mel- I like the name summer and i also like caleb.

I think most people in this world have money problems, its very hard :gloomy: and sad :( as your right it does make the world go around and make things so much easyer but all we can do is stick togerther and try not to stress about money.

catalytic- Girls names are so hard to pick, boys are so easy.

Howdy!

Names well we have a boys first name picked and a possible girls name. Not mentioning it as nothing set yet and I regret saying Eliza's name straight up so this time keeping it a secret! NOt even telling family, who already seem to think they even have a chance in helping to name the baby lol

Kayla that sucks you might have to do it again! Eliza has my surname and this baby will as well.

Mel - whooo you're brave going for a 2nd C/section it's my worse nightmare lol

Zera that is sad your DH might be away, the peril of being in the Army huh :(

Persophone W/B GL at the scan how exciting!

OK I am off to do a face mask and then hit the shops...obviously I will remove the mask before going out lol and apply some paint hehe

I have good news!

The community midwifes have said they will do the homebirth and they will come for my first home visit in 4 weeks! I still have to see the OB in 6 weeks for him to confirm it's all good etc. But it sounds very promising!:fingerscrossed:

We are opposite here- loads of girl names, stuck a bit for boys.
I like Noah or Jasper (DH not so hot on the latter).

Top of the girl list at the mo is Evie Leigh and Isobel Violet is getting a look in.

I want something unique as I am a Katie and there were always 2 or 3 of us in a class, or even at work. DH doesn't really understand my reasoning.

Zera06 - ((HUGS)) Hun. I guess that is the downside of being in the army. I hope he doesn't go in April so he is there for the birth of the baby and hopefully by Dec 08 the war is over!

We are pretty sure on our girls name but haven't decided on a boys yet. I like the name Bailey but Aaron hates it :( Other then that we haven't thought much about boys names lol.

Good Afternoon Girls! On to our 2nd thread already, hey? What a chatty bunch!

Hope everyone is well. Everyone must be almost at the 12 week mark by now? Cause for celebration!:smiliedance:

DH and I know 4 other couples that are due the SAME WEEK as us - it's crazy baby season!

Well, I'm feeling much better now that i'm in the 2nd trimester, although i have been getting some nasty headaches. I know that it's safe to take panadol, but i still don't like to. When it gets bad, i'll take 1, but it really doesn't help much. But i've definitely got heaps more energy - no more afternoon naps for me!!!

DH and I are fairly settled on names - we have a boy's name (both first and middle) picked out, and also a girl's first name. We still need to come up with a middle name to go with Isabella, but we'd like it to be only one syllable - any suggestions?

(katiemaree - my grandmother's name was Violet, so that was on the middle name list, but it's probably makes the name too long - but great taste!)

We're not telling family and friends the names we've chosen, although we'll tell them the baby's sex after the next scan. Once you've finally decided on what your bub should be called, you don't want anyone telling you they hate the name, right?

Ciao!

A friend of mine was telling me about the birth of her neice the other week. She wasn't too happy with her sister in law.
As it turned out, a few days before she went into labour, they were all at a famillly gathering and my friend mentioned how she liked the name Isabelle for a girl (she's TTC at the moment). Anyway, her sister and law had a girls name already picked out the whole way through the pregnancy, but her husband apparenlty decided to call their daughter Isobella. So my friend if pretty upset as the two families are so close that there is no way there can be an Isobelle and an Isobella.
Keeping your favourite names secret probably is a good idea.

Violet was my Nanna's name. Most of the girls on that side of the family have flower names. My brother took my favourite- Jasmine Rose.

How about Isabella May or Grace or Rose or Sky, Eve, Jane, Gene, Sage, Fluer, ...there are so many one syllabal names!!

I must say, I am very hesitant to share names with my friends and family for fear that they will say that it is a name they wanted for their next child, or that they will use it then I will feel funny calling my child that too, but online you guys are mostly far away so I can share!!!

Here is our list so far. My husband is Chinese so we want them to have a western and chinese middle name... our kids will have really long names!!!

afternoon girls....

me and DP have heaps of girls name, cant think of a single boys name! driving me bonkers! we're also going to announce the name of bub once we get home.

we were going to find out the sex of this bub as we left maddy as a surprise bub and i thought coz we waited so long to know what maddy was we could reward ourselves by finding out what this bub is, but we've been taking about it and decided we're leaving it as a surprise, i loved the surprise with maddy and i didnt mind waiting, the last week was probably the hardest.

my M/S has died down alot, just been feeling a little queasy every now and then. ive gone completely off meat, i cant stomach it. just the thought of it makes me wanna gag! the last few days ive felt very dizzy and light headed. especially when i bend down and get back up really quick and when i get out of the shower.

Daylight savings has really stuffed around maddy's sleeping routine! she used to be in bed around 8-9pm, and for the last few nights she was finally getting to bed at 2-2.30am!!!! not fun!

ive been craving chopped up tomatos with lots of salt and pepper, celery with heaps of peanut butter, and green capsicum with lots of salt.

anyways hope you are all well, *belly rubs*

Hi everyone,
Zera06 I feel for you I would hate it to happen to me you poor thing:hugs:
On the subject of baby names I wouldn't have a clue if this one turns out to be a girl which I'm sure it will be. I used up our faves on my last two now I'm stuck. I suppose I shouldn't have given them both middle names then at least I would have an extra two names up my sleeve lol. If for some miracle its a boy then its easy Mitchell. Just some who ha over the middle name but probably Derek as its my Dads middle name. I like Analeigh and Aaliyah but have to convince my dh. Hope everyone is doing well. I have such bad headaches I'm of to the chemist for some panadeine. Panadol does nothing and my ob has told me to get panadeine instead. Just hoping my blood pressure is not the cause was a little high last time.
C ya

My brother took my favourite- Jasmine Rose.

LOL my DD is Jasmine Rose. That's the only girls name I liked too, I felt it was too flowery but in the end settled on that.

ive gone completely off meat, i cant stomach it. just the thought of it makes me wanna gag!

Glad I'm not the only one feeling that way. I usually like my steaks bloody, but can't stand the sight of blood now. I had a steak sandwhich for dinner the other night just because I felt I needed the iron. But I made sure I covered it with sauce and cheese and tomatoes. Mince I can handle, but meat on it's own yuck! With DD I loved my bloody steaks, I wonder if that means I'm having a boy?

Anyone heard of the old wifes tale about weeing in draino to tell the sex of the baby? Anyone tried it?
I think the most intereting one I've come across so far is the Chinese gender prediction chart.
http://www.chinesefortunecalendar.com/Charts/BabyGender.htm
It predicted my first would be a girl. And predicts this one will be a boy.

EmsMum72
02-11-2007, 02:48 PM
That Chinese gender one predicted my DD would be a girl, and she was :D it predicted the one I lost earlier in the year was a boy (I felt that baby was a boy), and it predicts this one is a girl (and I've felt all along that she's a girl) so we'll see! Haven't tried the draino one, or hanging the wedding ring on a piece of string and swinging it above your belly.

I don't mind telling people about the names I like. My friends and I have discussed, over the years, names we've liked and I've never had anyone use a name I like. My girlfriend's hubby liked the name Caleb and she said 'nope, Mel's already bagged that name'. God love her! A male friend of mine and his wife named their daughter a name I have loved since I was a kid, but he didn't know and he doesn't mind if I use the name. We live in different states and the child with the name I like is from his first marriage, so I won't see them hardly at all. I see more of his kids with his 2nd wife, so that's cool.

cindye, how about isabella jade (my DD's middle name  )?

katiemaree, I also like the name Riley, but our surname starts with R and I have a thing about having the first and last name starting with the same letter, call me weird

We will be finding out what we're having at the 20 week ultrasound (can't help ourselves) but won't be telling anyone. We found out with DD and didn't tell anyone until she was born, beside there's always a possibility that the sonographer got it wrong and I think it would be so upsetting thinking you're having a girl 1/2 way through your pregnancy and then it turns out to be a boy, or vice versa. My girlfriend just had her 2nd child and was convinced she was having a girl, turns out it was a boy (her 2nd son) and although she loves him to bits and is thrilled that he is healthy, she was initially a little disappointed it wasn't a girl.

MaddisonsMummy, I didn't think we were 'allowed' to eat celery! I thought I read somewhere that it can cause some women to go into premature labour, or something  , or did I dream that???

gilly, I like the names you've picked, especially Aaliyah .

