View Full Version : Children who were colicy babies: Do they always have issues?
My 2 year old son was colicy for the first 6 months of his life, and he seems to still have occasional unexplained stomach pain even now, and he will vomit copiously every now and then for no particular reason (not obviously sick, and totally fine after vomit)
I often wonder if he has some wierd kink in his stomach or bowels which continue to give him occasional discomfort.
And this is going to sund wierd, but he has a brown spot in one of his eyes (they are gorgeous blue) and i often wonder if I took him to see an iridologist whether the spot may be something to do with his tummy troubles:detective:
I'd love to do it, without saying anything, just to see what the outcome was.
I'd be going to the doc and having this investigated or seek a referral to a paediatrician.
It does sound if it's an stomach/intestinal issue...
There definitely should not be pain or vomiting for no reason...
I have heard of iridology and it's certainly not harmful so I'd be curious too...
I am about to start chiro and bowen therapy on my little man who suffered horribly from colic and still does from the reflux... He's on everything he needs to be but I'm trying alternative things now...
Good luck with everything...
Definately go to the doc though....

Claire was a pretty colicky baby and now, it turns out, has a cow's milk protein and lactose intolerance. I'm also starting to suspect she's not terribly good with eggs or soy - she doesn't vomit, but she has copious amounts of extremely offensive diarrhoea if she has milk products.
I don't put a great deal of faith in iridology, TBH - but you do what works for you, I say :)

I always thought & was always told Boof was just a colicky baby but now that ive had Squeak i can honestly say he had reflux & no-one picked up on it !
They said he had mild reflux 'possibly' but i now know better & no wonder we had so much trouble with him etc.
He also now cant have cows milk like Tam's DD he doesnt vomit from it or anything but has severe tummy pains & really offensive bowel movements ! So we stick to rice milk for him.
I would have him checked out whether that be by an iridologist ( it cant hurt we have one attached to our g.p ) or if you cant figure it out then by a g.p.
Good luck its never fun when they are uncomfortable !

A naturopath that does iridology would be great. One that is experinced with chn. We saw one in Syd and she was great. Eyes don't lie.
Also, it sounds very intolerance like to me. Can you get in to see a good paed. who can talk to you about your DS's history and discuss possible changes in his diet to help him.
What are his bowel movements like?
Mrs Little & Sons.
His bowel movements are generally OK, but occasionally he will have one which smells very acidic, or one which will be very greasy and sticky IYKWIM.
I do limit his dairy, thinking it could be that, but I should probably get it investigated properly. My post may have made it sound worse than it is, it only affects him every now and then, but it still sucks!!
Thanks for all the thoughts :)
