That is SO cool Gemma. You'll be completely run off your feet soon chasing her around everywhere! ;)

It's so cute when they do stuff for the first time. Eloise (5 mths old) sat up by herself for the first time the other day and we were so excited, she look REALLY cute when she topples over and giggles at herself too. :p

Cheers

Yeah for Grace,
That's wonderful news Gemma, only us mums would understand the excitment you feel. It's great when you expereince all their "firsts" that's one of the reasons why I'm dreading going back to work. Keep on walking Grace.

 Has anyone done what I have done and just gotten into the routine of putting baby off to sleep on the boob? Have I built a rod for my back or what? Georgia is still waking up every night (she is 10mths) twice on average and will only resettle after I have given her a feed , she gets most upset if she doesn't get this.

Also, Gemma how fantastic for you that Gracie is walking, how exciting. I had a dream last night that Georgia was walking and had some teeth (she still has none - which on reflection is a good thing while breastfeeding) and I was just soo proud of her and she was just stoked that she could finally get around.

I used to feed Jakob to sleep on the boob while I was still breastfeeding. It was great but I used it as a last resort. It does work for others quite well though. If it works for you, and you and Georgia are both happy, continue.

The problem with feeding to sleep with me was that Jakob never learnt to settle himself. He was used to falling asleep while feeding. It was OK if he stayed asleep while we put him to bed but if he woke up we were at a loss and got into a bad cycle.

Jakob rarely wakes up during the night and sleeps from 7pm to 7am. Last night though is a different story. Teething :( He woke up twice in the wee hours of the morning. What did I do? Get his trusty bottle and tried to feed him back to sleep.

This probably doesn't help much but I try and put Jakob down for a nap/sleep without feeding but if he is upset or difficult to settle I want to make him happy. I don't think it's a black and white issue. :)

Hi everyone,

I used to feed Grace (with bottle) if she woke, but I stopped that when my Doc said I was giving her too much milk. So, now I try to catch her before she wakes...it's usually around 3am...shove the dummy in and re-cover her and she will sleep through. But if she wakes I can't get her to go back to the cot, she will be asleep in my arms but when I put her down she wakes up, so she ends up in the bed with us. I don't usually mind this but she can get really restless and I can't sleep when she is like that. Occassionally I can put her back once she is asleep but not always.

I've gotten into a bad pattern with her because she wont settle herself and she has started not sleeping through, so I have to cuddle and sing to her to get her to go down for both her day and night sleeps. She was never like that I don't know what happened...I can't even really remember when it started...maybe teething??...maybe when I went back to work...she used to go down by herself during the day and we were getting there at night, but definatly not now, and from about 4mths she was sleeping a 10-12hr night. If I leave her in the cot and do 'control crying' she gets so hysterical she vomits. She still sleeps in the same room with us (we have no other rooms to give her) so it can't be separation anxiety. I just wish she would sleep through like she used to and settle herself.

I know we were suposed to be giving Kerri ideas, but I could do with some too.

Before Jakob was born we bought the CD "Music for dreaming" it plays 7 lullabies without a noticeable break. It is put on a repeat cycle through the night and is played all through naps and night time sleeps.

I am a terrible sleeper and found it great for me whilst he was sleeping in our room. It made bedtime feel lovely too.

I do find that if the end of his sleep cycle coincides with the beginning of the CD repeating (a small break) he can wake up. Jakob has always been very good at sleeping through but am unsure as to whether it is attributed to the CD.

There are similar CD's out. "Peace Baby" & "Sounds for silence" are a couple I can think of. :)
