pulls all at the same time and cannot get his hands into the lower draws or use them like steps. It doesnt look too pretty but for us it is only short term ...
Oh they look like these things (http://www.dreambaby.com.au/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=7)
I use the same multipurpose latches as Seekrit and have never had a problem with real estate agents over them. They prefer them to be used instead of the screw ones. My old kitchen had 4 drawers plus 10 cupboards that Bug could get to (another 4 she couldnt) so I just used them on the drawers and the bottom cupboards and when I left that house I used eucalyptus oil to get them off with no problems in doing so, and no damage to the cupboards. I also had one on the doors to the bathroom vanity.
In this house I have one on the crockery cupboard and one on the bathroom vanity as Bug is slowly learning now that they are off limits.
Good luck.
i use ones that i got at bunnings
they use that command adheasive stuff, so just pull off when we leave :D
