I've asked these questions to a thousand people a thousand times, but I'd really like more opinions. My baby is close to 5 months and is breast fed every four hours, even through the night. His schedule is: feed at 6/6.30pm, bath and settling in his bassinet (asleep by 7/7.30). He has feeds at 10.30, 2.30 and then he is awake at 5.30am and has a feed an hour after this(not a problem for me - I'm a morning person). I've been concerned about whether he should be having these night feeds, whether he should now be settling himself (I'm not cuddling, just patting/singing/shushing). I'm also using a dummy (not me - him!) - should I try to get rid of this now before he's a dummy sucking teenager?
What are your bubs doing/did your bubs do at nearly 5 months?

My three older ones varied, dd9 was sleeping through at 12 months, ds was sleeping through at 6 months and dd2 was sleeping through at 9 months, Both girls we breast fed but ds was only bf till he was 4 months old.
I think that each child is different, and i know some 18 mths old that still wake for their nightly feed :) I know that i found it hard and it did tire me out but they soon started sleeping through, most of the time i only got about a 7 hour stint though so they would wake at 4am
About the dummy up to you really i used it with my 2nd and 3rd, my first didnt have one didnt need one really and so far havent used one with this bubs, personal choice if it helps then use it :)
Hope someone else can help

Perfectly normal for him to still be feeding during the night. If he is waking it means he is hungry, you should never deny him a feed. Breastmilk is absorbed fast.
Sounds like you're doing just fine to me

My dd2 feed about every 2-3 hrs till i stopped bfeeding , You baby will eat as much as they need ;) sounds perfectly normal to me :)
Sounds normal to me... my DD fed much more frequently than 4 hourly though  She also fed alot in the mornings, to make up for the longer sleeps overnight.
Just keep listening to your mumma's heart and your baby's cues. You are doing a top job

DS was having 2-3hrly feeds at that age. He still wakes for a feed now at 18mths.
Dummy got the toss at 9 months, I just stopped giving them to him, and he didn't complain.
He's only slept thru the night a handful of times since birth. We co-sleep after his first wakeup during the night, so he can help himself and I can get on with sleeping.