I've also completely gone off meat. Hate selecting meat at safeway, hate looking at it before I cook it, hate cooking it, hate smelling it, but don't mind eating it  . I think I want something, make it and then don't want it because I feel sick. I've gone mad on cheese & vegemite sandwiches & ice cream with milo. I cannot stand the smell of smiley loaf (it's like devon from the deli). DD has it for lunch and it makes me want to :barf: . I'm also loving ginger ale ATM.

i didnt know that about the celery. i ate it from day one with DD till the end. might have to google it and check it out.

I wouldn't have thought those salad bar things are good because a) you don't know how long they've been sitting there for, and b) you don't know how thoroughly they've been washed (very, I'm sure, but you never know).

I could be wrong about the celery. I didn't know about it either, and I ate quite a bit of it when pregnant with DD. I think most things, apart from the obviously like soft cheeses, cold meat etc., is ok in small amounts.

I don't believe this, DD is sick with gastro AGAIN!! I cleaned the house the other day, I just don't get how she can have it again! The whole house smells like puke no matter what I do. It's all I can smell. I just can't handle being sick again, I don't know what to do :gloomy:

Between that and money issues, I'm loosing my mind :hair: Every 3 months DP has to look for a new job, there is no such thing as stable employment within the transport industry (unless you are an owner driver). Our rent has increased to the level that we are now struggling to keep a roof over our heads. Owning our own homeis only a dream that may never be possible for us, unless I finnish my degree and get a $50,000 a year job (that's a big if). It's gotten so bad DP wants to go back to New Zealand. After looking at houses and prices over there, we would be worse off. I just don't know what to do short of selling everything I have of value to pay off some bills. Sorry just needed to vent.

evening all!
please forgive, it's been so long since my last post... sounds like confession! so much has been going on here in the forums... not so much with me... here's a quick run down of my feelings/thoughts based on previous topics i read in here!

Sleep: Since i found out i was preggers i would go to sleep fine, however woke around 3am every morning and couldn't sleep till just before the alarm went off at 5:30... then woke up feelin like ****! :( However lately i'm sleeping through better, although still having to go to the loo in the early hours, i seem to get to back to sleep better! YAY

Dreams: Verry freaky weird ones fo sho! Some have been a bit perverted  and others i just can't repeat and am surprised they came out of my brain?!!!! too weird!

MS: Still have morning sickness everyday... today i :barf: 4 times... Once at home, then at the train station, then after lunch at work, then as soon as i got home! Now i have a killer headache... and i can't take anything for it :(

Names: I have some really lovely girls names picked out, but not many boys names, i want a bit of a hippy sounding name but my bf isn't feeling it unfortunately :( Still not sure of the sex, but i'm going to hold off thinking of names until later on.. it's too addictive!

So far i at the 13 week mark... bellie is growing, but i'm still trying to conceal it from work, which isn't easy, hopefully no one is suspicious yet! I've started wearing looser clothing ... i'd like to wait until at leaast 4 months before i tell work, but would like to wait later, i'll see how i go!

hope everyone is doing well... i'll try to stay more uptodate with everyone!

Catalytic, my hubby has also spoken about moving back to NZ. From the reaction he got from me, I don't think he'll be mentioning it again  . I hope everything sorts itself out for you guys. We're having work/money dramas too but I'm trying to stay positive and tell myself that we'll get out of this mess, because we usually do, something usually comes along and :fingerscrossed: it will again soon. Otherwise hubby will have to get a job that he hates, for 1/2 the pay (it would be hard working for someone again after having our business for so long). I hope it doesn't come to that!

Welcome back hbp. Sorry to hear you're still sick, and I hope you see some light at the end of the tunnel soon. We are planning on telling everyone that we're expecting at my 35th  birthday in 4 weeks time (I'll be 14 weeks by then).

I NEVER thought I'd have a baby at this age, I always thought I'd have had 2 or 3 kids by 30, but it wasn't meant to be. If that had happened the kids would have been to my ex alcoholic partner, and that would have been awful. I didn't meet my hubby until I was 28, so it's just worked out this way. Not that I'm complaining, I'm actually quite happy with the way things have turned out :D .

Have a good day girls!

Hey Emsmum!
wow that must be hard waiting sooo long to tell everyone your close to!! Good on you for holding out though, part of me wishes i didn't tell everyone so early, just so i can see their reactions again! hehe
But i know i'll see a few jaws drop when i tell my work peeps, so that will be funny!

Re: Work/Money... yes it's going to be hard, at the moment i am the bread winner in our family, my bf works hard at his job but little pay... I am going to take at least 6 months off work (no paid maternity leave unfortunately). We are going to have to move to smaller cheaper place, as we can barely manage our mortgage with both of us working! But for some reason i feel everything will work out in the end. I'm not going to let money matters stress me out yet, but will buckle down when the time comes!

Gawd it's soo hot today, I always get terrible headaches with the heat, does anyone have any good headache cures or remedies? I know all about hydration as i constantly have a bottle of water with me but it still doesn't work! :crying:

Hey Everyone, wow onto our second thread already! lol

I have been pretty busy, my bestie is over from Perth so been busy with her. We went to Dreamworld yesterday was a tad disappointing as the 3 rides i could actually go on, only one was open, so we went on the log ride with Joshy, he seemed to be ok on it. DH went on the more scary rides and he enjoyed it, and Wiggles world is a bit lame actually! lol But anyways, it was still a decent day out. I'll upload some pics to share in a minute, just gotta download them. :)

I can't believe how big i am! I look 7 months pregnant, and am only 13 weeks! LOL

I got my first hospital appt booked for antenatal at the end of the month i'll be almost 16 weeks by then. Ahwell i don't really mind, hate going to hospitals anyways. Everything else is going well and looking forward to Joshy's party tomorrow, im so exhausted though and have some shopping and baking and cleaning to do!

So yeah, will be back later with pics. :)

Great photos Vee, your little man will definately be breaking a few hearts when he's older - what a cutie! We actually had a great time at Dreamworld when we went in Feb this year. We got to go on heaps of rides at the Nick Jr part, and DD met all the Wiggles characters and had her photos taken with them, and she really enjoyed herself. Sorry to hear you were a bit disappointed with it all.

I love your bump, it's so gorgeous.

I thought I'd add a pic of me (10w, 4d). I've cropped it right down because I didn't realise how dirty the bathroom mirror was :o you know what I'm off to do now :D

MaddisonsMummy, your bump is so cute - very pronounced indeed  . It's amazing how big us 2nd time mummy's are getting so quickly. Nothing was noticeable for me with DD at all until about 14-16wks. God help us at 8 months.

A girlfriend of mine showed really early on with her 2nd, then plateaued around 4-6 months and then started growing again. So maybe we'll get biggish now, then have a break in the middle and then start again just like my friend did. Hubby came home from work today and he goes 'oh yep, everyone will be able to tell that you're pregnant now, don't think we can say that you're just getting fat'.

Kayla, I've been feeling exhausted too. Haven't been doing much out of the ordinary, but most mornings we are busy doing swimming lessons, gymnastics, mother's group or whatever, and then most arvo's we go for a walk or go to the park. I find that I get really tired at about 3 to 4.30pm so I try and stay busy, and then after dinner is cooked and the dishes are done, at about 7-7.30pm. I'm just watching Aladdin with DD and then she'll be off to bed and I don't think I'll be far behind her tonight.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Joshua.......

MY DH picked Sienna Brooke.. if she was a girl it was suppose to be my pick.. when she was born he said ok you can choose... how could i go against a name i didnt mind it was the only 1 we agreed on...

If we have a girl this time.. im going with my original picks... Mahalia, Dakota or Indiana.. i think...... for a boy i have no idea.. i wanted Xavier but that has become sooo common... I find it funny when people wont tell you their names as some one in the world is going to have the same name.. i understand family members etc...

Em Sienna is 6 months this week so i hadnt totally lost the bump in the first place.. im not that big any way so its not a big bump but obvious...

Happy Birthday Josh

mel- I Love the movie Aladdin, its one of the best kids movies! well i think so anyways.

Sounds like you and your DD do alot of fun things!

Last night i got to see 10:00 so that was better.

Bel- your hubby is a good pick in names! you have some nice girl names picked out, i also think its silly when people keep names from each other as your child is never going to be the only one with that name.... but i can understand family as my niece is wanting to steal one of my girls names which is unfair.

It wont stop raining today it hasnt stopped all night and all day its great we need the rain! but cant get out and do anything.

I keep forgetting that Sienna is still so young! I love the name Dakota

Kayla, isn't the rain awesome? But you're right, can't get out and do anything. I try to do lots of fun things with DD, but I don't think she thinks I'm much fun today - having a home day and she's bored. She had a pyjama/tv morning and now she's doing some drawing and then she will tidy her room and we might do some painting (AGAIN  ) later on. DH is sick with a cold so he's like a bear with a sore head, staying away from him today.

