Hello there,
Just wondered if anyone else has had or suffers from and eating disorder
I had an eating disorder since i was eighteen and have been through a lot, I am now fully recovered ( 2 years ) but wondered if anyone else has had one and how they got on and are doing.
Its a subject not often spoken about but if i can advise any one or listen to someone who is suffering then i'm here if you need me:thumbsup:
Thanks XX

when i was 15 and 16 i suffered anorexia and bulimia, i am full recovered but now at the other end of the scale:banghead: . it is tough, I found you get all this attention when you lose weight so you keep on losing it to keep getting the attention. once i met my dh i started to gain weight
Thankyou hillbaby5 sweetie so much!

Hi
I myself have never suffered from an eating disorder, but have a very close freind that has battled it since she was 15. She has now just turned 37.
I have seen the worst of what it can do to all involved, and my friends oldest child who is 14 tomorrow still remembers things that she has done. Thankfully she is having a good stint at the moment and has been well for a few months.
She is one of the lucky ones, and has her full family and friends to support her. Fingers corssed though.

Thankyou for your reply
Its a terrible thing to go through and i hope your friend continues her good run:fingerscrossed: It can take a long time to get over and is very confusing for other people to understand...I suppose thats why i posted this thread because if i can help or just listen to some one who has it then it can only help the next person:)
Sometimes you cant speak to family and friends about these thing.........Shes lucky to have friends like you:hugs:
ThanksX

La62, its very brave of you to share your story - thank you! and you are right it should be something talked about, not brushed under the carpet.
I haven't personally suffered from an eating disorder, but my sis had anorexia just after our parents split up.
It is a terrible illness and should be treated as such (an illness). My mother & I were like detectives, constantly watching her and she became very good at hiding food she had pretended to eat.
Thankfully she got (good) professional help, it took a while but she fully recovered about 18mths later and now some 15yrs on is great, she will never go back there, but she will always be conscious of her weight.
Hi Peace angel,
Thankyou for youe reply.
Yes i am still very concious off my weight and i suppose its something that i learn to live with, i try and behave with my eating pattern i'e i am strict because i have to be as i dont want those feelings to creep back.
Hope your sister continues to be in good health :D and yes this type of thing is often swept under the carpet and it shouldnt be
Love
La62
Yup, I battled and overcame (only throught the grace of God) both anorexia and bulimia:smiliedance: I went form one to the other for about 10 years...
I would love to be able to help and support young girls (and boys) through these terrible afflictions one day
Oh and peaceangels, mine also kicked in after my parents split up:( although in hindsight, there were patterns there from way before that....
I had anorexia for 3 years from age 16. I had no self-esteem. I now have a healthy attitude towards food and my body. It is like it happened in a different lifetime now, so I hope that this gives others some hope.
It has left me with a great awareness of the need to foster a positive self-esteem in my children.
