Last post from Oct chat:

Didn't have a great night, but I was so tired last night that I decided before going to bed that I wouldn't deliberately try and resettle him if I had any inkling that he was hungry. So, Josh fed at 7:30pm, 11:30pm and 3am. But, when he then woke again at 5:40am I crawled out of bed and took him back to bed with me. Unfortunately 1/2 hour later my back said that the way I was lying wasn't a good idea, so I needed to get up. Josh woke up as a result, but I didn't feed him, I just let him play til 7am when he went back to sleep.

I had to wake him (of course!!) at 8:30am for a quick feed before my mum arrived to take him for the morning. So, I've been Josh-free since 8:45am and it's now 2:15pm and apparently he's been fine. He's had 2 or 3 lots of solids and a big sleep and lots of fun. Mum did notice him rubbing his ears more (which has been bothering me too, but I've been too busy to do much about it), so she's now at the doctors getting his ears checked before bringing him home (he had an ear infection 2 weeks ago). It may be his ears that are bothering him overnight and not the milk issue.

Anyway, I've enjoyed my free time and got his dedication invites made and sent and a present sent to my friend in germany who had her baby boy last week.

livesmum ... :smiliedance: for three little girls! congrats!

janmum ... this place is addictive. We all take breaks here and there to get stuff done. My house is a mess and my to-do list is a mile long, and yet I spend time on bubhub

eating went off solids for a few days. She loves salty things. For those of you givcing vegemite are you worried about the salt intake? I made beef soup and put a teaspoon of salt in it and started to think maybe its too much salt? I read an article about a baby dying of salt poisoning. I wonder if giving Clea soup with some salt in it is bad?

Without vegemite, we wouldn't survive. I figure there are a lot of healthy Australians out there (me included) who grew up with Vegemite, IMO it's really not going to hurt.

Tabby - yep in Perth - this weekends swimming lesson should be heaps better hopefully!
Does this mean you're in Perth? Sorry I missed the orginal question. Fi so, check out the Jan Mums Christmas thread and see if you can make it.

A better night last night, but still not trouble free. Might take TJ for tests after we come home from holidays if it continues.

Had better go, work calling,

Lisa

Thanks for your congratulations, I think it will be very special having 3 little girls.

Freddie I grew up with just brothers too, so it will be interesting to see how a family of girls goes as this will definately be it for us!

Bridget is getting on my nerves. It is 4pm and no sleep all day. I put her in the cot and she just screams- she is teething but I have given pain relief etc and she just wont settle, I cant stand it anymore!! I have achieved nothing today as she has consumed my time. She is in the cot now whinging, I am leaving her there a while as I need some down time!:hair:

I feel like a bad mum. Josh has an abscess in his ear - behind the ear drum and the drum is about to burst! Poor baby! No wonder he's been screaming most of the night and wanting us nearby during the day. It also makes sense as to why he's been feeding better on the right than the left. So, he's now on different antibiotics and pain relief and I'm waiting for the scream that tells me his drum is burst ... I'm not looking forward to it.

Mim, Poor Josh & Poor You. You did the right thing going back to the Docs and if it's any consolation Josh will feel a lot of relief once the drum has burst. My brother had a really bad infection a few years back and ended up in hospital. His ear drum has healed completely too! Big :hugs:

Liviesmum, I think 3 PINK ones is pretty cool, not to mention easier & more practical. Now you can seriously think about names - what is DD1's name? I still want #3 and am quite happy to have 3 BLUES.

Tabby, clever Katie with her cruising! M has become a whiz in his walker and is very determinedly getting to everything he sets his sights on (DS1's artworks on the fridge are copping some punishment)

Mouse, we love vegemite over here too!

I hear lots of paper scrunching and bin drum beating going on behind me - what is my little monkey up too I wonder, See you all later!

Hi ladies,

Mim - :hugs: for poor little Josh. Hope he is on the mend. does the ear drum have to burst or is it possible the abscess will heal???

Liviesmum - Whoohoo - hooray for you. Can't believe you are going to have 3 girls. How wonderful for you. Will you share the name with us or is that going to be a surprise?

Tabby - Kelsey has been chatting lots too. AFter you mentioned Katie copying birds a couple of weeks ago I have noticed Kelsey meowing like the cat. Also I say "good girl" to her alot and now she says something like "goo grr" that sounds like good girl. Also heard "aaooo" which sounds like hello......

We went to the paed on tuesday so Kelsey could have her heart checked (VSD - hole in the heart). Apparently it is still as loud and clear as ever. I still hope it might close over by itself.

Well off to a quick tidy up of the toys.

Take care

Flicka: :fingerscrossed: it still closes over on its own.

Sammy: the bin!! Mines gone to into the cupboard, she kept pulling everything out while in the walker lol.

Mim: Dont feel bad hun!!!!!!!!!!!! there will be many times ahead for all of us missing things like that and your not a bad mum!!! :hugs:
Hope those meds kick in quick and alls well real soon.

liviesmum: Hope you managed to get Bridget down for the night much easier than the day has been. :hugs:

Just a quick hello, like Janmum have had to work hard at cutting down bubhub time - struggling to do the minimum hours I promised my bosses. I thought it was a breeze last week when Cameron was having huge naps but as per Cordelia's 'contradiction' post the last few days we've been back to 2 short naps. Goes down easily enough in the first place (after the initial 30second protest scream) but won't resettle once awake. Last few days have been 5.15awake, 8.30-9.30nap, 1-1.30nap and 7pm bed with at least one night feed. Way too much awake time for me to get any work done!

Flicka, going to have to start being more pedantic about cleaning my floors too. Cameron spots every little speck of anything on the floor and picks it up with pincer grip for close examination and then into his mouth. Rescued a rubber band the other day  . Outside it is leaves. Met up with some other mums last week and C scared me by choking and gagging and vomiting until I found the culprit - a dried leaf half way down his throat. Not that he's learnt his lesson, tried same again today.

And yay for another little girl Liviesmum. I love my man but a little girl to spoil and stick fairy wings on would be lovely!

Korah: Did you test yet? I need to uncross everything I have crossed for you, everything is going numb! so please come let me know lol

cate: any progress on the paper clip? Did they say it might take a while or pass through quickly?

thanks everyone for your thoughts on josh. The abscess just means pus (sorry TMI) in the ear and it has to get out somehow ... either by bursting the drum or by going down the eustachian (sp?) tube. The reason it has formed though is cause the tube is blocked or too small, so the doctor was pretty sure that the drum would burst to relieve the pressure. My brother has this so many times as a child we all lost count and had to have 'tubes' (artificial tubes put in to keep his real tube opn) put in about 6 times before he was 6 years old. According to the doctor yesterday the fact that Josh has this at such a young age is a bad thing and makes it more likely that he'll need surgery for those artificial tubes. :(

Having said all that, the night wasn't too bad, cause I filled him up with nurofen, panadol, demazin and antibiotics. He fed twice, but that was at midnight and 4am and he's still asleep at nearly 9am, so that's good. Poor baby must not be feeling 100%.