Good on you for making it to 10pm last night Kayla. I went to bed at 10pm but seem to be having awful trouble actually getting to sleep - my mind has been racing, and then I'm really restless. It's driving me nuts!

It's so quiet in here on weekends. Obviously everyone, other than me, has a life :banghead:

I hope you're having a lovely day Josh

Don't worry Emsmum I don't have a life either!

Nice pics girls!, my bump seems to have gone away. I think I've lost some weight from not eating much in the last few weeks, due to illness.

On another note, I'm 10 weeks 2 days, and the morning sickness is gone. Mine only lasted 3 weeks and it really wasn't that bad. I feel lucky in that respect.

Kayla- I have failed one unit so far (had to withdraw), and about to fail another (unless I get stuck in this week and ask for an extension). It going to cost me an extra $1000 to do the unit again at a later date, luckily my fee's work like a HECS debt, I pay it back through tax when I am earning over $32,000. I know someone who has attempted this unit for the 4th time this study period. At least I have good reason to ask for an extension this time. My tutor is pretty good, so I'm hoping the extension wont be a problem. I have to catch up on 4 weeks worth of work. And write a 2500 word essay on Narrative and Charaterisation in my chosen film Pulp Fiction (I think it's due next week).

I was watching the foxtel doco, In the womb earlier, even DP found it interesting. All though he begged me to turn it off when the woman was giving birth. He just can't handle it, and of course reminded me how he really doesn't want to be there. He's got no choice this time!

Here's what I dreamt last night...We all went to a fair or something like that, anyway as we were getting out of the car there was a family next to us, who had a cute baby girl. While they were busy with there other kids, I stole the baby out of their car. But the family didn't notice, they just walked off with an empty pram. So we walk around the fair with this baby all day, but I'm worrying about how to get the baby back to the parents without getting into trouble. My family was strangely unconcerned with the fact I had stolen someone elses baby, my Mum took her and left her with the information desk, as I subtley (sp?) walked past.

Strange dreams I have...I wonder what it means.

Well I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one who has weird dreams, and has no life  . No idea what your dream means, maybe it means that you're having a boy but secretly long for a girl?? Who knows! I've also been pretty lucky in the morning sickness department, a handful of days of nausea but that's about it (it was the same with DD). I still have the odd wave of nausea but that's it. I'll be 11 weeks on Tuesday :smiliedance: .

My DH is driving me up the wall today (what's new, I know LOL). He has a cold and you would think he's about to die. He expects the world to just stop when he's sick, including DD being silent, not talking to him and not harassing him. He's been in the bedroom most of the day and I've kept DD away but when he comes out she so much as looks at him and he gets grumpy. I'm not even talking to him hardly, but I feel sorry for DD. She's trying to hug and kiss him and he's like 'no sweetie, I don't want you to get sick too'. Ggggrrr :banghead:

omg today is sooo hot i feel like my brain is gonna explode! :(
I've had this stinking headache for 3 days now and it doesn't seem to be going anywhere anytime soon, and the heat just makes it worse :( I soo hope it rains soon.
Yesterday was another doosy of sickness, i actually feel that my ms is getting worse? is this normal for anyone else?

My DP thinks we are having a girl... i have no feeling or thought as to what it is actually... i just hope it's something healthy!

Does anyone else drink peppermint tea? I really want a different drink to have during work instead of regular tea, i'm just hoping this one will be okay?!

Emsmum: i hope your hubby gets better soon so you can all play and be normal again! Guys seriously bung it on way more than we do when we're sick!

OOh dammn work tomorrow, i hope i only have the sickness in the morning at home and not the rest of the day! I think my main thing is i have to really kickstart the healthy eating, i did eat terribly yesterday: cornchips and dip, bacon and eggs with thick white toast and kettle chips for dinner!! What was i thinking? No wonder i spewed! :(

i watched that doco too. ive seen it before but its a good show:thumbsup:

i think my DP's eyes were watering a bit when the baby was being born lol, he's a wuss:laughing:

What a bummer about your headache hbp, don't really have any suggestions for you other than Nurofen Plus but we're not allowed to have that! Sorry to hear that your m/s is getting worse, I have heard of that before tho and I hope it goes away soon.

Talking about eating badly, I just ate 1/2 a block of chocolate  and now feel really guilty. I could have gone on to eat ALL of it, but stopped myself. What a piggy!! I must eat lots of fruit tomorrow

I haven't tried peppermint tea, I just drink normal tea, water or dry ginger ATM. Hubby is still being a big sulk, I cracked it earlier because he's hardly had anything to do with DD all day, then was too sick to help with the dishes, and was too sick to bathe DD so I did it all (nothing unusual, except for the dishes he usually helps with those and occasionally bathes DD) but I was really tired and my DD has said 'mummy' about 200 times today so I went off to my room and had a massive 15 mins to myself  . Felt a little less stressed after that.

I'm off to bed now, goodnight all!

Hey everyone :)

Thanks for the well wishes for Joshy's party, he had a great day. I can't believe my baby is now 2! He got some wicked presents he's so spoiled. I took heaps of pics but photobucket isn't working so i have downloaded pics on another website which is here if you want to click (http://vee81.spaces.live.com/) it.

Emsmum - cute tummy pic you def look pregnant not fat. :) Sorry to hear your DH is being a pain.

Catalytic - goodluck for your assignment surely they'll give you an extension, i usually just get a medical certificate and that's fine to get an extension.

Omg, i'm so tired, what a big day, should go to bed soon. :)

Chat soon chickies! :D

I spoke too soon about the moring sickness... I :barf: lastnight. And feel really sick this morning. I've barely eaten anything in the last week (partly due to stress)

Don't worry Hbp I feel like my head is going to explode as well. They gave me some panadiene forte when I was in hospital the other week, so I assume they are ok to take while pregnant. They've been easing the ache, but making me really drowsy.

After a big row with my partner last night, I'm feeling miserable again today. He's angry because he feels like he can't support us, and thinks we're better off without him. That's not the case, but I would be better off without being yelled at every day. Everyone is stressed and not eating. DD has gone to Mum's for the night, and the partner is working so I get the afternoon and evening to myself. Too bad I'm in no frame of mind to catch up on the homework. I have to at least sort out an extension today.

I just got back my marks from one of my essays... 70/100. The tutor has given everyone an extension, due to the dismal performance in the first essay. Only 12 people out of over 80 got more than 70. One person got the highest of 90.

Hello everyone

Sorry to hear about the problems with partners and money. I think everyone has the money problems, we are very broke at the moment, i hate having no food i want to eat, we have food just boring food and im a bit on the fussy side sometimes  .

I think peppermint tea is a big no no when your pregnant, i just looked it up and it said it is safe in moderation but shouldnt be used if you have a history of miscarriage.

Emsmum - cute tummy pic you def look pregnant not fat.

Thanks hun  I'm definately starting to feel pregnant and not so much fat, there's no way I can hold my tummy in anymore. DH and I were talking about the 12 week scan and I said I'd be really nervous this week because last time I m/c'd it was at 11.5wks and he said 'yeah, but your tummy never grew like this last time', so :fingerscrossed: that's a good sign! Glad to hear Josh's party went well, the photos were awesome.

Mel- I love your display pic, its great!

Isn't it just the cutest

I think peppermint tea is a big no no when your pregnant, i just looked it up and it said it is safe in moderation but shouldnt be used if you have a history of miscarriage.

I thought I read somewhere that peppermint in general wasn't good for pregnant women

Catalytic, hopefully a night home alone will rejuvenate you and you might not feel so stressed tomorrow. I know it's easy to say, especially with you being sick and all, but try not to stress - it's not good for you or the baby, you need to keep up your strength. Sorry to hear that you're also having hubby dramas. They were definately put on this earth to test us, that's for sure!

We had swimming lessons this morning and the teacher told me that my DD can go in without me from now on. I have to sit near the pool, obviously, with my bathers on under my clothes, but don't actually have to get in unless the teacher needs help or something. So that's good news, especially seeing as I feel huge in my bathers. Although, I will still have to get in to the other pool with her after her lessons, but that's cool  .

Thanks for the support girls :) It does help knowing we're not the only ones in this situation. I'm voting Labour, not that I have much hope this will change things...

I just got back from the GP, but I forgot to pic up the ultrasound pics! :banghead: I was looking forward to seeing them, I thought it might cheer me up.

Luckily mum was able to give us some cash so I could get my panadien and maxalon, plus I needed tablets for constipation.

I feel a little better now, I sorted out my study for the next unit, and got a letter from my doctor, so hopefully an extension wont be an issue.

