Hey,
im thinking I want another baby but im worried this one might be premature too. My last bub was born premature because I had an infection, so im not sure what the risk is of the same thing happening next time.
Has anyone else had the same experiance? I would love to know.
Shell.
I haven't been in that situation, but i am sure if you have a chat to your doctor he will be able to tell you the chances of the next bubs being premmie. By the sounds of it, you were just unlucky last time with the infection.

Generally an infection would be a one-off thing and you're not likely to have to go through that again.
Hugs to you I can totally understand how frightening it must have been for you :hugs: All the best.

I agree chat to your gp i am sure they will monitor you more closely if they know there is a chance. With dd2 i nearly had her at 28 weeks thankfully they stopped it but with this pregnancy they monitored me closer, gave me steriods as a precaution etc i nearly had her at 27 weeks but as they were aware they stopped her coming early too
I do know people whohave had premmies and gone on to carry full term.

Thanks heaps, now all I have to do is decide if I want another bub or not. lol.
i've had 3 early bubs, all because my waters break early
after my first, I was determind to have another one, and even after my pregnancy last year I was determind to have another, even though I knew there was a high risk of my waters breaking early again, I was just lucky that my last pregnancy I made it to 36wks,
your reason for your baby's prematuraty probably won't happen again, so there is a high chance that your next baby will be born at term, you might ever go over due

My first was 9 weeks early (2lb12) and when I fell pregnant the second time I was absolutely scared out of my mind of having another premmie, thankfully I made it to 35 weeks this time and although it was a very traumatic situation when she was born (I was VERY ill) she was perfect.
third time though I was even more scared and things werent looking good when from 21 weeks i was told I could 'deliver any day now' with pre-eclampsia.... amazingly I made it to TERM 38w6d for my scheduled csect though, it was a REALLY long trip getting there with 21 hospital admissions of 1-3 days each time plus spending almost every day 9 - 5am at hospital for test after test for the last 8 weeks but WE MADE IT
We are now TTC again and have been warned we will not get to term again (scheduled csect would be at 36 weeks if we made it that far)
Its a VERY hard decision to make but you are doing the right thing by researching first.
Go talk to the doctors who handled your pregnancy last time and ask them what they think your chances will be.
Before we started TTC this time I went and spoke to my surgeon to make sure she thought it was okay for us to have another bubs and in 2 weeks we are going back again to ask a few more questions, shes a great help :D
best of luck!

Ive had 2 prems 1st was at 35wks because of pre-eclampsia and the 2nd was at 32wks because I didnt have anymore room we found out while in labor with #2 that I had a heart shapes uterus They didnt think to tell me before hand and Im lucky I made it that far as it could have beeen worse
Im not trying to Scare you but in my case its a physical problem that i cant carry to term but with an infection 2nd time round they will monitor you more closely and try and stop it from recurring
ie: antibiotics, test ect and as others have said its usually a 1 off thing and you go on to carry healthy full term babies
Best of luck:D
