Sleep positioners and new babies?

Question! I have from DS a used (by DS) sleep positioner. Now i know that it is best that they dont sleep on the same used matteress but what about re using a sleep positioner? Would it pose the same sids risk as using an old matteress. Ds was a refluxy baby too.

That information about used mattresses is not correct. Babies can sleep on mattresses that are used. If you go to the SIDS website it says that they are ok. Therefore I'm sure a sleep positioner that has been used is ok too.

I don't think sleep positioners are recommended - I was going to get one anyway but DD is nearly 4 months old now and hasn't rolled over yet so I didn't buy one.

I assume the SIDS recommendations for a new mattress is because the mattress could be saggy and/or not meet the current standards. If it were from another household, it could also contain smoke fumes if the people were smokers.

If it's your own sleep positioner, I'm sure it will be fine.

I would use it !

We had one for Boof but it got ruined which is a shame as i really need it now for Squeak !

I know they arent recommended but having a reflux baby does change things.

Thats correct but having a reflux baby often means you are advised to sleep baby on their side so having a sleep positioner means you can stop them from getting to their tummy.

For us Squeak sleeps on his side during the day & often on his tummy at nite by advice of doctors. This isnt recommended by SIDS either but reflux can change things when it comes to recommendations eg. starting solids early etc.