I also wrote a big rant in the friends/family section... Now I'm going to try and eat some salt and vinegar chips ( the only thing I felt like eating), and thinking about ordering a pizza later, at least then there is something for DP to eat when he gets home. The only stuff I want to eat is junk, but at least it's something!

BTW, anyone know if spa baths are bad when you are pregnant?
I've got one of those spa mats for the tub, I love it, but just wondering if the bubbles are too strong. I suppose I have so much padding, bubs would hardly notice!

I like your logo too EmsMum! We should all go and get t-shirts with it printed on front! You know like the grade 6 jumpers you get in primary school, with all your classmates names on the back.

We could do something like that with our screen names and due dates on the back! :D :D

Hi everyone

Grrr I am so angry at the moment. F-ing telstra. We are moving house next weekend and I called them last week to cancel our foxtel cos we are moving, and for them to do it before the next period, so it won't cost us anything more. So they tell me yep no worries, will be cancelled sometime on Friday, we only had until the 2nd to do it, otherwise we would get charged pro-rata. Well come right now, the bloomin thing is still on, so I call them, again. The lady had the nerve to tell me that I must not of explained myself clearly. Umm.. excuse me?? Why would I of called you last week and specifically said I do not want to get charged for next month?! She acted like I was lying, I was so mad. A guy is coming out tomorrow to get the box, she told me he actually disconnects it. What the... talk about being kept in the dark. So I told her I am not going to pay the pro-rata, she told me there is nothing that we both can do until I get my bill, and to call back then. Yep no worries now your companies stuff up, is gonna cost me more money as well as more phone calls. Its such a pain. Listen lady... DO NOT MESS WITH A HORMONAL PREGNANT WOMAN!!!!

Okay now I feel better, vent over

Hope you guys are all having a great day today. The weather here is about 30 degrees. I was going to wash the car, but its quite warm outside. Starting to pack, am really looking forward to the new place (it has a pool!!!), but am really dreading the whole pack, unpack, cleaning the old place. Ewww.... its gonna be horrible. I think it makes it worse cos I am pregnant as well. No heavy lifting for me. The only good thing about it is, I can't clean the oven, or the bathroom, hehehe.

EmsMum your belly is coming along fantastically. You definately look pregnant!

catalytic I hope you are now feeling better.

Hi everyone
On the headache thing I also have been getting really bad ones. My ob told me to drink more water and take panadeine. It has worked hardly getting them and when I do I take a panadeine and they go hooray.

I am really annoyed today as I told my family I am preggers at a birthday bash yesterday and couldn't believe the reaction. One of my sis said " why didn't you wait until you got your body back' what does that mean terminate this one cause it's bad timing, REALLY. After saying that it wasn't planned because I was bf, on mini pill and periods were up the wall another sis said " **** you don't get pregnant unless you want to, you could have been more careful". I was really quite upset at the reaction. I knew it wouldn't be fun as I am the youngest of 5 girls no boys. My oldest sis has 3 older boys but there's no more kids until me. My 41yo sis has decided she wants them but no has left it to late. So she hates that and is upset with herself. And my other 36yo sis has no dp and is really clucky. So I suppose I copped it all.
Oh well hope you are having a better day than me. I feel better now got it off my chest.

It's really hot and humid today and waiting for a thunderstorm.
My dog will go nuts GREAT.:banghead:

Hi Jordans Mummy,
Yes I am going to Joondalup Private. I had my last two there with Margo Norman she's great. Have you choosen yet? I also notice your sons birthday is near my dd. She was born 13/8/04 now a 3yo terrorist. We have had problems with foxtel through telstra also when moving. When we built our house they were sending the bills to a lot number and we werent even living there then idiots. Also once we moved in we never got a bill and they cut it off. When my dh rang them they said we hadnt paid but they hadnt changed the lot number to an address so we never got a bill just was sent back to sender. Twits. We ended up spitting it and got a month for free try that.

Hi All,

My goodness, you are away for less than a week and it's on to a new thread - love it!

Pixie, kayla & katiemaree - I remember hearing a theory about picking out names, not sure how well it works. The general idea is that people who are able to really nail a few names they love for a particular sex, are more likely to be pregnant with that sex. These people are also supposed to have difficulty selecting/agreeing on a name for a bub of the opposite sex.

Katiemaree - I'm like you, I am reluctant to share the names we like with friends in case they say 'oh I was going to call our child that'. It's much harder to argue when you present the bub and say her/his name is 'bla'. Also, as much as I love my mum, I won't tell her beforehand because she think's its fairgame to critique the name - but again, once presented with the bub alll named, it's more difficult to be a critic.

Catalytic - I'm so sorry about DD - it's unbelievable how they catch these things. You poor thing! That's just what you both need at the moment. But CONGRATULATIONS on the mark! Well done you!

Amandaw - will definitely have to exchange some photos so that if we are in Wesley at the same time we will actually recognise each other. Particularly if we're wandering the corridors in the middle of the night trying to settle our bubs!

I think I'm having a girl - even the chart that was listed indicates a girl. So, I was having another look at the name book we have (it's a Swiss book, given DH is Swiss) - and OMG you should see some of the good German names - Adolfa, Benedicta, Baptista .... I kid you not! So, once again, I think we'll skip past the German and look at the Italian & French sections.

Has anyone had any bizarre dreams lately. I had the weirdest one a couple of nights ago - a sex dream with Kevin Rudd! Arggh, I mean I really like the guy, but why couldn't I dream I was having a great discussion with Kevin and a sex dream with someone that looked like Rodrigo Santoro (the hunk that Laura Linney's character in Love Actually was in love with) - sorry DH!!

I think the main thing about spa baths and regular baths in general is the heat- not the bubbles. When they talk about spa baths i htink they mean the ones that heat up when you turn them on and jsut get hotter and hotter (and you kinda don't notice). We aren't to let ourselves get too hot (which is why we need to me moderate in our exercise). So spa away, as long as you don't have the water too hot!

Survived camp....lots of lost sleep and ordinary food, but what else do you expect with lots of hyperactive teenagers! Had a ball though and was a bit naughty ...danced on the tables (which were all gaffer taped together, because as soon as a few of the teachers found out, it was like everyone was my parents!!), did the giant swing (only to half height because that way there was no free fall first...did run it past 3 instructors first just to be sure), but avoided surfing (figured hard board and strong waves and not a good mix).....it's amazing - there's not a chance on earth I would have even considered doing anything remotely 'risky' first time around. A great time was had by all though - who wouldn't with 4 days up at Curramundi on the beach!!!

Did tell 2 members of admin while I was on camp, and a handful of the teachers who were there, so will be interesting to see how quickly word spreads - spend most of last week in my togs, so I was sure I was busted, but not one of the kids said anything, and neither did the year 12's today... will just have to wait and see if their curiosity or my need to tell kicks in first :D

I thought I was showing, but some of you guys certainly take the batten from me! I'm up to 15 weeks this week, which just seems surreal. Booked my morphology scan today for week 20, but am definitely not finding out the sex...DH hasn't yet decided if he will or won't - did last time at 32 weeks and kept a damn good secret!

That theory didn't meld with us last time - had 3 boys names picked out and Charlotte was obviously a girl..she spend 4 days nameless!!!!! I'm crossing everything for a boy this time, otherwsie I think bub no. 2 will go through the same process!!!! We got given a book of contemporary names which was the biggest laugh ever..... it seriously has Sarcophogus as a name, and for twins ...Ebony and Ivory etc etc - may have to borrow it back of my bro to give you lot a giggle.

Since everyone else has been posting pics (don't yet have a belly one yet) here's some of ours CLICK HERE (http://community.webshots.com/user/charlotte_white) ..... They're mostly of Charlotte, but also some others that I've shared along the way with my August mob, when we've done some photo swapping

That's so funny, I jokingly said to DP the other night, how about Ebony or Ivory Black (black being DP's last name) for a girl. Then it got onto a conversation about the weirdest name's we could think of....Pot Kettle Black was another one I came up with.

katiemaree - the Swiss name book is on loan from a friend of my DH. But if you like, you could pm me your postal address I'll try and p/copy as much of the book as possible and mail it to you. It has the names seperated into German, Italian, French & Romansch.

Amandaw - SO pleased that name theory is blown away! Because according to this I'm having a hermaphradite (sp?) - I can't think of any names (boy or girl). Well done on keeping up with the teenagers - I was exhausted just reading what you got up to!

