Apparantly sometimes your milk can dry up a little or change taste though,, I am actually hoping this happens (and fairly soon) because I would like him to stop before the next one is born. I am keen to let him wean himself and if this helps then great! Hehe, I once wanted to experience feeding two at a time but have changed my mind the older he gets:rolleyes: Its up to him though in the end:kiss:

YES!!!

I am currently 7 weeks pregnant and still bf 12 month old ds. My gp told me I would need to wean straight away and put ds on toddler formula:thumbsdown: She also told em I would have to take a calcium supplement. So then i went and did some research as this just didn't sound right to me! I discovered it is perfectly fine to bf while pregnant and that provided you are eating properly there should eb no need for any supplements. I have heard that once your colostrum comes in bub will wean themselves as it just becomes too much hard work!! I also am hoping this will happen as I'd prefer not to tandem feed. If not, I will probably actively wean ds around the 6 month mark. I don't want him to think he is being 'kicked off'

Apparently it's pretty common for bf to affect your fertility (as I know from 1st hand experience  ). I read an interesting section about it on kellymom.com - you might want to check it out if you're TTC. My GP reckons about 25% of women can get pg while bf, but I"m not sure where that statistic came from!!

My friend fell pregnant whilst breastfeeding her 6 month old daughter. She continued to breastfeed for a little bit then she found that Tahlia was turned off her milk.

I'm another one! My son is just over 2 and although my supply has reduced, he's persisting. I'm hoping to tandem feed to ease the transition for him into having a sibling.

Hey Ffrenchy! News to me! Congratulations!! :smiliedance:

I was breastfeeding my DD until just over a month ago, (now 22 weeks pg)

I was fine with it, and started topping up with formula just after I found out I was pg as DD seemed to get distressed at feed times. (yes I could have worked on it naturally but it's such a lot of hard work sometimes).

I finally gave up after getting a run of colds and common infections which go hand in hand with pregnancy, as my body could not cope.

Good luck with everything.

I just fed right thru a pregnancy, and am now tandem feeding, I think Tyler was simply comfort nursing from about 20 weeks or so, but it did not deter him, and now he is back in booby heaven, with milk spraying everywhere! :)
