Any mums (or dads) out there that can give me the heads up on what age/stage I should be getting my son to wipe his own bottom. He is a couple of weeks away from turning 4, and has the toileting situation well are truely mastered. (yes it does happen..)
I am not sure if this is something I should be looking to introduce now or much later  Also (this may sound stupid!) but should he wipe his bottom whilst sitting on the toilet or stand up and wipe it.
anyway any advice would be appreciated

I would start as soon as possible that way he has mastered (or started to) by the time he goes to school, which can save embarrasement. I work in child care and I find that a lot stand up as it is hard for them to get paper and balance themselves on the toilet while they wipe but let him try both and let him choose as it will make him a little more confident.

Hi
My daughter is 3 tomorrow and she is now wipeing properly most of the time now. Right from the start I would get her to wipe then I would wipe after her to make sure it was clean. Now she wipes and I check. She wipes sitting down but do what ever is easyest for your son. Good luck

Good news - I did the most basic thing - I asked my son if he would like to wipe his own bottom - he said Yes please - I showed him how and has been doing it all week. Cheers to you all, I guess it was that easy. :)
