oh dear ... :hugs: never EVER pay too much attention to your baby's breathing ..

Jack was born via c-section and had fluid on his lungs - I became the BIGGEST paranoid freak ... sigh .. I watched every breath and drove myself MENTAL ...

if your baby has breathing issues - they will occur all day (least in my experience ... and what friends have told me .. note -not medical advice ..) - babies breath in weird ways when they sleep .. and they most certainly ARE NOT quiet .. they snort, whimper, snore, sniff and whinge ...

:hugs: dont freak out ...

Get a 2nd opinion if you are worried but it does sound normal dds 2 weeks and when shes awake and asleep she will breath really shallow then shes breathing heavy again the taking quick gasps etc...all my others did it as well and its quiet scary but normal.

Maybe get your self one of those sensors for peace of mind but another opinion doesnt hurt....do you trust your gp?

Hi and congratulations on your bubby

Whilst it is certainly normal for babies breathing patterns to be somewhat irregular, it is something that you will be concerned about no matter what anybody tells you.

If you are really worried, call Health Direct, or go back to your GP - if only to ease your mind........ :hugs:

Do you sleep bubs on his back / side ?

If you are going mental (like me - I was such a freak...) I would suggest buying a breathing monitor - I bought an Angelcare one which was great. They are quite expensive (around $200 I think) but are pads you put under the cot mattress that monitor bubbies breathing, and sound an alarm if he doesnt breathe x amount of times per minute ..... It was great for easing my mind and letting me get some sleep without wanting to go in DD's room every 5 minutes to check she was still breathing.

Anyway - good luck with everything.....

I am sure bubs is fine, when my Ds was born i was told not too worry about all the snorts, gurgles, loud breathing, etc etc while they are newborn as they are learning how to breath, may have mucus, fluid on the lungs etc all totally normal. They even hold their breath for a few seconds at times, also normal.

I too still got super paranoid tho.. ahh the joy of being a new mum! LOL

Your son is fine, try not to stress (easier said than done) :hugs:
