Anyone watching/watched Operah today??
What an awesome idea!! Will definately be doing this when my little girl is old enough.

For those of you who didn't see it, I think it was Jerry Seinfields wife on there and she purree's up all sorts of vegies and 'hides' them in food the kids do like, but also still puts a serve of veggies on the side for when/if they do get interested in them.

Puree cauliflower in mashed potato
Puree sweet potatoe in the macaroni cheese sauce.
Puree cauli in the egg yolk of devilled eggs was it?
Brocoli in the crumb on oven baked chicken.

I like the idea, but I am not too sure about it, I mean how much vegi, do the kids get if you are only dipping your chicken in a puree:confused: a very thin layer, but some of the other recipes seemed to have a bit more vegies so it is worth a try (when the time comes of course, DD is too young to refuse my hand:devil6: )

I hope not. Wouldn't be suprised though! I want one for xmas, it will come in so handy. Those chicken nuggets she made looked so yummy and the kids couldn't tell the difference. MAGIC!:babydust2:

I wonder which book shops will have it.

I am blessed to have a child that loooves vegies, even brussel sprouts which is rather odd.

But she did have good ideas if you have problems with your kids not eating vegies.

Looks like a great idea!... I clicked on the link on her page about her appearance on Oprah, and it linked to several of her recipes including the chicken nugget and chocolate cake ones!

I caught bits and pieces of it - and liked the ideas...But its nothing new to me. When I first started living with my DH, his idea of having vegies with dinner was having a side serving of baked beans. I used to 'hide' vegies in things like spaghetti sauce - puree a carrot and a zucchini and put then in, he never noticed until about 6 months later when he saw me making it for the first time. I got good at hiding vegies from him, so have a lot of similar things that I do with Claire just as a matter of course now.

sk6 - you might find your DD's love of vegies changes as she gets a bit older - Claire used to LOVE vegies too - but she's now your stereotypical fussy toddler...It is really frustrating sometimes!

Apparently this book is very similar to another book called "The Sneaky Chef" too....which you can find information on here. (http://www.thesneakychef.com/)

She is 6 and loves vegies, have to con her to eat meat sometimes, bribe her if she has some meat she can have more vegies. She eats raw vegies like they are lollies. I know I am very lucky.

Oh, sorry, should have read your signature a bit more closely :o

I WISH DD ate her vegies now - I'm sure it will come back though! :fingerscrossed:

Clever idea I agree. But it's certainly nothing new. Mums have been doing that kind of thing forever!

She was just smart enough to write a book.
