This is going to sound strange I admit, but how do I know if top teeth are close to erupting?

The reason I ask is that when MJ's bottom teeth were coming up, the gum was fatter/swollen & we could see the teeth under the skin.

BUT I was told today that the top teeth come from the front of the gum rather than the edge

Where will I spot the tooth first, the edge or the front?

Thanks
RB

Hi RB,

Yeah thats true, you actually see them in the gums...
Jack has just cut his top teeth... Jack's took a little while to cut and we have had a pretty hard time with them...:banghead:

Quite possibly they are on there way..
Jack got a bit of a cold and high temp about a week before they cut... He also got an ear infection, which has been horrible...Not sure if it is related to the teeth or not though.

Hope MJ copes better than Jack did..

You'll see them in the gums. And they will become whiter the closer they come to erupting...and you can feel the hardness of the tooth when its about to erupt.

They do look funny coming out front ways :) Takes a bit of getting used to!

They do look like they are coming out the front of the gums but when they actually cut you feel them underneath where they should be. Good luck the front teeth are awful ones to cut, my DS had a hard time.

I musn't be very observant because I only noticed Jade's top front teeth from the bottom of the gum where they came out. :/

Quick question, can teething cause congestion? MJ isn't very stuffy, but she has been snorting a fair bit the last couple of days.

Not that I noticed RB. But Andrew is as healthy as a horse  so rarely gets anything like that anyways.

Dont' you just love the joys of teething!

I hope i'm not jinxing myself here, but MJ has NEVER been sick, other than immunisations making her off for a day or two. No teething symptoms either. Maybe its just due to the weather change we've had

Jack got a blocked nose and then a cold when his top teeth were coming..
Have heard that the top teeth are worse than the bottom and lots of kids get colds and stuff (not sure how true)

Hey RB,

Little dude is a tiny bit congested too, and he is teething. He doesn't seem ill at all, just this congestion. I wonder if it is the teething causing this  .

Thanks for the info.

Lukaelmo, sounds like MJ. Just makes a funny snorty noise sometimes during the day & night. Oh well, time will tell i guess. I'll just keep my eye on it.

Thanks again
RB
