Hi all,

I know this question would have been asked many times.. as a matter of fact I vaguely remember a similiar thread when I first signed on BubHub a long time ago..

I have recently moved to NE 5092 area, and my son will be ready for Reception in 2009 and I would really appreciate some feedback, good and bad, regarding schools in the area, to aid in my search for a great start to his schooling.

:fingerscrossed:

Of particular interest, I am in the Heights zone so would love to know some ppl's experience with that school, if any.

Due to a rare throat condition, my son is a little behind on his speech and therefore other developments have been slow.. a school with extra support for learning etc, OHSC and sports/music etc would be fantastic.

Thanks all, looking forward to reading your replies! :hugs:

Hi Kari  Good to see you back on BH

I went to The Heights but I went in Year 7 so i'm not sure what the Junior Primary is like. But from what I remember, it was a great school (although at the time I hated it)

I think Nan might be the gal to ask as 1) she's a teacher and 2) her husband went there too

For Junior primary I went to Modbury Primary and that was also a good one. You are definitely in the right area for decent schools

It's a bit of a change for you, weren't you down south?

Year 7, yeh everyone hates school then!

Good to hear I'm in a good area, its scary enough thinking my little man is not long of starting school, let alone not knowing any gossip on the local schools...

Bit of a change, yes. I was down south, then west, and have finally settled NE. My family was originally from up here before my Mum moved to the country with me as a babe. So we are gradually returning to our roots..

I love it here, hills views from the back patio, wildlife, little back streets, oh so pretty! Just have to learn my way around...

I remember most of the BubHubber's were NE'ers when I signed up, no excuse not to attend the local meets anymore!

Uni exams finish mid next week, and then I'm a free(ish) woman ready to re-socialise!

Yeah I used to live in Modbury North but now i'm living in Port Adelaide (we moved because of DF works down here and to be closer to his daughter)

Good luck deciding which school to send him to, as I said The Heights is pretty good, I know it's not going to be easy to see them off to school on that first day. I'm sure i'm going to shed a few tears :crying:

I'm leaning towards the Heights School.. and given that we're in the zone and are automatically accepted on enrolment, that's a good sign.

But would still appreciate any info on the school's rep's, and any other local's I should keep in mind. It's such a big decision, and that has surprised me!!

My eldest little girl attends Golden Grove Primary School, she is 6 and therefore in Reception.

I can highly recommend this School and if you have any questions about it, would be pleased to help answer them.

Hi Kari  long time no see. My eldest daughter is starting at Keithcot Farm in January.....it's at Wynn Vale.....maybe a bit far for you to travel though. It's got an excellent reputation.

I've got quite a few friends who send their little ones to Golden Grove Primary too, they rave about it.

Goodluck

Still a while off but I am planning on sending DS to Keithcott Farm Primary as we are just around the corner from it and I have heard only great things about it!

Hi Kari,

My mother is a teacher in the North East area, she has taught at and has heard about others experiences with many schools in this area. She has also taught at the heights for 8 years in the past. If you want to talk to someone about it, Im sure she'd be happy to talk to you over the phone about it.

Let me know if you're interested.

Ardtornish - is also an excellent school with a brilliant reputation.

Ive also heard great things about Keicott Farm but I heard that their lease runs out in 2013 and then Kings Baptist is taking over the property.

3 of my cousins went the the Heights all the way from reception to 12 and I never heard a single complaint from them but they were quiet kids. I have heard a few stories of hooligans but I think you will get horror stories with any school.

Also Redwood Park primary on Mile Rd is meant to be fantastic. I tend to judge a school on the respect the children have for their uniforms. I mean if the school doesnt inforce such an easy request as to wear a uniform how will they enforce children to do school work or behave? This is another reason why I think Redwood Pk would be great.

Im sending my DD is Tyndale. Its a bit out of your way but all the primary schools near my area (5109) are not that flash.
