My son has been sleeping with us full time since he was about seven months. Since then we have laid with him until he has fallen asleep, up until a week ago. Noah turned two just over a month ago and since then has developed in leaps and bounds. So much so that he told my husband to go away one night when he was putting Noah to bed and fell asleep on his own. Since then we have done the usual routine of reading some books, having a cuddle and then asking him if he is okay to put himself to sleep to which he nods yes. He even did this for his day sleep. So for all of you out there who may think that your child may sleep with you forever or will never be able to put themselves to sleep I wanted to let you know about my experience. My little boy is growing up!! He is obviously ready to start taking new steps to his own independence. I am so glad that we have gone through the sleeping process so calmly with never any crying or upset, children do things in their own time when they are ready.

That's excellent, my DS has also been sleeping with us since he was 8 months and is now just 2, i hope he eventually sleeps on his own with no fuss too. :)

Oh that is wonderful!!! :D

Elise has been sleeping with dh and i her entire life until about a month ago. She now sleeps on a matrass on the floor in our room...we are yet to make the transition to the bedroom but if she wakes up in the night she never wants to get into our bed, its always us going to lay back down on her bed for a cuddle and back  she goes :D