Well, my house is still full of clutter and junk, despite the fact that we filled a 4 cubic metre skip last weekend, so I should get going on the house ... we've invited 100 people for lunch sunday week (after josh's dedication).

Mouse - thanks for telling me about the christmas meet would love to come and meet you all.

Mim - try not to worry too much about a possible operation. Jack had to have a hernia operation at 4 months, I was in a complete panic just so upset. But the surgeon just sat us down and said 'this is so routine for me and he is going to be fine' while he wasn't being blaze (sp?) it was comforting to know that he did these operations day in day out.

livesmum - congratulations, three girsl - very very exciting. A friend of mine has three sisters, all are very close and close to their mum and they love it. Helps that they are all the same size and so constantly share amazing clothes. Plus always have someone to go to girly movies etc

Hope Bridget and Cordelia have long naps today.

Jack is still waking at night but have 2 hour naps in the morning:yelclap:

Great, will PM you with my address closer to the date.

DD1 had a hernia operation at 6 weeks, so I know it can all be a bit scary. How's Jacks scar(s) going? DD1's scar have completely disappeared now.

Yet another crappy night here. TJ didn't do a poo before bed, so had wind pains throughout:banghead: . Can't seem to win either way with her tummy at the moment.

After a quick look this morning am hapy to say we've now got 4 top teeth. :fingerscrossed: this means no teething problems while on holidays.

Have a great weekend,
Lisa

yeah, we're catering ourselves, but that doesn't bother either of us as we've catered for bigger events before. The problem is that our house is full of 'stuff' and it needs a huge bomb under it. We're working hard, but it's a lot of work. There are boxes of stuff we haven't opened in 5 years or more just sitting in the middle of our rumpus room!

Just got sprung by dh, better go and keep cleaning up :)

Hi everyone

Mim - Hope Josh gets & feels better soon. Both of my ear drums burst when i was little. Thanks goodness i dont remember but my mum said it was horrible. Hopefully it doesnt happen to Josh, i think it would be very painful. Poor bubba :hugs:

LiviesMum - Congrats on another girl. They will be very close. My 3 are & they get along so well, its great. Makes it easier too when it comes to sharing rooms, clothes etc.

My SIL is 19 weeks this week & they find out tomorrow what they are having. Will it be my first nephew or my 7th neice.

Well its been quite a busy morning here. DD1 had her first transition session @ school. She goes every friday in November & then one day in December. It was very strange sending her off with other prep kids & teachers lol. I found out i have to pick her uniform up in 3 weeks... Scary... never thought the day would come that my baby would go to school lol. She is so excited though so i suppose thats really good.

Hey ladies, thanks for all your congratulations, it is nice to share the news with you guys as we are keeping the sex of the baby tight lipped with everyone else. It was easier than I thought- I was asked today at work if I found out what I was having and i very calmly said 'NO', which is a great achievement as I cant lie and if I try people see right through me. I think I pulled this white lie off well.

Sammy and Flicka- I will share a name when i get one. DD1's name is Olivia, then I have Bridget and I really like the name Pheobe- but of course I was watching B&B this week and come to the realisation it has a character called Bridget and another called Pheobe so not sure if I should go there??

MIM- I hope Josh's ear gets better soon- and goodluck with the catering- a big job but always worth it.

tired*mummy- How cute- off to school with a little uniform- it was an emotional day for me when DD1 went off to transition in her uniform! Thanks for your nice words about girls- you and me are on par with quite a few things now- birth dates of Dh's, children, # of children and sexes of those children!

I enjoyed my day at work today as Bridget has been a nightmare for the past few days. It was good to get that release.
Anyway better go, going to mum's for dinner so need to get the crew ready, hope all have a good weekend!

Hiya all!!

Yes a lot of the same things going on here, especially v similar to Cat13 and identi-bub Cameron to Hunter. These SHORT sleeps and settling inability sure does make it v v difficult to work during the day for sure. The arvo sleep today, all prepped for a nice long one..I had a tea all made for the start of it..it was still warm and unfinished when he woke!!45mins  But bigger and harder things I know.... Josh's ear for one and catering for 100, WOW Mim!! Imagine the house after this weekend, arh wonderful bliss. Hope it all goes well.

So so lovely LiviesMum and CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!! Also wonderful yrDD1 TiredMummy heading off to transition to school. Wow. Also hope all went well for your very special day on Wednesday. :hugs:

FreddieThat is SO great about Hamish settling!!! I was so buoyed by your success, am going to try it tonight. H used to have the early morning feed 4-5am back in my bed..somehow over the last week he has become a co-sleeping bub and this I really don't want for me!! Eck. But was just too tired about 2wks ago and would try to settle for a while and then just take him back to bed..so much so that for three nights this week he has woken and been unable to settle while I'm still working about 10.30 that then he has a feed..by the end of it he is asleep and I am asleep and haven't transferred him..eck the cycle is not good.. of course he is lovely and cuddly, but does remind me of a lamprere (sp) nasty little critters that suck on rock walls under waterfalls!!! suck suck suck all night. Hmm WILL CHANGE IT TONIGHT..should head to bed now :) He really really screams if not fed though! Maybe I will feed on the lounge like I used to and try offering water straight up.. When he has tantrums I do wonder how ingrained it all is??? Or if he is different to other kids?? he really really spits it about wanting things ie to touch a bright orange flower. Am sure they all do..tell me they all do!?? Oh he is also so so giggly laughy happy too esp getting 'chased' around piles of cushions half chasey half peek a boo :)

Welcome StrawB and Talon and family, YAH!! How was the trip, you must all be glad to be here. Looking forward to meeting you and JanMum+Jack at Mouse's excellent to host XmasMeet

HELS - GREAT to hear from you and that gorgeous little Reece!!!! YAH YAH on the TTC

Oh wow and they are just glorious fun at this age aren't they!???? H's newest thing is pointing, pointing and then going 'hmm, cat' of something that sounds like it is just so cute.. the hmming is the best bit, let me name everything in my world.. it is very useful for directing Mummy..point point point.

Oh and extra teeth coming, so almost 6 total. And yesterday could sit up from commando crawling ..but today isn't. he he. Wish me luck tonight!!! xxS Sleep well all and happy sunny weekends I hope for all.

Oh this made me laugh. I am always pulling leaves out of Clea's mouth. After all it is Fall where I am so there are leaves everywhere! I am the bad mum who pulls it out and then says that its good for her immune system  as the other mums look horrified! But we did have a scare the other say where I thought clea may have swallowed a piece of metal. Took her to the doctor who said we should watch her poo for 3 days and then if we dont find the piece of metal in the house or in her poo then we need an xray./ But we found the metal under the lounge. It was those little metal bits they put on new socks when they package them up, you know the bits that keep them together? It was so stressful.

liviesmum congratulations, ahhh I would love another girl.

charis Clea has a temper! Today I took the bag of carrots off her (which she had unpacked from the shopping bag) and she sat on the floor and screamed and screamed and then cried. I left her for about a minute hoping she would find something else to distract, then picked her up.

Feeding Its very common over here in germany to give bubs camomile tea. There are also some baby teas. I have started giving Clea about 50mls of weak tea in her bottle every few days. Clea still feeds on booby alot and sometimes I know she is comfort feeding and I give her a bit of tea. This sounds horrible, I still let her comfort feed but not when we are out and about.

mim1
03-11-2007, 05:45 AM
dragonflu ... what's horrible about comfort feeding? I think it's fantastic as long it isn't annoying you. I comfort feed Josh quite a bit, especially at the moment when he's got ear pain and he is still upset despite panadol and nurofen. What's more comforting to a bub than a feed? Of course, when they want 'comfort' every hour or when you're out at the shops, it's another thing entirely!

Strawberry ... :yelclap: for making it to Perth! I hope Talon's head cold is all gone ASAP. All the best for settling in. You're in a motel/hotel place aren't you? Does that mean you need to look for a house now?

'food' ... I pulled quite a few leaves out of josh's mouth when we were playing outside the other day. His new favourite trick is to pull strips of the cardboard off the huggies boxes that I give him to play with. Where the lid was stuck down, the paper lining of the cardboard is easy to pull at. I do my best at pulling any loose bits off, but evidently not good enough. Last night dh was trying to put him to sleep and not having much success. Josh kept spitting his dummy out, and refusing to relax. Then he did a little cough and spat out a wad of cardboard/paper! Little rascal!

play ... Josh is following more commands now, like 'look' and I know that he knows what 'no' means, but it doesn't stop him, usually quite the opposite. We've set up the furniture in the lounge so that there is only a small opening to the rest of the house. We usually block that opening with a plastic box on wheels, or a big beanbag. We call it the 'drawbridge'. The moment Josh sees that the drawbridge is up, he's off like a rocket, and his giggling gets louder and his crawling faster as he gets through the gap and out into the 'real' world. Sometimes he stops mid gap and looks back at us and grins, cheeky monkey :).

Josh's ears ... well, no burst ear drum yet, but despite panadol and nurofen, he was in too much pain to swallow solids yesterday. At one point he had a couple of mouthfuls, then I saw him do a big swallow, cringe and then after he refused to open his mouth. So, milk, milk and more milk was the order of the day. Thankfully, he's drinking milk without a problem. He slept from 10pm til 2am, was a little hard to resettle after that feed, but now at nearly 7am he's been asleep for over 4 hours.

So, after using this massive post to procrastinate, I should make the most of the quiet house and sleeping baby and go through more boxes of junk. Yes, it's hard work, but once it's all done we will feel SO much better! I'm looking forward to that feeling and I hope it's this week (before the 'big day' next Sunday).

MIM- Poor Josh, it just sounds so horrible for him, it just makes you fell like crying for him.

DFB- what a scare with the metal! The litte tykes are always putting something in their mouth, I am on to DD1 constantly about picking up after herself!!

Charis- Funny about the pointing, Bridget is into that too atm. It is really cute, she is also shaking her head for 'no'. Last night she was sitting on my bed and I said 'lay down', she smiled and shook her head- could not help but laugh and tell her she was cute.

Strawberry- hope Talon feels better soon, nothing more annoying than a head cold.

Raining here today (again), which is good to see as we dont see alot of it. The only problem is everybody in the street mowed their lawns before the rain came- we did not get to it, so our lawn looks like a jungle!

Keep waking in the middle of the night and laying there- dont know why, but think that is what is making me so tired- I am actually waking at the times Bridget use to wake for a feed when she was first born- surely my body is not getting me ready for bub 3 now??

Oh well, best go and work out how to tackle the mountain of washing I have on this rainy:rain: Day!

mim: So cute on the "look" and finding his way through the drawbridge lol.

hi everyone, lots to catch up on after just one day - no power here yesterday so internet junkie didn't get her fix...
hope Josh is feeling better today Mim, hope it doesn't last too long. We've been so lucky (touch wood) with nothing worse than colds yet. Two bubs I know have had tonsilitis recently which sounds yuck...

welcome to Perth Strawb and family!! wow, with Janmum as well our numbers are rapidly expanding over here. Should be a great christmas meet at Mouse's and I reckon we'll make it for sure as it looks like my brother is coming later. We might be a bit grumpy tho as we have a family christmas do on the Saturday and my mum's group are doing a combined first birthday party on the Sunday - can see all sleep patterns going out the window that week!

well we've had great success with the night sleeps - Hamish has slept through the last two nights. He woke at 6am this morning, a gave him a quick feed and he went back to sleep until 8.30am!!! we didn't know ourselves, first weekend sleep in since I don't know when! So take heart Charis, its all possible but I think you have to go through crying it out for a bit to get there. From what we found, and the advice from Ngala, its easiest to do the hard work during the day and once day sleeps are sorted then the night gets easier. It has worked for us but it has been a good two months getting here and has meant keeping to a fairly structured routine in the day. At least it means you can plan your day quite easily though. And Hamish's day sleeps improved out of sight as soon as he started pushing himself around on the walker.

on the eating front, we're with you all on the leaves etc. Hamish likes mint and garlic chives from my herb garden. He choked on a bit of lettuce he stole from a picnic plate last week, and when we're outside I usually end up fishing out a bit of bark/ grass or something that he's snuck in without my notice. I try not to worry about it too much as they have to work these things out...I just try to make sure first that there isn't anything poisonous or too horrible around for him to eat. He absolutely hates me going anywhere near his mouth though which makes teeth cleaning a bit of a drama. we clean our teeth together but he's decided he doesn't like his 'brush' and will only use mine after I've finished. I suppose its all learning.

I wish I could describe Hamish's latest expression which is to tilt his head down, furrow his brow and make a kind of inquisitive hooooaaaaaw sound that is hilarious. I got it on camera but I can't work out how to upload movies to picasa...will have to work on that.

best stop blabbing and get on with the morning. Its a gorgeous day here and H is asleep again. Happy weekends everyone.
kx

ps yes congrats on the nephew tiredmummy!!

pps sorry to make this post even longer but YES absolutely to the scurrying off into places that are out of bounds! they're the most fun. If I put Hamish on the floor in our room without shutting the door he heads straight to the toilet as fast as he can go, takes a toilet roll from the basket and drops it in. I can't put the lid down as DH sat on it and it broke!

freddie: Can you even upload vids to picasa ?
Have had a few looks but cant see the option on mine, even with picasa2 program when highlight the vid the option to transfer to album doesnt light up.
I had to use youtube for mine.

wonderful news on the sleeps! thats great to hear.
lol wonder where he got the idea for that expression, they are just too funny now! Katie has a habit of looking at the floor while walking footpath, no idea what shes looking at?! hard to carry when head heavy though lol.