Hi everyone ,

I thought I'd pop in and say hi seeing as I was on the comp tonight , I'm a bit annoyed cause I've already typed out my post and the comp froze and I lost it all so here we go again !
We just came back from holidays today , we went to Nelson's Bay , It was just beautiful , very relaxing .:) Only prob is my m/s is back , last week I was fine , full of energy , then I got sick again ! I've been in bed all afternoon till 9pm , then I woke up and now I can't sleep, I'm wide awake !
Guess what ? It isn't much but I got a pregnancy calender from Babies Galore and filled it in from my last period and realised I'm a few days further along than I thought , I am 13wks on wed , It's only a few days but It made a little difference , I can't believe I'm nearly 13wks already and we have our first u/s on Friday ... as I've said in my other posts , I'm really looking forward to it .Does anyone know If you can find out the sex this early or do you have to wait til your 18wk u/s?
Catalytic- I still have spas , Just watch the temp , you shouldn't go in If it's too warm , cause It's been hot I just go in with the water luke warm almost like a warm pool.
and who-ever mentioned Peppermint Tea , Peppermint oil should be avoided in pregnancy as It causes m/c , however they say peppermint tea in small amounts is ok .
I personally wouldn't risk it , but It's up to you .
I've heard you should be careful with Chamomile too and Raspberry Leaf Tea can start contractions and is best avoided in early pregnancy - although they say in the 3rd trimester it can help with labor but be really careful with Herbal tea , Look it up on the net to make sure It's safe before you drink it .
Anyway all ,
Hopefully speak to you soon .
Keep well xx:)

I hate foxtel as well we are thinking of getting rid of it cause its starting to **** me off.

Tea the only tea you are meant to drink while preg is de caf as normal tea has caffine in it and it can ruin the vitamns you are taking but to much can harm bub.

Also anything lavender is a big no no it can actullay set miscarrges (sp) off.

Im fine i just feel big have to go to hubbys melbourne cup day lunch today. But i will not be wearing a dress . and its pouring and its outside lol :rain: :gloomy:

Catalytic - just read about your dream & it absolutely cracked me up!

katiemaree - don't worry about pm'ing your address as I think I might be able to scan the pages into the computer and email this to you as a pdf, instead of posting it. Not sure how big the file will be. But I'll let you know when I work out how to scan it. Did you just want the french & italian sections?

Persephone - bummer on the m/s! but yay, on being further along. I agree a few days makes all the difference. I had my 12/13 wk scan yesterday and the Dr said he couldn't tell the sex until the 20 wk scan - but I saw someone else in this forum (can't remember who) was told their bub was likely a girl at the 12/13 wk scan. So, I'm not sure.

Zera - hope your day improves and you back a winner in the race! :yelclap:

Happy birthday for tomorrow!

I thought the capsules were mandatory? I didn't realise anything else catered for the first 5-6 months. Certainly agree though, they make the whole getting sleeping bubs in and out of the car v easy!

Ok, I'm going to stop posting (aka procrastinating) now - and do some uni work.

Hi Everyone,

Congreats to everyone who has reached the 12 week mark.

I have been ok just really really tired aswell. Like V8 I had trouble getting out of bed this morning. Missed work as was really tired and dizzy.

Me and my husband have a girls name picked out but are stuggling with a boys name. My husband likes Max but it is the name of my mums dog, and he wont agree to any other boys names.

I am looking very big now, but not much else is new.

I assume your m/s must be better to have gone away on school camp! Nice to hear you had a good time.

I'm one of the fortunate ones who hasn't had M/s *ducks for cover quickly * just a few nausious days (didn't with DD either, and mum didn't with any of the 4 of us, so maybe just fortunate genes????)...

We also have a 'colour' surname, so I just can't do the Violet's, Scarlett Ebony etc, despite liking a few of them

My advice with capsuals - don't shell out the big bucks since they're in them for such a short amount of time. We hired ours from the ambulance - they fitted it properly, and we had it for 7 months all for $55 (I think it might have gone up to $60?). Realistically, all they do is sweat, spew or have lovely explosive nappies in them, so anything you can whip off to wash, and then hand back (rather than spending $00's and then wondering how best to store and sanitise) is great...spend the money on a great seat for afterwards....

Can't believe it..only 1 more lesson and I send another lot of year 12's off....makes me feel old (all at 27!!!!) SOOOO looking foward to their formal though....a big chance to dress up, and let our hair down too (I think half the time we're just as nervous as the kids....I was really paranoid last year, hoping that I didn't have the same dress as any of the kids....had to buy somthing new to fit my b/fing boobs in....have never worn something from the same season before....It wasn't the same, though one came close *phew*

Good luck with everyone's study....what are you all studing towards?? I was a glutton for punishment and did my Masters 2005-06, but definitely not going back for more anytime soon!

Anyway, just raving now

I am so sick of not being able to eat. DP cooked a roast chicken, the smell made me hungry, I took one look at it and didn't want it. Now hours later I am hungry, and it's all dry and cold totally unedible now. So I miss out on eating again. Even my GP said he feels sorry for me...

GP said nothing, I suppose he thinks there isn't a problem. I guess I'll just have a suasage in bread later, too bad the sausages taste yuck to me as well. Nothing tastes the same, things I usually like taste awful.

I just feel down on myself at the moment.

I'm 14 weeks today! YAY! coming along nicely, still getting sickness though. :(

Bellie is growing, is anyone doing anything for stretch marks? Does body shop body butters work or do they just smell nice? hehee

Still haven't told work, i looked in the mirror this evening before my shower and can't believe i haven't told work, considering how big i am now! I'll have to take a pic to show! Anyone got any tips for concealing bubs... does wearing flowing garments work or just accentuate it?

catalyctic: i wish i had that problem of not feeling hungry! I am constantly eating and feeling hungry, but craving all the bad foods. Although this week i've made an effort to try to stick to the good food and not so much processed foods... or as my mum calls it "stay away from human intervention foods" or something like that! She's such a health nut!

Emsmum when is your birthday again? That's when your telling your family isn't it??

Kayangel, yes i envy you and your non morning sickness! hehee I'm hoping my time will be over soon!

Mirandaj: yes i have some cuuuute girls names picked out, but can't decide on boys yet too! Going to wait, heck we got 6 more months to think about it! hehe

V8: yes my DP has ****ed me off tonight, first time since being preggers, so that's not too bad! He's been mostly good, and i think i'm just super emotional tonight, but i can't be bothered talking to him... i also think it's because of my work dramas and i'll take it out on him! hehee

Amanda: Interesting info on the capsule and getting one from the ambos? i might look into it!

I'll be off to bed to read soon... i'm addicted to Patrica Cornwell at the moment, i'm on the 6th book of hers, anyone else read any of her stuff? Forensic serial killer crime solving at it's best! hehe

I haven't read her no. I go for the big thick historical romance novels. I like to dream...But I do enjoy a good horror/thriller investigative novel too. I haven't read for ages, most of the stuff I have read is boring academic stuff. It's hard finding quiet time with a toddler. Something for me to do over the week... find a good book!

Sorry for the negativity, just feeling frustrated at the moment by pregnancy in general. Don't get me wrong I'm happy to be pregnant, just this time it seems like I'm copping all the annoying symptoms at once.

I NEVER get cold sore, and now I've got once. Is there anything I can take for it? Which leads me to my other frustration at the moment, all the food I DO want to eat, I can't.

I want salami, and kabana, and egg mayo. I want a nice spicy curry. It seems that everything I is a no no while pregnant. :banghead:

Yeah, I like Phillipa Gregory books- historical fiction. The one I am reading at the moment is intriguing, yet I am repulsed at the same time as the main character is sleeping with her brother and it is a very twisted relationship where she dominates him.... Kinda want to hurry up and finish it.

I have not been avoiding the spicey food at all. I haven't read anywhere that I should. I think it is an old wives tale that spicey food brings on labour.

Unfrotunately anything spicy or acidic either makes me sick, or just gives me bad indegestion.

Looks like I'm going to fail my other course unit as well. I think I'm too far behind to catch up, and my mind just can't handle it at the moment. It's just too much for me...:gloomy:

Should I stress myself and try and finnish this unit?, or just let it go, and hope I'll still be able to get fee help in the future. I feel so useless, I'm just not myself. I'm so tired and stressed, even basic cleaning is too much for me right now. I'm probably just being a sook, I don't know why I can't do anything...

Hi girls,

Just popped in to say hi  and to introduce myself. I am due in June but my daughter was born 10 days early. So I have a feeling Baby number 2 will as well which means I will be labouring the same month as you guys.

I have had really bad m/s with this one and nothing has helped. With my daughter I had m/s for 29 weeks but only in the morning. I have labelled this 1 my naughty baby as it's making me sick all day.

Hope you are all well.

Hi girlies

I can't believe how much everyone's been chatting lately, it's fantastic. Where are you all when I want to chat!!

I've been busy with DD the past few days, we went on a picnic with daddy yesterday, then had mother's group this morning and a girlfriend came over with her son (my DD's little friend) for lunch, and they stayed till 3. I'm absolutely buggered. I did tell her about the baby, because she's moving back to Sydney in 2 weeks but still haven't told anyone else (other than 1 friend, me and my big mouth).

hbp, my birthday is in early Dec and yep, that's when we're going to tell everyone. Having a bbq at home with family/friends so should be good. I use coconut body butter on my stretchies. It doesn't do any good, but I sure do smell yummy!

Bel1978, happybirthday to you! Hope you're having a great day. I loved the scan pic, so tiny but still very life like.

katiemaree, that bump is fantastic.

Welcome Kirrilly's mum. Congratulations, and goodluck with your pregnancy.

Sorry to hear of those who are feeling down/generally unhappy due to pregnancy, money issues, or DP/DH issues. For once DH and I are extremely happy with each other, which is lovely for a change, and although we still have money & work issues we have just swept them under the rug for a little while, maybe until the end of the year, or until we get back from NZ. I'm too tired to argue ATM :D

catalytic, I would let the unit go. Honestly, you don't need added stress, and hopefully you can get funding for it at another less stressful time in your life. I'm sure whatever you decide will be the right thing to do, and unfortunately it's a decision only you can make. Goodluck!

Hi to everyone else. I hope you're all feeling fabulous (or trying to feel fabulous). If not hopefully you will soon now that most are in the 2nd trimester already. I'm 11w, 1 day today :smiliedance: . Have my NT scan on Tuesday and still trying to decide whether to take DD and show her her little baby bro/sis on the screen (if I hadn't of had a previous m/c i'd take her in a heartbeat, just don't want to get her hopes up too early).

Pretty dismal effort at personals, sorry ladies, too tired and I think DD is coming down with a cold so I'm off to be nurse maid to my grumpy, nearly 4 year old girl.

Ciao for now!

Hey guys, how did you scan your ultrasound pics?
I've tried scanning several times but all I get is black. Was wondering what setting you used to get yours up.

I've tried everything different dpi and adjusting brightness contrast, but you still can't see anything. It must be the paper or something. I had no problems last time, too bad cos I wanted to share with you all.

Welcome Kirrilly's mum hope you're having a good pregnancy!

Mel I think you should take DD to the scan. my idea is talk to the U/S person perhaps go in there first check all is well then get your DH and DD to come in.

Cat if you're sure you're going to fail then focus on why and work on those problems. don't stress I am terrified of failure and only now as the years plod on do I realise it's OK to fail it's just part of learning!

You know I eat what I want when pregnant bar high levels of mercury fish. Even then I wonder why people avoid it when immunisaations are full of it!

HPB man o man my DH is really getting on my tits. I am not going to talk about it but I am surprised I haven't be arrested yet lol

Hi guys,

Sorry i havent been on much lately. I hope you are all going well.

As for me m/s is still getting worse. I had a major breakdown this morning as my ob's receptionist isnt passing on messages that i need more scripts for tablets to my Ob and i have now run out and i cant handle it. It has now been over 8 weeks of all day sickness and i think i had maybe 2 days where i was fine. Now i have run out of tablets i am vomitting around 8 times a day. My lovely DH came home from work at about 2pm to help me get out of bed and get a drink as i am so dizzy.

I think i am getting depressed with it all too and i am so scared of loosing this baby and i feel i am trapped out here on the farm.

Sorry for my rant everyone i just dont know what to do. I have thought about going to stay with my sister in Adelaide where i am close to Dr's, but DH and I are so close and i think i would be even more depressed if he wasnt with me.

Sorry girls just having a big:gloomy: .

Big Hugs to all those people who are still feeling terrible.:hugs:

Well, I'm much better now - but will be 15 weeks on Friday, so my tummy is back to normal. I've had a few nasty headaches though.

I started a temp job today - just Wed - Fri for 6 weeks doing data entry. Fairly mind-numbing stuff, but it'll be good to have a bit extra cash for Christmas. I can't wait to see my family again - by then it'll be more than 8 months since i last saw some of them.

Join in to the new thread i'm creating to predict the gender of our bubs.

Ciao!

ttcin07 that's no good your feeling down about things. *hugs*
How far away from the doctors or civilization are you?
Your day sickness sounds bad, i hope you get something to help with it, having it just in the morning is bad enough...
Good luck sweety!

Cindye, wow 15 weeks is awesome! Bummer about the headaches, i have had some terrible ones too, finally my 4 day one seems to be over, i hope it stays away!

Pixie, you don't look big at all!! i'm envious! I love the pics of you week by week, i think that's a great idea, i might start keeping track like that too!

Emsmum, yeah i love the coconut body butter smell, i actually use the BodyShop coconut lip balm, i love it!
Do you think your family are sus that you might be preggers? Whenever i see people at working looking at me longer than a second i start to wonder what they are thinking! hehee

Catalyctic, i would not worry about the unit too, especially if it is causing you soo much stress. You will find the time to pick things back up, but maybe now isn't the right time for you. Sounds like your body and mind is saying to slow down and relax. I couldn't imagine having to study and be preggers!

Kirilies Mum, welcome!! Wow that's a long time for M/S i hope mine doesn't last that long!

Kayangel, omg there are benefits of ms? please tell me what they are? hehee i do know what you mean about needing sign so you know you really are preggers, i felt like that a few weeks ago, even though i was sick! But now that i am getting bigger, i don't feel that way at all! hehe

Good lordy ttcin :hugs: I've been thinking about you lovee and gathered you were still having bad morning sickness, hence the reason you haven't been on much. I'm so sorry to hear that you're not coping well. You won't lose the baby, unfortunately we all cope differently and you're just one of those women who suffer severely with m/s. I shouldn't complain, I've hardly had any m/s at all compared to what you're going through, just nausea here and there. I think moving away from your DH would probably make you feel worse, but I can understand how you must be feeling isolated and depressed. I really hope that you start to feel better soon.

Do you think your family are sus that you might be preggers? Whenever i see people at working looking at me longer than a second i start to wonder what they are thinking! hehee

No, I don't really see them. I have one brother here in Melb who I don't see much (last time I saw him was Grand Final day and I was only barely pregnant then). Another bro lives in NZ and my other bro lives in Syd so it's been easy hiding it from them so far. I'm very close to the one in Syd so it's been hard not telling him, but I'll call him in a couple of weeks (all going well at my scan) and tell him. It's getting hard with my friends, who I see once or twice a week. I kind of feel guilty for not saying anything because I sit there thinking that they're probably thinking 'she looks pregnant, why isn't she telling us' but I'm sure they're not thinking that at all

catalytic, love the scan, can definately see some little arms. My scan you couldn't make anything out at all. I posted it in the ultrasound thread that Kayla started awhile back.

Well, might hit the hay. DD's definately come down with a cold so she went to bed earlyish, with a dose of panadol and some vicks on her chest, so hopefully she's better in the morning and I don't get this cold that DH has passed on to DD. :fingerscrossed:

P.S. Is it true what zera said about drinking normal tea? that it counteracts the vitamins etc that you put in to your body. So I'm taking elevit, but by having 2 cups of normal (non decafinated) tea it's over-riding the elevit??

Happybunnypony- I read that women who get m/s are less likely to develop breast cancer then these who have no m/s so thats a excellect benefit! but the whole m/s means a healthy baby is a myth.

I found out on monday my niece is pregnant and today she went for a u/s to find out her dates she is 9 weeks on friday due june 13th so she is 3 weeks behide me very exciting! my little bubba will always have someone to play with, very cute.

The scans are looking really good.. My OB has a 3D/4D scanner so i get them quite often... I have another scan in 2 weeks then another 2 weeks after... I went through this with sienna too at least i get alot of pictures.....

Tea- the only thing I have heard about tea is that if you drink it right after you have had meat or other high in iron foods it can stop the absorption of the iron. The problem is the caffiene (good for nothing chemical!!). Go the decafiinated.

ttcin2007- you'll be ok... don't worry. My all day sickness is slowly subsiding. SOmehting I have slowly worked out it that I have to keep eating little bits of food (but not too much as that makes me sick) all day. Like pieces of toast and orange juice. Stay away from dairy and seriously have toast bought to you as early in the morning as possible before you get out of bed. I didn't eat my toast by 7.30 yesterday and I was sick ALL DAY. 5 times!! made work really difficult and I got depressed as I thought I was getting over that horrible stage. I am not sure if the morning sickness has stopped for me, but I have learnt how to manage it.
A friend's grandmother was telling me (as she rubbed my back in a very comforting way that only grandmothers can do) that m/s is a good sign that you hae a string healthy baby. You need the elevated levels of hormones to keep the baby growing. So your baby is going well!!
If you are worried about not eating enough, get some glucose tablets.

keep up the good work ladies, it is a really tough slog, but at the end, looking after a baby is going to seem easier and a relief to the difficultness of these early months.

I checked with my Ob about the coke... as i mentioned before sienna was admitted to emergency at 1 week old and i was told at the time it could have been caffine withdrawals.. it ended up being a newborn condition.. My Ob said if i drink the same amount then to cut down.. well i havent had much coke this time at all.....

I hope i feel better at the 12 week mark next week as im over all the tablets and needles infact i missed last nights needle as i was too sick and tired..... dont tell DH

EmsMum72

I will be buying some decafinated tea today

I agree with Katie about the eating small amounts all day. Perhaps you should try that ttcin, the only time I've ever felt really nauseaous has been 1st thing in the morning, when I get out of bed, or if I'm hungry. I'm usually ok if I eat something.

Not trying to offend you, and as nice as it was of your friend's grandmother to tell you that women with bad m/s means they are having a healthy baby, I think that is a bit of a myth because I hardly had any with DD and she was just perfect, and I know many women who haven't had it and their baby's have been fine too.

Kayla, so people who hardly have any m/s have an increased risk of getting breast cancer? I've never heard of that, but I don't need any increased risks it's already in my family, so I hope that's not true  but who knows, what will be, will be!

Bel1978, I can only imagine how hard this must be for you. Will you be stopping at 2 kids?? I think you're very brave for going through it all a 2nd time.

Hey lovely ladies,

Katie - as soon as I figure out how to scan the pages in into one or two files I'll let you know.

Amanda - so jealous (!!) that you & Kayangel haven't had m/s, although I can take that news a little better now that it's definitely starting to subside.

I totally agree with you about the capsules - a friend told me about the Ambo hire scheme so I went with that (obviously, didn't research ANY alternatives). The capsule is cleaned thouroughly between hires and the liner is either brand new (ours was) or has been sterilised so it's absolutely perfect. Second only to being given one from someone, it made good economical sense to me too.

Bel - happybirthday for yesterday!

Catalytic - It sounds you have quite enough on your plate at the moment. Is it possible to apply for a late withdrawl (without academic penalty) given special circumstances? If not, I guess you can either just get what you can done for the unit - trying not to stress yourself - and just accept the result. There's a chance it won't be as bad as you suspect and certainly can't be worse than just leaving it go. OR, if you need this stress totally & completely out of your life now, just leave the unit and come back to it all when you are feeling better. Good luck with the decision!

EmsMum72 - look forward to hearing out the scan went.

TTC - you poor thing! That's madness! I reckon you should get every family member and friend calling the receptionst and explain (in no uncertain terms) just what the consequences of her inaction are. I don't usually condone harrassement, but if that's what it takes in this case....

Cheers,
S

katiemaree
08-11-2007, 10:07 AM
Guys, I am not saying that your baby is unhealthy if you aren't sick, but it seems people think there is something WRONG if they have morning sickness, when it really is the opposite. You're not being sick because you have a bug, it is because of the progesterone- and that is ESSENTIAL to your babies growth. Some women just react to it better than others.

PrincessJasmine

I can't tell if I'm sick or not. I get a bit queezy around dinner time, so I pop a pilll and usually end up having a late dinnner. I find I have to eat dinner really early and maybe snack again later that night. I don't eat breakfast, never have.

It's killing me that I can't have coffee, I find it really hard to wake up in the mornings.

I emailed my tutor, he has suggested I change me assignment a little and given me a weeks extension. If I don't at least try I won't be able to forgive myself. I hate giving up, it's not in my nature. I just hope I can get through it without overly stressing. I've also got another unit starting on the 23rd, I dropped it down to one fairly mundane subject. Gender culture and society.

I just heard a shocking story one the news (may be distressing to some)

Not sure which hospital but a woman who had a 30 hour labour was left alone with her baby for 2 hours after the birth. The mother fell asleep and accidentaly suffocated her newborn.

katiemaree
08-11-2007, 10:10 AM
oh, the important hint with eating food all the time is that you have to start eating in the morning before you feel REALLY sick... it doesn't cure the sick feeling but is more of a preventative thing.

yay!! Im 12 weeks today.... heres my happy dance :smiliedance: :smiliedance: :smiliedance: :smiliedance:

mel- i read in the pregnancy and birth magazine that getting moring sickness decreases ur chance of getting breast cancer, im so sorry to scare you i dont mean too i only meant to show that there are benefits of getting m.s... didnt u get m/s tho? breast cancer always runs in my family so i am worried.

bel- thats right there are so many lovely ladies out there that cant have kids it breaks my heart. my dream has always been to be a mummy and i hope to be the best mummy in the world. :D

Thanks for the birthday wishes...

Em.. Yeah only 2 bubs for us if some thing happens to this bub im only going to give it one more attempt.... DH wanted 2 i only originaly wanted 1..... i know i will be happy with 2 at the end... but its like a chore taking needles and remembering your tablets etc.... i know i will be happy dont get me wrong.. but at 5am when sienna is yelling to have a bottle i put the blanket over my head... only for a second of course as she comes 1st... we wanted back to back babies as i dont know how long i can take off work and my appointments are fortnightly at the moment......

Kayangel - im sure you will be the best mummy there is... my mummy died when i was 21... it doesnt matter what age you are as long as you try your best... and when they look up at you as if you are the most important person in the world and smile.. its worth every second.... even at 5am... grrrr

Hate to put a damper on the M/S theory i had major MS with one of my bubs and they ended up having a hernia, heart attached to its stomach, a leg didnt form right and so on.. my OB called it before it was classed as a stillborn so i had a D&C.. not to say this is common... but the MS theory is just that a Theory...

Maddisonsmummy - how did the U/S go???

I have had 4 already... due to my condition....

Good on you for making the call - just do what you can and try not to stress yourself. When you feel those stress hormones building up just use this avenue to vent (we fellow students DEFINITELY understand). Best of luck with it!

Amandaw - in answer to your question about studies. Umm I'm a bit embarressed to answer actually. I was supposed to finish my masters (org psych) 8 months after DD was born, but to avoid doing the thesis I upgraded to PhD - which was great fun at first (playing with the minds of first yr students - just kidding). About 5 months ago I realised I'd have to start writing my dissertation so I decided to swap back to the Masters (only have to write the damn thesis) ..... so, have 3 months to get the thesis written that I've been working hard to avoid for 2 years! Shocking  !

just got home not long ago

the sonographer was using a new ultrasound machine so she had no idea what buttons done what so we got a nice long look at bubs (around an hour), the whole time bub did not stop moving, kept summer-salting around and wriggling. we got heaps of waves. the lady said everything looked great and we're in a very low risk catorgory for bub having down syndrome. bubs heartbeat was also 164 beats per minute! the pix i got were **** so we got a dvd. i took 2 pix off the dvd with my camera so they arent the best quality but they give you an idea. im going to watch the dvd soon and see if i can get any more pix.

bubs head
http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m76/MaddisonsMummy/us001.jpg

you have to use your imagination a bit for this pic, it is bubs face/body side on. you can make out the head, where the eye sockets are, the nose, the mouth, side on of the neck and chest, and the little thing down the bottom is an arm.

http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m76/MaddisonsMummy/us003.jpg

ETA: bubs head is 2cm's across, and bubs length is 6cm's head to bum hehehe

Catalytic - are you able to keep down vitamins?? At this stage, the baby is realistically 3 inches long (medium goldfish as quoted in my book ?!?!!?) and the actual food amount isn't the be-all-and-end-all at this stage. I know that vitamin tablets are no replacement for 'real' products, but if you can take the 'stress' of feeling bad about not eating/keeping down food away, it may help. Also if you DESPERATELY need a coffee in the morning (even just 1/2 strength) - I'd go for it - again, while maybe not perfect practice, 1 coffee would have a negligable impact, and happy mummy = happy everyone  ...good luck with the extension!

That story was a Brisbane based hospital (not sure if the public or private part) a few years ago - tragic definitely.... I was SOOOOOO paranoid about being awake when C was a new born - I started nodding off one night in the rocking chair while bfing her and nearly dropped her - a bit of a shock awakening!!!

Sam - it makes me giggle that you traded UP to avoid a smaller task  I did mine as a subject based masters (rather than research...didn't think I'd be able to find a topic I was that interested in to focus on it for the whole time)......our final subject was a 10 000 word professional practice project, so maybe the research masters would have been less time consuming anyway?!?!

