Darwin Doctors??

Does anybody know of any doctors who bulk bill here , or any doctor you reccomend regardless? I dont like my doctor who gave me my results she was a blunt little cow. haha.
I am so confused also on how the public system works?
When do i go for my first ultrasound and who organises it?

Doctors who bulk bill are a rare breed in darwin, which is why the emergency ward is always soo full.

I went to a couple of doctors at stuart park surgery. I used to see the guy who owns it, not sure if he still works there though as i know he was doing research for a long time for a book insted. My parents went to stuart park for years too. The guy who delivered my 27 year old brother worked there untill recently too. I never had a bad doc there. But the are $$$.

When you see a GP he should refer you to the hospital i think and you book in there too see a OB and then your first ultrasound will be organised, normally at 18 weeks if your healthy. And its normally just the one unltrasound too. You can alsways pay to have ultrasounds at the private hospital if you want more for the fun of it. Maybe you don't even need a referal, just book in at the hospital, they will probaboly see you around 8-12 week mark. But u will need to make an appointment before then. You can choose to see the midwives or OBs if you go public, i highly recomend the midwives, less waiting time, you can have as muchtime with thm as you like, much friendlyier and have lots of time for you. You also then get to meet most of them over your pregnancy so you will probably have met the midwive who helsp deliver your baby at least once. I hope this makes sence.

I agree, the midwives are just wonderful. Also you don't have to wait as long as if you would if you went to the OB. We go to the Cavenagh Medical Center which has been the best i have found so far but this is just in my opion. There is one Doctor that i know of that bulk bills and his name is Dr Dayaratne but he is a Peaditrictian sp? and works either in Palmerston or in Nakara you don't need a referal to go to him either.

Both my pregnancies i went to the doctor just the once before they refered me onto the Hospital. So you should need to make heaps of appoinments.
