View Full Version : Hawthorne Mums
We've just moved to Hawthorne from Sydney. I have a 3 mth old son called Darcy and a 7 year old daughter called Georgia. I'm looking for a mothers's group that exists or am happy to start one. Perhaps a walking group?. [Arial]B]Would love to hear from other mothers in the area, even if it is to get an idea on local facilities + gyms etc. Thanks! :D[/[/COLOR]B]

Hi Jody,
If you are interested a group of us Northside mums get together each fortnight. We alternate it between parks at the moment but I am sure it will evolve into more venues.
Anyway I can let you know the details of the next one if you are interested even though you are on the Southside, Hawthorn is pretty accessible to the North.
Hope you and the family are settling into BRisbane life ok..
Cheers
Paula (mum to Grace - 9 months)
Dear Jody
I don't know if you got my private message, but I live at Woolloongabba, which is not too far from Hawthorne. I have 7yr old daughter and 17mth old daughter. I don't belong to a mother's group, but would be happy to meet up some time.
Hi Jody,
I'm in Morningside and have 5mth old boy, Akira. I have been looking for a mother's group in this area for some time. I am desparate to catch up with other mothers with babies in this area.
It will be great if I can join your mother's group & love the idea of an walking group.
I will send you an e-mail. Hope I can catch up with you & other mums in the area very soon!
Chat you later! ;)

Hi,
I live at Hawthorne and have only moved here six months ago from Ipswich [about 40mins] away. Have never lived in Brisbane before so am still trying to settle in. I am due to have my first baby in September and am feeling a bit lonely living here [my parents live in Mackay and my husbands parents live near Orange].
I love walking and walk almost every other day. As I'm still working it would need to be of an evening or weekend, otherwise keep me posted with any new groups that may form so I can join you in October :)
I have just logged onto the forum that I entered last year prior to my son's birth to see if there were any mothers with babies of a similar age group in the Morningside/Bulimba area who wanted to catch up and join a walking group or have coffee or whatever regularly.
We have not been in Brisbane long (from Sydney) and do not know many other mothers with babies my sons age.
Jody emailed me and I sent her a response over the weekend but please let me know if you are meeting up for any activities in case she did not receive my message.
I have a 5 1/2 month old son, Dominic and while I have met some mothers our meetings are a little haphazard and it would be good to meet regularly and form a mothers group.

Hi megz & Leoni,
Adair kindly invited me to the southside mother's group in Carindale, but I am still hoping to join/form the mother's group in this area. I have sent a message to Jody, but I haven't received the reply. (maybe she's busy! After all, she's a mother of two. :-))
It will be a bit hard to meet up during weekend/evenings, megz, but I will definitely keep you posted. I know how hard it is not having friends & family around when you have a baby. I have been living here in Morningside for 7yrs, but I haven't got non-working mum friends with the same age babies. (that's what you want when you have a young one!)
Anyway, send me a message/post if you want to contact me.
Thanks!
Yuki

I have just moved here from Christchurch in NZ and have two boys; Jamie who is 2 1/2 and Elliot who is 7 months. We are living in Bulimba and would like to get into a mother's group or walking group, coffee or anything. We don't know anyone here so are feeling pretty much on our own.
Carolyn
Hi Carolyn,
I am supposed to meet up with Leoni today, but I am not sure now as the weather is a bit sad today. Probably, we should organise a proper meeting-up at somewhere. Where is the best place to meet up for everyone? Oxford Street??
Yuki
I am keen to meet up. Any location suits me. I work Mon and Tues, so I am free on Wed, Thur, Fri. 9.30 is a good time for me, but I can work in with whatever suits everyone.
Hi all,
I chatted with Leoni & we decided to meet up next Wed.
Please come along if you can. Hope this is a star of the mother's group in this area.
When? Next Wed - 18 May, 10am
Where? Coffee Club on Oxford St
Hope to see you there!
Yuki ;)

Hi there ladies - just wondering if you are accepting more mums -- my name is Robyn and I have a little 8.5 month old boy named Mathew. We have just moved up to Hawthorne from Coffs Harbour just recently (two days ago) and both are keen to get out and meet some friends. I am looking forward to a good coffee and a great get to know ya chat. Let me know if you guys are still meeting up, thanks
As far as Yuki and I are concerned, all are welcome on Wednesday and hopefully we will be able to create a Mothers group from this meeting.
We hope to see you then.

Hi redracer,
Like Leoni said, you are more than welcome to come along. The more the merrier. :-)
If anyone else out there, come along!
Oh, in my last post, I meant to say "Hope this is a start of the mother's group in this area" , but I managed to write "Hope this is a star of the mother's group in this area"... Ooops!

Hi there,
It was really nice to see the other mums in the area. I think it was a good start and hope we can get together regularly. There were already a few plans popping up, so it will be good to do more fun activities.
Well, as we discussed, these are next Wednesday's details. If anyone else out there interested, just let us know. We are a friendly bunch of mums... :)
When? Next Wed - 25 May, from 10am (some of us may turn up earlier - 9.30ish straight after dropping off older kids at school. )
Where? Hawthorne Park - Playground area off Riding Road. (near Morninside Primary School)
What to bring? Picnic rug for smaller babies if you like. There is a shaded area with a table & benches.
In case of bad weather, does anyone have a suggestion?? I would like to invite you guys to our house, but we don't have enough parking space as our house is on a main road. :-(
Hope to see you all on Wed.

Hello Leonie,
I have been emailing with Yuki about your mothers group.
I am not due until September but was wondering wether I could still come to the mothers group that has been set up in the Balmoral/Bulimba/Hawthorne/Morningside area.
I live in Balmoral and would love to meet up with other Mothers and Mum's to Be in my area.
I don't have any friends in this area that I can socialise with and would love to meet up with you gals and chat and learn. It would be nice to have something established when my baby comes along for the future.
Im 35 and anxious about upcoming event
Look forward to hearing from you soon.

Hi Everyone,
Jonah and I live at Norman Park (the Morningside/Hawthorne corner) and we are very keen to meet other new mums in our local area. Jonah is my first and is nearly 3 months and I am 36. I am only a 30 min walk from Bulimba. Are you still meeting up at Hawthorne Park on Wednesdays?
Thank you
Karen
Hi guys,
Yes, the mother's group still keep going! Unfortunately, I started working full-time and also moving to Carindale, so I am not able to come and missing them a lot! Though, now we are having once a month dinner night, so that's something I can join.
Anyway, there won't be a park meeting-up next wednesday (27 July), but I am sure there will be regular one after that as long as the weather is ok.

:) Hi! I am currently living in Nrth Qld at the moment, but am moving back to Brissie in 5 weeks, to Seven Hills/Norman park.Would love to meet new mums in the Morningside/Camp Hill/Norman Park area.Hope to hear from anyone soon. :) ]
Hi,
I'm finally an 'at home mum' [for the time being anyway]. Just waiting for bub to arrive now. I started my maternity leave today and it feels great! I'm due in 10 days time and I don't know if I should try and relax and ignore the 'nesting' feeling that is compelling me to clean!
Would love to join a mothersgroup. When is your next meeting? Is it at the park or dinner. Having the two options sounds great.
Look forward to meeting you all soon
Meagan
