I was wondering what cleaning products everyone uses for different parts of the house and what they highly recommend for different purposes.
some of the product is use are: glen 20 bathroom foam ( it's so qucik and easy)
Kitchen and for bathroom benchtops etc - spay n wipe multi purpose
shower screens - i have a specially made up solution from my mums work window cleaner that really does the trick though is very strong.
Dusting i use - pledge electrostatic dusting cloths ( i highly reccomend this one, lovely citrus smell)
if anyone has anytips for cleaning floating floorboards as well that would be greatly appreciated.

I use selleys(sp?) sugar soap grease and grim fighter for almost everything, windows bench, bench tops, stove tops, shower ect ect...demestos for the loo and pine o clean bead spray stuff for the shower as well as the suger soap.
I use bicarb and vinegar for almost everything
Earths choice for the dishes:)
Are you ready :ecomcity:
I Use...Pine O Clean Bathroom Foam on bath, sinks, taps, spouts and inside shower screens, CRC Glass cleaner on mirrors and outside shower screens, Coles Brand Antibacterial wipes for the toilets (including Monty's) and kitchen benches, Earth Choice Muti Purpose Spray (LOVE the Smell) I use it everywhere!!!
I have those bleach thingies hanging in the toilet bowls for when you flush... and Glen 20 spray for yucky smells!!
I also have a layer of glass on my dinning table which I use the CRC on too!!!
Our whole house is brand new floorboards my husband has been laying on for the last year, finally sanded and pollished just before xmas (only one room left to do!!)
So on the floorboards I use a Sabco Cloth that you wet and put on a stick, no chemicals :shame: (he is very protective of his floors) but it is fantastic!!! The Wet area's are tiled and I use Earth choice floor cleaner with mop,
I Looooove cleaning products!!! :smiliedance:

I use what ever is cheapest. I think vinegar would be ok on floating floorboards. I know the last house I lived in had normal floorboards and vinegar and water was used on it and it was sparkling! (Obviously the cleaning was not done by me ;) )
I am an Enjo girl. I love it!! It is so quick and easy and there is no chemical residue to have to wipe off! Also, I have saved heaps of money as I now only buy washing powder and d/w liquid.
My DS used to get asthma and that is all gone now there are no chemicals in the house. (I used to LOVE spray and wipe:rolleyes: )
I even went as environmentally friendly as using bicarb and vinegar for washing my clothes. And you know - it works!! But there is no 'clean' smell and I just missed it and went back to my radiant:p

I'm with Kells - definitely Enjo. It can be rather expensive - but in the long term is very economical. I have been using it for 4 years, and have not replaced any cloths yet.
All is required is water and the cloth - no chemicals. There is a white paste similar to the stuff you get in the tubs at the store - but it is called marble paste (made of orange oil and crushed marbles). Sounds harsh - but it definitely is better than the chalky white lily stuff. And I guarantee it takes even the black scuff marks off the walls!!!

Speaking of earth choice stuff ( I'm sure someone was) has anyone bought their laundry detergent recently? I CANNOT get the lid off either of the 2 bottles I just bought and I even tried a bottle at a different shop today and couldn't get the lid off it either. Is it just me, or is there something wrong with them? (I have been using it for a few yrs now with no probs  )
LOL that is weird:confused: I have some that I bought recently and it is fine:) Very strange

maybe I should get you to see if you can open it then!! I'll be so embarassed taking it back to Coles and saying "I can't open it, can I have my $ back please" :o Oh the shame!!
ENJO here, Except for the toilet i still use toilet duck in it, otherwise evrything else is with a ENJO fibre, I do put a capful of tea tree oil in the water bottle, give's it a nice smell and also does disinfect.
I use enjo for pretty much everything, and bicarb and vinegar for the tougher stuff.
For the toilet, I rub a piece of lemon over it and leave it overnight before wiping it off. And I pour a cup of vinegar in the toilet and flush it the next morning.
For laundry I use Earth Choice for all our clothing, linen, and DS' clothes too. It's fantastic and the best I've found economically.
For fragrances in a room I use essential oils. They can dispel lots of odours and I can choose the fragrance depending on how I feel that day. (Hint, don't use the cheap fragrant oils though, use the real thing. Fragrant oils can be nasty on the respiratory system, some have even suggested they might be carginogenic if used for too long).