DFB: PHEW! Glad you found that metal safely tucked under the lounge. Have been onto all here now that they cant just put things where ever now Katies active, and Ive been this last week looking everywhere I go to make sure its all ready for her when (IF!) she gets past a few commandos lol.

Charis: Ah yes. I think this has to be the most wonderful age of all. Lots of looks at me when trying to know what some thing is and wanting to know. quizzical look?
Yesterday I huge 4wd pulled up beside us and Im sure she said look  while pointing at it and then she kept saying car over and over..

Have been in the garden again, almost there!!!!
Ah will be well worth it when I can just sit back and enjoy...Need some of those sun sails though..getting too hot for Katie out there and no way was that hat staying on..oh and no tree to sit under :(.

happy weekend all

just another quick note ...

Josh seems a lot better. He just ate a 60ml tub of yoghurt and a jar of pear/apricot. That's close to his normal dinner amount. He's currently sucking on a piece of watermelon and loving it! He's a lot more smiley this afternoon.

Our back and front yards look SO different, it's unbelievable. It's so good! Now, all that's left is the inside ...

tabby ... you can upload to google video, instead of youtube and it's free.

better go, the watermelon is all gone!

Glad Josh is feeling better Mim.

Glad also to hear Cameron is not the only leaf muncher. I too use the 'it's good for his immune system line' DFB.

Freddie, glad the sleeping is still going well. Not too bad here as a rule and longer naps back again today. A bit of a battle tonight but bound to happen every now & then.

Charis, can reassure you Hunter is not the only bub who cracks it when there is someting he wants. C is becoming an expert at this. An example is when grocery shopping he has to have my shopping list. Which gets soggy and starts breaking up very quickly so I try and get it back from him at which point tantrum begins. So then I give him my purse to suck. And when I need that I find something in the trolley to swap it with and so on and so on. Sometimes I wonder if I'm just delaying the inevitable and need to let him carry on and learn he can't have everything he wants but I figure there's plenty of time for that later.

arachel2, I'm more a throw it together person than a recipe person but I find most things freeze well. I cook up things like a tuna mornay, chicken stir fry, beef casserole and vege combos then just blend/mash put into icecubes and freeze. I try to keep the salt to a minimum but have started adding herbs & spices for flavour. But he really is eating more and more of what we eat now & preferring lumpy stuff/finger food to puree.

MIM- glad Josh is feeling better and getting some food in his belly. I find if Bridget is not well she will eat the custards and yoghurts not savoury foods.

TiredMummy- :smiliedance: Yeah for the first nephew, it will be a nice change to the family I am sure.

Tabby- the pointing is so cute. Atm we say to Bridget "Wheres Puppy, Wheres Puppy?" and she giggles and points at Olivia- so I guess when she starts saying puppy, it will be DD1 she refers to- it is so funny!

Yeah Freddie on your successful night sleeps, we successfully have Bridget sleep through the night.... if she is in our bed! My neck, shoulders and back get so sore though as she has to be craddled by me. This will have to come to an end, with bub in the belly and bub on the side in arms, I wont get any sleep as the pg progresses.

It rained most of yesterday which was welcomed, but no washing done so will have to tackle it today, There is a bit of sun, some wind and the prospect of more rain with dark clouds hovering in the distance. Better get on to it asap.

Enjoy your Sundays ladies!

hello strangers  lol

sorry ive been really slack popping in here to read some but not posting :)

mim sorry to hear little josh had a sore ear .. hugs ..

and so many new little bundles on the way .. congrats to all !

we are still chartering unknown waters with tayla ! we went and got our second opinion two weeks ago .. the new gi believes that tayla has 4 issues..
1) gerd - Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease - which we are treating with 30mg of losec and adult gaviscon as required
2) allergic rhinitus.. at this stage she reacts to food.. she will start getting allergic conjuncitivitus with certain foods we are trialling.. and her nose is like a tap .. so she is on patanol and zyrtec for this ..
3) she has mulitple food allergies.. so on neocate full time and started food trials again afew weeks ago .. we have many more fails than pass atm..
4) bowel issues.. maybe ibd (inflammatory bowel disease) we are getting tests done early next year.. we need to get her food allergies under control first and get her eating some solids.. she also has ig(a) and iron deficiency with whcih they relate to the bowel issues .. who knows ? she got a new med but its so foul tasting she wont take it ..i dont blame her it took me a few minutes to get the taste out of my mouth and i only had 1 drop ..she needs 2 mls .. wtf ?

i think at this stage they have ruled out allergic oesophagitus.. which is great for tayla .. as it would mean a few years off food.. however at this stage we are just doing very basic food trials and she is loving lamb mince.. we are not sure how her bowels fair with this one as we only started friday .. time will tell ..

better get going .. i need to get her some sleep

dragonflu ... what's horrible about comfort feeding? I think it's fantastic as long it isn't annoying you.

Oh no, I meant it souned horrible that i sometimes gave her tea when i know she wants a comfort feed. I love her comfort feeds. Without booby I am really not sure how i would settle her when she is have a sooky day. But yes, when we are out and about I am trying to stop the comfort feed.

tired*mummy congrats on the nephew. We are waiting for our little nephew to be born. He is a few days overdue, we are pretty excited but unfortunately since we are so far away we will only see him on webcam for now.

bossoflatch I dont know what to say. You poor things, hope it all gets sorted out soon and tayla feels comfortable.:hugs:

Us, we went out to dinner to a friends last night and there was a 13 month old there. Clea was so shy! Granted he was a bully boy about a heads worth taller than her. My goodness she looked like a little baby compared to this boy. He wasnt walking yet but made up for it with power crawling. Clea looked so funny walking around after him, such a little baby doll with her careful steps and concentrated look.

And sorry but I had to uncross my legs already, it was ttc time yaknow!! hehe.

boss: Goodness me! what a list, the poor love! Least you seem a bit wiser and closer than last time updated. Big :hugs: to tayla, she must be quite the little champ with all that on her plate!

Hi Ladies,

Perth Ladies - Thanks for making us welcome. Can't wait to meet you all.

