Finally shes here J . Totally didn’t go to plan or didn’t go as expected but all is well so that’s all that matters. Sorry it’s a little long J
Rang hospital Tuesday morning to confirm it was ok to come in at 730am, sitting on tender hooks half expecting them to say no but all was good. I was freaking out in the car all the way stupid me has an anxiety attack, I felt horrible when I left as the the other kids were all still sleeping as mum come down the night before, I felt like I wouldn’t see them again for some silly reason. Get to hospital it was pretty much full steam ahead, they showed me to my room straight away (nice big double bed to sprawl out on!) and put me on the CTG to make sure things were ok. Around 830 my ob come in, broke my waters, put a bung in my arm ready for the drip if I needed it, he said I was still 4cms gone and it should be quick. I ended up going for a walk to the cafeteria as I only had a slow leak so thought I would stay on my feet as long as I could in the hope it would get things moving for me. Went back to the ward around 9am and the midwife pulled me aside and said we need to do bloods we don’t have a recent blood count so they got that sorted she rushed them off to get a count done. I still didn’t have anything happening just light niggles as I had been for weeks! The middy started the drip and said we may as well get things moving it was only on 40 though so only caused a few longer contractions. Around 10.30am the midwife come in turned the drip off and told me to lay down and not move, I am like umm whats up? They got my bloods back and my iron count was 70 apparently they like you to be around 120 she said and she said if you were 80 we would let you go but anything under that is bad so we have to get some bloods on standby for you as if you bleed you will be a goner, I am like WTF?? Kinda freaking thinking all these horrible thoughts so I just laid there not moving till they got some blood in for me. Finally around 11am they got some down for me and had it on standby for me. I was so p!ssed off at this stage thinking OMG this is so not going to plan I thought I would be in and out but figured I needed the blood and best to be safe encase I did have a heavy bleed after having bubs. DH was freaking out people were texting me constantly and I didn’t want to say anything as we didn’t want anyone worrying.
They started the drip again, it was so nice to be able to get up and walk around again and it soon started things happening. The contractions were quiet long but I managed to breathe through them even though they did bite a little. They stayed about ten minutes apart for two hours then they were getting to the stage where I just got on all fours and rocked with each one. They were about 5 minutes apart but still didn’t cause me to scream or anything I remember saying to DH wow this isnt that bad!! LOL.
I remember hearing the women in the next room give birth, dh freaked, she was screaming for about an hour and I am thinking OMG what am I doing surely its not that bad LOL about half hour after I started getting really intense contractions I was sitting upright now dh behind me and I was squeezing the life out of his hand each contraction, they really hurt I was begging for pethedine at this stage but after examining me the midwife told me to wait, I got nasty then J She told me that it was nearly time as I was at that silly stage, I am like I am in labour I am far from silly I said it ******* damn well hurts, give me peth and bubs will be out in 5 minutes. Still she had some method she felt would help, it just hurt more (she was like manipulating my hips from behind, so I said a few choice words and figured that I wasn’t having peth!
Bubs was taking a hell of a long time to move down, I could feel her there but it was like she was stopped by something I remember with dd2 I no sooner felt that and she was crowning and out in ten minutes so it was bizarre having this feeling. I got to the stage where I could feel her there ready to crown but I was too scared to push as it was that in between stage it freaked me out, I was screaming at DH telling him to pull it out LOL and telling him I couldn’t do it. He was really good I have to say, he just kept saying look at me , you can do it, breathe you can do it which was really encouraging. After about 40 minutes of this feeling the middy said you can start pushing when your ready, I still didn’t want to push, but I breathed through each contraction and felt that I had no choice and bubs was moving down further so I just went with it. About 20 minutes of pushing I feel this sudden urge and I just screamed through it I hear a pop and bubs heads out, what a relief!! One more push and her body was out, the first thing I said was thank f**k for that I am glad that’s over LOL. They put her straight onto my belly and she screamed her head off which was such a awesome feeling. About 15 minutes later, dh asked what we had, we didn’t even check he said oh it’s a boy the nurse corrected him and told him that was the cord and it was a girl so had to laugh.
The nurse told me she took so long to come down as she was heading down on a diagonal angle more so posterior but not fully due to the angle, her hand was on her shoulder when she come out so at least I know why she seemed to feel stuck now. Thankfully I didn’t tear though just a slight graze. Shes got a bruised tongue and red strawberry like marked nose apparently they say that her nose and mouth were resting up hard against my pelvis so this should heal soon and they said it should fade either way shes adorable.
Shes tiny but so alert healthy and a great set of lungs!! I cant believe I did it without the drugs.
About half hour after having her and delivering placenta I started to feel a little weird and faint and I was bleeding a little more than expected so they decided to give me sa blood transfusion. It wasn’t a huge bleed but enough to be concerned so I spent the next 4 hours getting a top up i gather a bag of blood means i was pretty low. my irons still only 90 at the moment but they are going to monitor me over the next few weeks.
Overall I had probably a 5 hour labour 3 hours were bearable and I could manage the contractions the final 2 hours was utter hell! Storms birth wasn’t like this hers and blazes were sooo quick so perhaps my expectations were a little high!!
Little Indie Sabir (yes we have a name as of today) arrived nice and safely a tiny 2.666 grams Well not that tiny but shes very little!! on the 30th October!! Ironically she was born on FIL and MIL 52nd wedding anniversary as well which is special !!
Shes feeding well now my milks come in shes more settled and is going 2 hourly now. Honestly I thought we were having a boy so it was a huge surprise to have a little girl its kinda cool knowing that all storms little clothes were worth keeping now! Plus all her DIY stuff I made her when newborn will get used again which is even better!
Thanks for listening! Glad its over (the labour) and thank you for all your kind words and support and congratulations and good luck over the last few weeks too!