We elimanated all chemical products from the home, aside from wahing powder, a few years ago. When DS#1 was 2yo I bought Earths Choice washing liquid (laundry) and after two washes he developed eczema on his face. It took two months for me to identify the culprit as I believed it was an earth-friendly product. He had never had it before and has never had it since I stopped using it. A few years age I bought Earths Choice dishwahing liquid (forgetting our earlier experience) and after a few days i started developing dermatitis on my hands. Never had it before or since. That was it-all chemicals out. It was then I developed my own range of products (skin & hair care, household etc..) and started my own business (whole other story). Anyway, one of my best selling products is my household cleaner and it is so simple to make I thought I would share my 'secret recipe' with all you interested bubhubbers. It is similar to the marble paste from Enjo but a whole lot cheaper.
You need a tight sealing container about 250gms size.
250 gms bi-carb soda
6-7 mls vinegar
70 mls water
6 drops lemon essential oil
6 drops teatree e.o
6 drops geranium e.o
6 drops mandarin e.o
6 drops cedarwood e.o
These essential oils have anti-bacterial properties and also smell divine in the kitchen, but they are not the only oils you could use. You could combine any of the above or the following- lavender, lemongrass, eucalyptus, orange, lime, tangerine, pine...basically any essential oils that you feel right using in your own home. As said in another post though, make sure you only use high quality Essential oils-fragrant oils are pure chemicals.
I always add the oils and the vinegar to the water and then add the liquid to the bi-carb in a bowl. Stir thoroughly until it forms a really thick paste. Pour into your container and seal. In a day or two it will be set enough to use. It should have a small amount of water sitting on the top-this way it won't dry out.
When you are ready to use it, just wipe your cloth over the paste and apply to surfaces. There are no nasties so any residue on table tops or benchtops is totally harmless. You can use this paste on any hard surface, tiles, laminex, lino, stainless steel, on the walls, cupboard doors and the list goes on. The only surface I would avoid would be unsealed timber.
Good Luck!:chef:
PS PM me if you need any more info.

Ok for all of you who are worried about the vinegar smell. The smell is nonexistent once you add the essential oils. If you didn't know it contained vinegar you would never guess. Hope that clears that up.

thanks everyone i might try that bicarb cleaning reciepe. on page 1 i think someone asked what floor boards i have? I have floating laminated floorboards, im in a rental
Vinegar only smells briefly - once it's exposed to air the smell dissipates.
We have floating timber floors and I was advised not to use any oils or other cleaning products. I use a steam mop, which is fantastic. No products needed and it brings the colour out beautifully.

I use nutrimetics cleaning products for everything except the floorboards - I use hot water and vinegar for them. I don't like to have my little ones running around on chemicals from the floor as most of the nasties in chemicals are absorbed through the skin on their feet!!
Nutrimetics has a full range of chemical free cleaners so I use them for the bathroom and washing clothes as once again the kids come into contact with them so I don't use chemicals.
We have a dishwasher and I use finish powerballs for that but the kids stuff doesn't get put in, it gets washed in chemical free dishwashing liquid (nutrimetics again)
I sound like a rep but I promise I am not - I just find it works well and won't harm my littlies!! They have one particular that I use a lot that you can use for clothes, dishes, bathroom, washing yourself - just about everything - so it works out pretty reasonable to buy it in bulk  and it works!!
If I have to use bleach I use white king and if I have to use a stain remover on our clothes (not the kids) I use preen dual power - it is great!! For the kids clothes stains I use a mix of and hot/warm water and lemon juice for its bleaching properties or my wonder soap.
A little off topic, but how do i know what type of floor boards i have? :o I can see the sun shining through them if that helps

Are they old...original floor of house??( wood) or floating real wood ???or floating lamanex look wood??? Lamanex ones have a hollow sound when you tap on them where as real wood is softer... If they are the original flooring of the house there would be gaps... cause real wood moves... any help????

I think they are the original wood floor, very creaky. Its a rental & the owner has only had it for a few years. So should i just use vinegar & water? What ratio?
Thanks

Just a tip - the best thing for floorbaords is hot water and metho. That is straight from the mouth of a guy (DD1's godfather) who lays floors and polishes floorboards.

A couple of capfuls in a bucket of water was the oh so precise mix he gave me :fingerscrossed:
I probably put a 1/4 cup of metho in a 10L bucket of hot water.
The metho evaporates pretty quickly so shouldn't be harmful to bub. The hot water helps it "dry out" really fast.