Min1- We don't have to look for a house we were lucky to get a defence house before leaving Brissy. Staying at friends place till Thursday then we go to our motel until Monday 12 Nov. Furniture arrives and house is available on the 12 November.

tired mummy :yelclap: on your 1st nephew.

liviesmum - Congrats on another little girl to spoil. I wish bub would have let me find out, hopefully at my next scan i can. I would really like to be organised as this is going to be my last bub.

Better go hubby just made me a sundae.

Talk soon

Ha ha ha, Strawberry, Last bub...... yep thats what I said! We are very happy to be having another little girl, and this will definately be the last for me!

:fingerscrossed: Tabby with ttc this month, I do hope it happens for you soon and goodluck to you too korah!

Bosso..- My gosh, you poor thing, and poor Tayla, how horrible. This has been going on for some time now, I hope you get the answers you need.

DFB- it would have looked very funny seeing Clea walking around that bub. As for comfort feeding, I enjoyed it and freaked a little about settling when I stopped b/f but bridget was ok- she is a mummies girl and loves more hugs and cuddles, with me not dh. I just could not keep b/f with the pg, it was too tiring!

Bridget has been walking with this toy we have- you have probably seen them, you put blocks in the bottom on a tray and it has a handle to walk with. Bridget can take about 6-7 steps before she loses her balance- it is very cute though I think walking independently is still a long way off.

Had a bad day yesterday- Hayfever was terrible, could hardly see out of my eyes.

Better make the most of my day off, and get in the shower! Bye!

Hey ladies,

Mim - so glad Josh is feeling better

Cat - yes, I do the shopping list/purse swap thingy too!

Bossoflatch - so glad you popped in to keep us updated on Tayla. :hugs:

Tabby and Korah - have my :fingerscrossed: for you both this month.

Strawb short - Hope you are feeling well and getting time to put your feet up after the big move.

Liviesmum - I have no idea how you sleep with Bridget - all those arms and legs and feet ending up in your face somehow AND you have a bump boxing your insides!!! LOL!

Was very warm here so took the kids to an indoor play centre for some fun (well mostly for DS). Was helping DS take his shoes off so popped Kelsey on the carpet just to the side of me. Out of nowhere this kid about 5 years old races over and b4 I could react he stops and then screams in Kelseys ear. No just a yell but a blood curdling scream. Poor Kelsey just fell apart. She was shaking and crying and sobbing and couldn't even catch her breath - she was so scared. The mother came over and yelled at the kid and said sorry but it was awful. DS had his hands on his hips saying "Leave my baby alone" - very protective. The whole thing just made me feel really uneasy in the stomach. I hate it when my kids get hurt. Just had to get it off my chest!

Take care. Sorry if I forgot anyone - there was lots to catch up on.

Hi everyone,

I hope josh keeps improving. That would be so scary., Poor little guy.

Tom has been teething and its horrible. He got ba bad cold and was 39 degrees the other night. I was so worried. This has happened with both teeth now. I don't know how we will cope if its like this for all the teeth. Arrgggg....has anyone else had such issues.

Tom loved vegemite too...i did wonder about the salt, but its not much and he doesnt get salt in anything else. Its a great source of vitiman B and as he is vego and im vegan i think its important.

Food recipes: I have been steaming veggies such as sweet potato and broccolli and freezing each one individually then making like a vege mash and adding some rice or what ever. I think you can freeze pretty much anything. There are some good recipes on the net, and robin barker has a good recipe book too.

Sorry for lack of individual responses, i havent been active here, but im hoping to be!

Acacia: Katies teething doesnt involve a temp BUT she has the worst poos I have ever seen and they burn her bum SO bad every time! She screams and cries when I have to clean it it hurts so much.
Just keep up the panadol/nurofen to keep the temp down will help.

Flicka: what a horrid thing for that boy to do!
Poor Kelsey, that would scare the bejebus out of anyone. :hugs:

liviesmum: yep I know the block walker thing your talking about, both my boys learnt to walk with that . I was going to get Katie one but Mil has 2 walker thingys for xmas and birthday and we have blocks here already so wont need this time, but yep they are great for that.

strawberry: Hope your having fun at your friends and maybe getting some relaxing time.

Us: Katie is miss chatter box again after a few quiet days, lots of Mum mums again :yelclap:
plus lots I dont understand, shes getting quite frustrated as she seems to know what she wants to say but cant get it out obviously and gets a bit grumpy, today for example, grandad had her and hes the ants pants as he always takes her out side to sit, and when he wasnt doing it after she pointed at the door and jabbered away she slapped his head lol
again later she slapped my hand and growled at me when i wouldnt let her touch the spider web!

Oh and DS1 has fully passed his license today ( he had to do 24 hr more supervised Ls with written mileage etc so hes now onto the P's).
So has just picked up ds2 to go for a drive. Oh how time passes so fast!!! Soon ds2 will be there

My reality check after watching them drive away:
Enjoy every minute because its years later before you know it and youll be left wondering where the time went and how quickly your babies grow up :(

Boss, my heart goes out to you and your family. Makes my problems insignificant by comparison.

Tabby, congrats to DS1 for his newfound freedom.

Strawberry, glad you have arrived in Perth safe-n-sound.

Acacia, we love the Robin Barker cookbook.

Liviesmum, hope the hayfever is improving. For me not being able to take meds for stuff like that is the worst part of being PG. I can put up with wee stops, lack of sleep, getting enormous etc but a runny nose and itchy eyes does my head in.

Flicka, if a child of mine ever did that to another child we would have left straight away - I wonder how many other little ones that brute has terrorised. :hugs: to Kelsey.

Korah, hope Macy is better after the gastro and good luck TTC this month.

DFB, Clea is so clever.

Us, M is for Menace. Quite often I go crook on DS1 for making M cry but we have discovered M is usually the instigator. He bullies his big brother by deliberately getting in his way and grabbing his fave toys. He loves playing dodgems in our courtyard with his walker pitted against DS1's car. M is now commando crawling quite well, this morning sucked a spring doorstopper out of the skirting, tried to eat a 5c piece that had literally just been dropped and manages to open kitchen drawers if he beats me to the kitchen in his walker! I don't remember DS1 being into everything this early. I love him to bits though and he certainly knows how to use his big blue eyes to his advantage.

LOL Sammy, had to giggle at adorable Michaels antics. I think Katies going to be a bit of a hand ful too by the way she bullied poor old granddad this morning. At that age where they discover their power
thanks for the :D I needed that, The boys are still out...feeling rather sad at the prospect of both being gone in the next few years. DS1 gone already and DS2 growing up ever so fast and will be too (hes 16)

oh and Katies discovered she can throw things and I mean THROW!

Sammy - Oh brother - talk about opening drawers here too. While I am in the shower Kelsey is always into DH's undies drawer or the bathroom drawers. Keeps shutting her fingers in them too (not hard) so hopefully will learn her lesson!! Same here with the crying while playing with DS. Sometimes he just gives her a kiss or a cuddle and she does her block as though he has hurt her!!! She also pulls his hair alot and often hits him in the face (uncontrollable arms) but he takes it very well and just says "no hitting Kelsey". He is so sweet to her really.

Tabby - yay for DS and his licence....a bit of freedom for mum at last???...combined with a bit of sadness at their independence...:hugs: .

Gosh I had the worst evening with the kids last night and felt like the worst mum ever. Both were whinging and tired over dinner (DH at work) and then when I finally got to eat my soup 2 flies had landed and were swimming in it....was so annoyed felt like I was going to have a melt down (over nothing really I know) but ended up grumbling at both the kids. DS started crying (saying I want my daddy) and Kelsey went out in sympathy. The I spilt the soup over the table. Felt so annoyed at myself....I hate being angry at the kids and it wasn;t their fault. Had a terrible headache to top it off too!! Feel like the worst mum ever sometimes...hope I'm not alone  . Thank goodness today is a fresh day. thanks for listening to my whinge.

Acacia - Hope the teething troubles are over soon. Poor Tom.

take care xxx

Hi everyone

Well we are all good. Matthew is into everything and i think he will be the big bully in our household. He loves crawling up to Luke and pulling his hair then laughing as Luke screams. Matt is now saying Mum mum, Dad dad, bub bub and nan nan. Dad dad would have to be the favourite though. He has also been doing lots of new facial expressions that just crack us up. One of his new ones looks like this  .

Matt has come quite the water baby. He absolutely loves his swimming lessons. He is like a little frog in the water with legs and arms all going at once. He loves to sit up on the edge and fall in.

Well after all that looking at houses 'for fun' the inevitable has happened and we made an offer last night that has been accepted so will be moving house before xmas. Lovely old queenslander about 2/3 renovated. Nothing wrong with the Defence house we are in but just nice to live in your own house and we are going to be 700m from the beach. Now we just have to sell our Perth house asap!

Flicka, :hugs: for Kelsey's experience at the playcentre (hmmm...same one I've taken Cameron too I wonder?). I'm pretty easygoing with other kids being around Cameron but such a deliberate act towards one still so little would have me fuming.

Luke&MattsMum, Cameron has been doing new facial expressions too. He did one today that looked so odd while he was watching the fish in our aquarium . Don't even know how to explain it but he braced his whole face rigid with eyes bugging out and mouth stretched wide. Could not stop laughing.

cat ... congrats on the house

tabby ... congrats on having a ds who can drive himself - scary, but good :)

flicka ... you obviously had a very bad night. Don't worry about getting upset, I'd be worried if that didn't get you upset! Did you have a better day yesterday?

bossoflatch ... thanks for checking in with us. Big :hugs: to you, Tayla and your whole family. You are doing a great job. Having such a sick child is hard work on everyone. I hope the stress reduces now that you at least have some diagnoses.

Us ... I wish I could say things are better, but they're not. It seems that as soon as the sun goes down, Josh turns from a giggly, happy, playful baby, into a baby that wakes frequently, obviously with ear pain (he just lies in my arms holding his ear) and of course, he's now got another virus complete with a nasty cough. So, if he's not waking up with ear pain, he wakes up every time he coughs. I'm glad that his room is next to ours cause I have to turn off the monitor or else I hear coughs all night. At least he is mostly happy during the day, but I'm getting pretty exhausted from little overnight sleep. By 6am I'd only had 4 hours sleep, despite lying down at 10pm. Thankfully, dh took over at that point and let me go back to sleep. Unfortunately dh is back at work today after having most of the last month off. It would be ok if I could put my life on hold, but with a house that is still filled with plenty of clutter, and catering for 100 still to be arranged, my life cannot go on hold :( ... not this week anyway.

Mim: Poor Josh and poor you too! Sure hope things get better real soon :hugs:

Cat: A lovely xmas pressy with the new home to look forward to, :fingerscrossed: your Perth home sells quickly, what suburb is it in?

Lukeandmattsmum: lovely pics and the water antics sound adorable! Cant wait to get Katie to the pool. Its a very lovely pool here but a bit pricey, well worth it though so just waiting on a few extra $ as I need a cossie as well! Havnt swam in years!

Flicka: Hope your feeling way better today and alls forgotten, as am sure they have :hugs:

Us: My whine is quite small in compariosion to poor Mim and josh but we were up at 4am
She was wide awake though grizzly and wouldnt re-settle, finally at almost 6 she nodded off after some nurofen and a cuddly, only lasted for half hr though, definitely her teeth, she keeps munching on her gums, so much so she keeps biting her fingers accidentally.
Shes quite whingy and clingy which is usually the way she goes when teeth hurting.
Just tried to put her down again at only 825, not sure how will go, :fingerscrossed:.

Just a quick post. Haven't been on for a while due to packing and moving. Will read up on things when i have time and when i've had some sleep. Today we finally reached Perth.

I know I'm late, but welcome to Perth. Can't wait to meet you.

Just a quick one, almost got the bags packed for Friday. One way or another it will get done and we'll get on the plane.

Still having crappy nights with TJ. Last night she only woke twice, but still more than I'd like.

I may or may not be able to find time to come and chat over the next two weeks, so will wish everyone well now. Perthies, please start naming the food you'd like to bring to the :xmas: party. Will get serious about it when I return.

Had better go, work is calling,

Hey guys, how you doin today? Another day in the the life of a mother, it is amazing that this job is forever!

Tabby- :yelclap: yeah for DS1 getting his drivers permit! Wow- time does fly, and I bet it feels surreal when driving tests are on the cards. Hope Katie gets those teeth through soon.

MIM- Hope Josh gets better before his big weekend, for his sake and yours, with all that catering!

Flicka- What a little sh!t of a kid screaming like that in Kelsey's ear. My nephew is a bit like that, kept doing to DD1 and I got sick of it so I rarely see him anymore (and he is 8): but some random terrorising your child... well thats just wicked. And the sleep thing, yeah.... getting a bit beyond a joke now, something needs to change. I am so tired I have not the energy to persist with her in her own bed at 2am. If the pg was not happening would be easier, but it is and I just need to sleep (as best I can).

Lukeandmattsmum- cute pics, will have to get some on of Bridget. She is saying the exact same words too.

SammyG- Funny about the little bully, they are so cute and go unnoticed- it is hard to believe they are behind alot of the problems! Bridget is the same and she knows that pulling DD1's hair drives her wild! I do correct her but cant help but chuckle.

Acacia- hope Tom gets his teeth through soon. We have a very moody little girl who goes off her food when a tooth is coming through- temps arent usually too bad.

Hope I have not missed anyone- hey there, and hope you are all well if I have.

mouse- where are you off to? Big plane ride- i must have missed a post some time back.

Us- not too bad. Worked the last two days and must say i have enjoyed my break from Bridget. That probably sounds so bad but she is really clingy. I cant get her to go to sleep, Dh has to do that before he goes to work otherwise she is up all day. She follows me around the house all day so cant get my daily chores done (i sound like cinderella!). She was great for the first few months- sleeping the night through, content on her own- something has happened along the way to get to this point? I just feel too tired most of the time to really deal with the situation- I know I am creating a rod for my own back. Any ideas. She is so lovely, cute little personality, I need to whip her back into line:laughing: ha ha!

Anyways thats me for the day- Better go check facebook- Charis is right, it is totally addictive!

Hiya

Thanks gals I had a much better day today - the kids were fantastic and fun to be around.

Mim - Oh poor you and Josh. It must be really tough on you at the moment. I hope his ear hasn't gotten any worse. Do the antibiotics seem to have helped at all? As for your party coming up and the need to clean - I say bugger 'em. If they are your friends and family they will know and understand that Josh hasn't been well. Can your mum help out a bit? :hugs:

Tabby - 4am - YAWN - I thought my 5am starts were bad!!!

liviesmum - sorry no magic words of wisdom to fix the sleeping thing. It is tough work being preg with a bubby so I take my hat off to you. You are obviously doing a great job and yes, sometimes you just have to do whatever you can to get through the day and if that means co-sleeping then so be it. Could your DH take a few days of soon and do the hard work for you? You could get him to make her go back to bed. Sometimes when we decide to do a huge change with the kids we do it when DH is on days off to help me out.
As for work being a break from the kids - I second that. Creating a rod for your own back with Bridget??? Nah - I doubt it. Things will probably all fall into place soon. You might have one of those "nesting" hormone bursts and just sort it all out b4 your new little girl arrives. :hugs: .
Cat - yay for the house purchase!!:smiliedance: .

I should go and do something more constructive.....or maybe I will just look at ebay (hee hee).

I've bought tupperware on ebay too ... haven't used it and the purchase was 2 years ago, but it was a bargain!

We finally had a better night.:smiliedance: Josh slept from 9pm til 2am, then from 2:30am til 6:30am and he's asleep again now, only 45 minutes later (he didn't want to play). I knew he had to get better soon! I feel much better after a few decent blocks of sleep. Mum has been helping - she took him all day Monday and she's picking him up this morning for 3 - 4 hours, then coming back here for another couple of hours. Dh worked til midnight last night on the rumpus room and it looks fantastic! He's also probably taking tomorrow off work and we've got a friend coming to do the actual cleaning. Our guests will understand if the house isn't perfect, but the rumpus room is huge, but we could only walk single file through the middle of papers and boxes and all sorts of junk a week ago. Now, that's all gone and it's a rumpus room for the first time in over 12 months! Our dining table is still piled high with all sorts of things and the couch is covered with clothes/linen that needs to go away, but neither of those things will take very long.

Anyway, I have to do a bit of running around this morning, so I should get started on the things I need to do! I hope you all have a great day!

Mim, fantastic news that Josh slept better. And there's nothing like guests to get a house into shape, sounds like you guys have got a lot done!

I have to scrub my kitchen gate and put it back up today. M has a nasty habit of getting into the kitchen to lick the bin (I do clean it but it's still gross) DS1 is going to find this very frustrating!

tabby hope those toothy pegs come through soon. Poor little thing.

us all is well. Clea is BFing like she is 3 months old and is very clingy, must be the age. she was so cute at playgroup she went from being the little bully 2 weeks ago to standing there holding my leg for about 5 minutes before she slowly walked off to play.

We bathed her last night in a square bucket thing because it is so cold here in the bathroom. she loved it so I think we will do it every night! here are some pics:

Dont feel too daggy Sammy-I use to sell tupperware for some extra cash when DD1 was born ! LOL!

Thanks Flicka for your kind words of wisdom. I think your right, when Dh is off next and I am off maybe we should persist and see what we can do to change the sleeping situation!

Mim- Sounds like Josh is on the mend, well hopefully he is and that sleep seems to be a positive.

Going to a friends palce for lunch today. She had a baby 2 months ago and I have not seen them since the hospital, so very exciting.

Talking hospitals, better ring today to book in for my Book In! Was meant to do that weeks ago. I have held off as we are getting a new hospital. It is suppose to be ready and running sometime in December, so I thought it would be better to book in when the new hospital opens so I know where to go to have this baby, LOL!

Anyway, hope you all have a good day, chat soon!

Hi everyone

Havent been on much lately. Been on facebook... its very addictive lol. Its good to find old friends & otehr family members which i havent seen for ages.
Anyway... things have been pretty good. Busy but we are all quite well which is good. Sierra still has a lot of congestion but is a lot better than she was.
Dh has had a few days off here & there, so thats been good too.
Not much else to report. Havent read back on the last few days posts yet so will do that soon (if i dont get stuck on facebook again) & come back & do personals.

take care.

tiredmummy: glad sierra is on the mend!

liviesmum:How exciting, a brand new hospital. Have fun at your friends for lunch and with the new baby.

DFB: ah what beautiful photos, and what a great idea! Might have to get one for summer for indoor water play hehe. No trees out the back for a little pool so will need get a gazebo thingy as well but a great idea until I can afford other.

Sammy: lol bin licking! Arent they terrible, Katie has a habit of opening her mouth for the dog to kiss! Hes only a pup so still trying to teach him not to but she isnt helping lol. they are so gross sometimes. argh I shudder just thinking about it.

Mim: Sounds like youve got heaps done! yay for the rompus room being done.
Awesome to hear Josh slept better, hopefully hes on the mend and more to come :hugs:

Hi to everyone else, have got to run, Katies down for a nap and shes VERY clingy, I dont think its actually teeth now, shes very sweaty so temp is up, even the sun was making her cry as it hurt her eyes (headache maybe?) and shes got a niggly cough, nothing bad, seems be like a tickly throat. :fingerscrossed: it doesnt get worse.

TTC: Am going to test over the weekend, so start crossing those fingers/toes etc. (No leg crossing needed from those who are also ttc lol )
My boobs are getting sorer by the day and mild cramps, way to early for AF signs, looking good!
Tested at 8dpo with Katie cos of the boobs, might have to test tomorrow but wont be FMU by time I get them, but then again Katies was 8dpo and not fmu, just was reeally faint

tabby ... katie sounds like she needs to see a doctor asap. A temp and not liking light can be a sign of meningitis. It's probably just a virus, but she should be looked at ASAP.

