Our Bub is now 6.5months old - from 7 weeks she has been a good sleeper at night - going right through from her last feed at night to 6/7 in the morning. I know people will say how lucky - but you have to realise she does not sleep during the day - at most HC will have 3 half hour naps - which makes for a really long day.
Well now she is still only have a very small amount of sleep during the day, but waking up at night - she is not hungry - I think she is just over tired.
Long days and now very long nights...
Has anyone else gone through this - any suggestions?

I hear you Catherine2 :hugs: !

DD wasn't sleeping during the day either but was sleeping through the night and yes, it definitely makes for a long and exhausting day and not being able to get anything done. Don't get me wrong - I know how lucky I am to get solid sleep at night (usually from 9.00pm to 7.30am).

DD is 12 weeks old tomorrow and has only started napping during the day in the past week. Basically I thought I'd try and slow down a bit (rather than going to appointments, shopping, etc - I wasn't doing this every day but it's hard to establish a routine) and see if I could concentrate on getting DD to have sleeps. I would watch for the first signs of tiredness (yawns or inability to 'concentrate') and I then give her a rock, pat and sing to her and that seems to work. It's working quicker now too, but they are stubborn little beings who fight sleep... ;)

Good luck!

A month or so ago i decided it was time to start a "routine" its not a strict routine its just basically eat, play, sleep. After his feed he usually has a play for around 90 minutes, after which he starts to grizzle so i pop him into bed, sometimes he plays for a bit, sometimes he goes straight to sleep, then he sleeps for around 1-2 hours, wakes up and its time for a feed again.
I wanted to get out of the habit of rocking him to sleep so i put him into his cot and when he started crying i popped the dummy in his mouth and patted his bottom until he was calm, then walked out of the room, i always leave the room while he is awake. It took about a week but now he doesnt need the dummy most times and usually falls asleep on his own after a short play:thumbsup:
