I have been trying to toilet train DD but we are getting nowhere fast.
For a while she was sitting on the potty every morning after her shower but that has stopped. She wont tell me when she has peed or poohed let alone telling me before she has done it so I can put her on the potty.
I have been putting her in knickers with no success yet; every time I ask her if she needs to go potty she says no then two minutes later she is peeing in her knickers. She is nearly three years old; surely she knows by now when she needs to go potty. Is some of this sheer laziness cause she doesnt want to stop playing ect? Or is she still not ready?
Help please!!!!!!!:banghead:

Hi

I am toilet training my DD, she just turned 3 last week.
For months I was putting her on the toilet and the potty and she kept saying it doesnt work.
A couple of weeks ago I left her in undies and kept watch and saw each time she had to go to the toilet. She would jump up and down and say she wants a nappy. I would put her on the potty and make her sit there until she went. She would sometimes sit there for 15-20 mins crying because she didnt know how to let go, she just kept holding onto it. After she did it we would have a little party and she would get special stickers. She went like this for about a week and now she will sit on the potty and wee straight away and not cry.
She still doesnt go to the toilet, she says it doesnt work. I think I might just have to get her to sit on it until she wees.
The only problem we have now is that she only goes on the potty, so when we go out I have to put her in pull ups because she wont go to the toilet.

You could try watching your DD to see when she has to go to the toilet. You can tell if she is holding on if she is crossing her legs or jumping around. If she is not doing this and just weeing without realising it yet, she may not be ready and you might like to try again in a few weeks.

Sorry if I wasnt much help, just letting you know what is working for me at the moment.

My son is doing the same, i keep asking him if he wants to go and he said "not yet mummy" then 2 minutes later Oh o! He has wet his jocks! Ive tried putting his on the toilet and reading to him, and it can take up to a hour at a time and still no sucess, i know the key to toilet training is patience but i didnt think it would be this hard!

Me either! But we have the whole week at home next week so it is going to be potty training blitz!
Hopefully we can make some progression.
Hope you have some success soon too!
