Me again. Just a quick question. I am just waiting for my pocket nappies and am wondering what the best thing to insert them with. Hemp or microfleece. I have heard that if the nappy has a fleece liner, then I shouldn't have a fleece insert, therefore making hemp preferable.
also, is microfleece the same as micro polar fleece?
Any advice?
People often get confused between microfleece and microfibre. Fleece is the liner or cover fabric that is not absorbent. microfibre is a highly absorbent fabric used for boosters.
I generally recommend people use a combination.
Microfibre is VERY thirsty and absrobs very quickly, so is good for fast wee-ers!
Hemp is thirsty, but absorbs more slowly.
Microfibre acts like a sponge, absorbing quickly, but when it is full and compressed is squeezes out any liquid in it, which can cause leaks.
Hemp doesn't do this.
So, I like to use a hemp booster with a microfibre booster on top. that means that the microfibre absorbs the wee quickly, and the hemp is there as a back up, to absorb anything that is 'squeezed' out of the microfibre.
does all that make sense?
You shouldn't need another microfleece liner in a pocket nappy, as the idea is that it has the liner and cover built in. So the middle must be absorbent, either hemp, cotton, or bamboo or a combination with microfibre...

Iv'e been wrapping a microfibre booster in two hemp boosters from the weewuns. Trim, yet absorbant.

That makes sense with the microfibre. Can I make these myself? Where do I buy them from?

I buy my microfibres from Big W. They are in the cleaning section and you can get 3 in a packet for $3.60 or about that. They are labeled cleaning microfibres and come with a white one, a yellow one and a green one.
Re. the BigW microfibre, when I bought mine, I found that the green one ran TERRIBLY when I washed it. Can I suggest you wash it with dark colours before you use them and wash them with your white nappies and towels. Thank God I pre-washed. I actually use the green one as a cleaning cloth, and the white and yellow in nappies.
