I'm cooking up a paella tonight, and this one calls for prawns.

It said to devein and deshell them...which I've done... but also says to leave their heads and tails on.

Tails I'm fine with... but leaving the heads on? I don't really want big long whiskers (or whatever prawn feelers are called) weaving in an out of my rice, with their beady little eyes looking at me.

Anyone think I can just tear their heads off and cook them headless?

I would take the heads and tails off. It is just easier to eat without having to do that yourself. I think it is sort of strange the recipe suggests leaving the heads on.

i would take them off too the last thing you want to do is be pulling heads off during your meal perhaps they just say leave them on for show?

I decided to tear their gross little heads off... I keep getting scared they're still alive and will bite me! :laughing:

I'll leave their tails on... because I eat them! :eek: :laughing:

I first did it to gross DP out... and now I just do it because it's not that gross (when they're hot and cooked that is).
