View Full Version : ? about birth certificate
If an adoption took place in the 70's what would the current birth certificate read?
Do birth certificates list the birth parents?
does the birth certificate change?
or does an adoption certificate just take it's place?
birth certificates can't be post dated?

my dhs certificate (born 1971) has his adoptive parents and he was adopted at 6 mths
So, a person would only know that they were adoped if they were told? or if a medical condition arose?

DH didnt know he was adopted till about 2 years ago he found some paperwork at his mum and dads place and he also had his original birth certificate (his current birth certificate that his always used has no mention of name change or anything on it it just states his adoptive parents as his parents) among those papers from his actual birth parents my mum was the same and shes in her 50s now, she found out she was adopted in the same way so i gather yes you wouldnt know unless you were told i imagine today is a little different though
Thanks guys very interesting and a bit sad that a family history could be 'wiped out' that way:thumbsdown:
