I am terrible with this, i started buying things before i even got pregnant
Ive got toys, a few clothes, a playgym, a bouncer, soooo many samples of things such as lotions, baby wash etc.. that i have picked up from various places, and also endless magazines and catalogues.
I just cant help it, Im so excited to be able to buy things for my baby. I cant wait to go shopping for the big stuff (cot, pram, other furniture). I got in trouble off my MIL for buying too much stuff and that there would be nothing left for gifts, but i dont care, its my first bub and im excited too!!! Im not leaving all the fun shopping to everyone else, i want to do it too!
Anyone else like me?

Haha good on you! It really is so much fun shopping for your first bub.
I'm waiting to find out the sex of this bub first...if it's a girl,I won't really have to buy anything ...because I already have everything, and I mean EVERYTHING from DD... I went a bit mad when I found out she was girl.:D
I'll probably still buy a few new things though.
If it's a boy, well,I'll have an excuse to go mad at the shops again!

Hey Ravenskies, you are due the day after me! :)
I am going to find out the sex too, so i have slowed down a bit on the buying until i can choose things that arent unisex.

no its not crazy. its so exciting its hard not too, i suppose i havent mostly because i am so busy and so tired so when ever i have any spare time i sleep at the moment. havent been near the shops except for groceries lol. when i was having ds i was so excited and couldnt wait for the 20 week ultra sound to find out the sex so i bought both boys and girls outfits that i liked and kept the receipts so i could return the ones i wouldnt need after i found out

Katie I am like you i just want to buy buy buy!!
I havent bought much yet though, DF and I went shopping on Sunday and bought 3 jump suits in yellow, white and green. (unisex colours) We also bought a cute little trackie pants and jumper set.
My mum put a porta cot on layby at Target about two months ago, so before i was even pregnant. And she wanted me to have an emmajulunga pram, because she loves them. (she had one for my two younger brothers and it is still going 20 years later) I told her i like them but there was no way DF would let me spend that much $ on a pram!!!
So her and Dad have bought it for us! (she has bought it already, crazy women)
So i have a pram, a porta cot and some clothes.

I kept everything from DS... he is only 16 months... So I wont be buying anything until we find out the sex... and then only be buying stuff if bub is a girl... I can go shopping in the girl section!! There is always so much more to choose from in the girl section!!!!!!!!
Hi Girls
Havent bought anything yet, dont want to jinx us.
But, Im very annoyed at myself, about 4 months ago I sold my Emmaljunga pram that was in mint condition on ebay for $100. Im kicking myself now...We paid $900 on special for it.
But I decided to sell it to jinx myself into falling pregnant, so it worked in that way.

As we already have 3 boys, we have absolutely everything and more that we will need for this bub.
We won't be buying any new clothing, etc until we find out what we are having, as the tonnes of clothing I have for the boys are still in great condition. We will need a new car, and another car seat, but as for big purchases....we're covered!!

I will have to buy everything brand new again as i gave away DS's newborn clothes to friends hes nearly 2.
However we are not finding out the sex, so it will be whites/greens & lemons again.. haha
I've brought a Bassinette of ebay & i will buy a brand new sheets/mattress for it, thats exciting because with DS i borrowed one, we will also buy a new car seat/bouncer.. & loads of other goodies.
At the mo i can't bring myself to buy any clothes dunno why... haha maybe after the 12week scan.
When its ya first bub its soooooooooo exciting buying things, now i hardly get the time to browse at newborn stuff. DS is not always a fan of shopping.. haha
But it won't be long & DH will say not more stuff!!
sorry long post:ecomcity:

Katieflutterby - Definately a good idea to start early!!! I am waiting to see what the sex of the baby is first, but thankfully my sister has her second baby boy about 9 months ago, so by the time my baby is due i will be able to have everything of hers, the pram, cot, car seat, change table/bath, breast pump, bottles, rocker, etc, everything like that which is brand spanking new! So that is good, saves money for me. And if my baby is a boy i can have all her clothes and toys. If it is a girl one of my best friends is having a baby this december so I can have all her clothes too. It just makes it that much easier, especially since i am still living at home and want to save money to move out for bond and rent etc, so all the freebies i can get the better and at least i know it is in good condition.
But I dont have any baby products like powder etc but i am sure i will get that at the baby shower. I am going to stock up on all sizes of nappies though, when i see them on special just buy a few boxes.

Hi everyone
I'm like sk6. Don't want to jynx myself even though I am ITCHING to start buying. I've got a tip though, which a pregnant girlfriend of mine passed on. Put big value items like prams, etc on layby and only pick them up just before the birth. This is because the warrantee starts from when you take the product home. So, if you are taking it home when you are 3 months and it only has 12 months warrantee, it will only be covered for the first 6 months or so of baby's life!

Gee Mumkc.....Thanks...I never would have thought of that! My parents are buying us a pram for Xmas....so i might just mention that to them and see if they can get it later on!
DH and I are going to go out this weekend and buy a special outfit. We arent going to go baby crazy until after the 12wks, but we wanted to be the first to buy something for our bub...and knowing our families, we have to get in quick! lol. My mum has already bought me about 8 maternity outfits...she has only known for a week...bless her! Also, our 12 wks is up mid december, so it will be just in time for the post Xmas sale....yey!
We already have a cot...its a family cot that my grandfather made. it was my cot, and my brothers, and now to be my babies. its such a beautiful one! We are going to get a few modifications done to it though to keep it up to date with all the latest safety regulations etc. but cant go past it!