Kayangel - good luck with that pledge  We will all be the best people/parents that we can be, but I second Bel with the fleeting thoughts at stupid hours of cold mornings ... can't have been too bad if most of us are going back for 2nds

I haven't tried taking vitamins yet. Can't really aford it at the moment. The car is broken down now as well, $150 to fix.

I bought some tablets last time and never ended up taking them, I'm hopeless remembering to take pills no matter what I do. Thankfully my eating seems back to normal the last couple of days. I just want to eat all the stuff I'm not meant to eat.

Glad your scan went well MadisonsMummy :) Did you have to pay extra to get a copy of the images on DVD? I didn't know they offered that...who did the scan was it MIA?

MaddisonsMummy, so glad to hear that your scan went well.

Kayla, I don't know if I'd class what I've had as m/s. A bit of nausea, tired, emotional, sore (.)(.)'s but that's it really. I always think of m/s as :barf: and really unwell. My mum died of breast cancer when I was 16, so it's already something I have to monitor. Congrats on reaching the 12 week mark :yelclap: , I have 4 days to go :fingerscrossed: .

Speaking of vitamins, what has everyone been taking - folic acid, elevit, blackmores?? I've been taking elevit, as prescribed by OBGYN.

The hospital where I'm having my 12 week scan don't do DVD's, it says so on the letter they gave me a couple of weeks ago. I'm seriously considering having a 4D one done at about 26weeks, but it's not cheap!

I just had 2 chicken rissoles for lunch (which I made last night). I heated them in the microwave for 1 minute and they were very hot, particularly on the outside, but probably only quite warm on the inside. I should have heated them for at least 2 minutes :banghead: until they were steaming! I hope this wasn't a stupid move on my part, time will tell I guess.

I am shocking with remembering to take tablets, so i find the best time to take them is just before bed, then it becomes your bedtime routine. I am taking a pregnancy supplement and omega 3 fish oil. Later i will start with some calcium and magnesium maybe to try to help the afterpains. I will be getting magnesium phosphate for after the birth to try to stop the afterpains, mine are killers, worse then labour.

Hi all.

My name is Rebecca and I am expecting baby number 2 in May, so thought I'd finally pop in and join this thread.

Seems we're a chatty bunch, so hopefully I'll be able to keep up:D

At the moment I have a cold, I can't stop coughing, I'm not getting any sleep, my 13 month old also has a cold and is coughing all night - hence the little sleep, my DH is away for work until next weekend, and my dad and step mum arrive on the weekend to stay for a week. :banghead: :hair:  Not the best time to get sick. And I can't take anything for it which makes it even worse. Panadol doesn't help. Sucking on lozenges hasn't helped. Vicks doesn't help. I really just need a good nights sleep....I should probably get used to not having one of them for a little while yet though:laughing:

Anyone have any suggestions to help me get rid of this awful bug?

Off topic - Julie I saw in the May Mums Intro Thread that you live in Biloela. So does my mummy. Told you it was off topic:D

Afterpains??!! When do these happen and for how long? I've never heard anything about magnesium phosphate...
Maybe because I had a c-section I didn't have afterpains I don't know. All I remember is when the epidural finally wore off later that night and I could feel my legs again, i had the worst pain in my life. I thought this was related to being cut open. The pain was so severe I couldn't sleep and for the following two days was on morphine tablets. All I remember was that I was in constant tears groaning in agony buzzing the midwifes every 10 minutes for something to stop the pain. All they offered was morphine tablets every three hours, they did nothing for me that night... it was really awful, can I expect it to be worse with a natural birth?

:( :gloomy: I'm close to loosing it with DP at the moment. Everything that can do wrong is going wrong at the moment. Car is broken down so DP thinks there is no point looking for work, he still hasn't called the real estate or gas/power to get extensions. We had an extension until yesterday and still have not paid, now I'm worried that the power will get cut off next week...I can't take much more of this.:hair:

Hey All

Catalytic - you sooo don't need the stress of that. :( I hope you get your car fixed and your DP gets off his butt and gets some work. I'd be fuming!

Maddisonsmummy - sounds like your scan was awesome. Glad to hear all is good with bubs.

Bel - wow i really admire you and not having any support of grandparents would be so hard.

Amanda and sammum - Wow you have undertaken some pretty serious study! lol I don't know how you could do it, my brain feels fried just thinking about what i need at the shops these days! lol

Things here are fine, still tired, been having tightenings in my tummy guess it's just stretching, i really hope everything is ok. I am looking forward to my scan now would be good for some reassurance.

Oh afterpains....... one lady had her pelvis out of line and couldnt walk.. another couldnt sit down.... i was just lucky... as for those so called pelvic floor excercises i never knew what they were... but try going to the toilet after having a baby for those who havent i thought it was the funniest thing.... it was like some one poured a bottle of water right through me i had no control at all once you started....

V8- the hardest thing about not having parents is that they didnt make our wedding.... only a couple of visitors in hospital when every one else had grandparents and some great grandparents but the hardest was a couple of weeks ago at sienna's christening there were 4 bubba's being christened and Father Paul asked for Grandparents and Great Grandparents to come up.... My Husbands Sister and her husband were Godparents and a friend.. so they missed them just as much i turned away with sienna with a tear in my eye as we didnt have any one to come up.. sienna's godfather was the same.... Just to add we didnt meet each others parents.. they died before we met

But im sooo lucky to have the best husband ever.. we never fight..... except when he tells me what i can and cant eat to make the baby healthy grrr or when he turned the hot water temp down at the gas heater so i wouldnt burn the babies... grrr again..... never a fight maybe a horrible look though..... I love my hot showers.

Bel, that is really tough :( That is sad, i couldn't imagine what it would be like with no parents, my mum grew up without a father as he died when she was 11 and then her mum died when we were 12, so we never really knew our grandma on one side which is very sad. And we now only have one grandparent left. But yeah would be so hard without your own parents. :( :hugs:

Bel, I know what you mean about not having your parents around. My mum died 18 years ago, and dad died 6 years ago and it breaks my heart that my daughter will never know her wonderful, loving grandparents who would have spoilt and loved her so, so much. She talks about them often, and tells me that she misses nanna and pop and wishes she could go and see them in heaven. I say to her 'you won't be going to heaven for a very, very long time, but we can always think of them, and they're always with us, in our hearts'. She also looks at the brightest stars in the sky and calls them the nanna & pop stars :gloomy: .

Hubby's parents live in NZ and aren't your typical 'doting' grand-parents, don't think they've ever bought my DD anything since she's been born, and DD has only seen grandma 4 times in her life (mind you g'ma never brings her anything, but that is another story and I won't get in to that cause it makes me angry), and met g'pa once. MIL is a Jehovas Witness  (hubby's not) and doesn't celebrate christmas/birthdays or any occasion so DD basically just has us at Christmas, birthday etc., so I spoil her rotten.

I didnt get any afterpains with my first, second birth i got them for about a day, and the third birth they lasted about three days, they were horrible, the pain went right down to my knees. I threw up every time i fed the baby from the rush of hormones. If the tablets will help take that away i will give them a go. I would rather go through three labours then have the next lot of afterpains.

Bel thanks I'll try and get some eventually, my friend came around today with her son, she mentioned the blackmores were on special for $30 at the moment. It's so pathetic I can't even afford to spend that...

I swear, MEN!!!:hair: I've gone as far as packing a bag of clothes and sorting the rest of the wardrobe out for a future move (whether we get kicked out, or I decide to leave) I felt better after actually doing something...
I wont leave him but we're both stressed and just can't deal with each other at the moment. The only way to keep the peace is to keep to my room (yes MY room, he doesn't sleep in there...)
It must sound like I have this horrible relationship...it's not always like that, I guess I'm just venting a little here as I don't really have anyone to talk to about it other than my mum (who likes to play both sides). I love him, it's just we have really struggled through our whole relationship, not just with each other, but financially has been the hardest.
So sick of being accused of not listening and being selfish...takes one to know one I say!

Anyway......

I can't imagine what I'd do without my mum. Neither DP or I have ever known our dads. DP was adopted and his mother split with her husband when he was quite young. DP moved to Australia 13 years ago to meet his birth mother. His mother is in NZ, and he is fortunate to have his grandfather still with us.
I just never knew my dad, don't even know who he is. I grew up living with my grandad, so when he passed it was really hard, still is nearly 5 years on :crying: .

Today Jasmine gave Thomas a kiss, and then a cuddle. Problem is she's nearly a foot taller (only weeks between