Thanks for all your comments on Josh. He's just got back from his morning with mum and he's chattering away in the lounge room at the moment ... ma, ba, dad, ga, etc, etc :) I had a good morning of running errands and mum will be back in an hour to watch him again while I do a few more things. It's amazing what a difference a day makes :)

Better go ... I hope katie's ok

Tabby, Hope Katie has improved and I have everything crossed for you! Also just remembered a friend got a fantastic shade tent that folds up to the size of a port-a-cot at Bunnings for $79, sounds perfect for putting a little wading pool or sandpit under in Summer!

Just a quickie let yous know shes fine, so not to worry. Nurofen before the sleep has kicked the temp and what am sure was a headache ( why the sunlight hurt her eyes). Shes been outside with me and full of beans lol.

Back later when she naps again this arvo.

mouse- where are you off to? Big plane ride- i must have missed a post some time back.
We're off to North Arm Cove (NSW Lakes Area). Not looking forward to attempting to restrain TJ for 4.5 hours to Brissie the 1.5 hours to Newcastle.
Tabby...good to hear Katie is looking/feeling better.
DFB...great pics of C
:laughing:LOL at licking the bin and kissing the dog. I haven't caught TJ doing anything like that yet, but that's not to say she hasn't done it:rolleyes: .

I good night with TJ last night. She woke at 3.30 hungry then at 6.45. She started crawling (very slowly) up on her hands and knees this morning. Still hasn't moved from crawling to sitting by herself yet, but I guess that might happen once she's off her tummy.

Mouse- How cool you are coming over to my side of the country:smiliedance: . Seems like everyone here lives on the west side, lol!

Tabby- Hope Katie is ok, sick bubs are quite demanding! Is that the understatement of the year or what? And :fingerscrossed: for you testing this w/e hope it works for you this time.

Tiredmummy- yes bit of a facebook addict aswell, need to settle down a bit.

Did not get round to booking into hospital today. I only remembered this afternoon, when I was busy with something and forgot again until now! I have a memory like a seive atm!

I am really tired. I have been up late the past 2 nights chatting on msn to a friend, I wont go there tonight, need some rest.

Mouse: If dont see you before, have a happy holiday xxx Hope the plane trip goes well for TJ
YAY for the up on fours crawl! clever gal

liviesmum: Lucky this seem to have been short lived, whatever it was!! Shes so full of beans and even ate dinner with gusto ( unlike last night ).
More weird is how they can go from perfectly healthy to unwell and back again, all in a blink of an eye, never knowing what the issue was in the first place! lol
Get some rest young lady!!!! No msn for you tonight! :hugs:

The other week I said that I thought she was saying "wats that (whats that)?" and pleased and proud to say YES it was!!
Everything gets a point and either wats that or just "that" most commonly the "that" today.
It feels terribly like the "but why" stage already !!! LOL

Katie had another nap this arvo that was also 2 hrs, this coincided with feeling better, amazing what a good sleep can do.

Tabby yay for Katie's talking. Clea still says bubba all the time and mumma when she cries, but I think she uses all her energy on physical things and it seems she will never talk!

I had an exhausting day. DH decided to go on a bender last night, he came home very drunk and I made him sleep on the lounge. This was after 3 nights of Clea waking every few hours. Well I best get to bed!

Thanks for the nice words guys. Tom has settled right down. He is off with his dad for 2 nights tonight..it will be the longest we have been apart! Im doing a gig! I intend to get nicely toasted and sleep most of saturday! Ha.

Im glad Josh is sleeping better too....i hope he keeps it up!

Yeah, I'm another facebook addict too. It's really sad. :o

Josh went 8 1/2 hours between feeds last night! :smiliedance: Of course, that wasn't 8 1/2 hours of sleep, it included being awake/semi asleep in my arms from 1 - 2am, but he didn't feed til 4:30am so I got a bit more sleep which is great. Of course, going 8 1/2 hours between feeds overnight became VERY uncomfortable and I woke up drenched in sweat, with oodles of milk. So much milk that my little rascal drank it all, then wouldn't go back to sleep til 6am. I think he just had a really full tummy. I did turn the lights on and let him play in the end, but in the 10 minutes that he was on the floor he sat in exactly the same spot and calmly played with 1 toy. Very unusual for my active bubba. He's been great today since he really woke properly and he's currently down for his 2nd nap. He actually happily played in his playpen for nearly an hour at lunchtime ... he usually goes to the edge, climbs up and cries til I come and get him.

Numbers for Sunday are probably somewhere in the 40 - 50 range, so thankfully, we're not catering for 100 anymore :). AND, we're nearly ready.

acacia ... I hope you have a good weekend of relaxation

dragonflyblu ... i hope your dh doesn't do that again in a hurry!

tabby ... are you sure katie is only 10 months old and not nearly 2? She's putting 2 words together? Eik!

liviesmum ... did you book into hospital today?

mouse ... the sitting thing will happen very soon, if it hasn't happened in the last 24 hours. That plane trip doesn't sound like much fun. We took a clip on ladybug toy with us when we went on the plane. Clip on toys (big clips to go on seat belts, etc) are fantastic, cause they can't be dropped/thrown (or not so easily anyway). I couldn't believe that the woman behind us had bought nothing (and I mean nothing) with her for her 2 year old son to do during the 2 hour flight. She had a young baby as well and was travelling on her own. I highly recommend bringing a few toys and books for entertainment purposes.

Hey girls

Tabby - sorry to hear Katie wasn't well but glad she is better now

Acacia - enjoy your 'me' time and have a sleep in for me please!!!

DFB - Grrr men!!! Can you talk to DH about it??? (I read your other thread). I hope you don't mind me saying but you have made a huge compromise for him by moving o/s. Perhaps he could compromise on the drinks???

Oh boy, just spent 10 minutes chasing the puppy after he stole my knitting - looks like I'll have to undo it and start over :hair: .

Kelsey woke at 4.30am this morning and wouldn't go back to sleep. These early starts are getting earlier for me and are so tiring. It seems such a long way to the end of the day when you get up at 4.30!!!

I'm off to have a cuppa and put my feet up (and rectify my knitting disaster)

Hey on another note - anyone on here use mineral foundation??? I've been thinking of getting some and would love a reccomendation??????

Tabby - Great about Katie talking so well. So cute. Sierra has started saying 'tada' when waving bye lol... very cute. Sometimes she will just wave and say it even if we arent going anywhere.

Mim - Great thats Josh gave you a break between feeds, but not so great that you didnt get much sleep. Hope things improve with that soon.

Sierra has been really good, sleeping & eating really well. She is into everything & wants to go everywhere so its been busy running around after her & keep having to check where she is, sometime i lose her & she'll be under DD1 or 2's bed lol.
DD1 had another transition session @ school today, so that was good but busy cos i had to organise DH to come home for 2 hrs. But ohwell... all worked out in the end.

Happy weekends all.

Mim: I know! Im totally in awe at her two words already! But I sort of knew she would be a right chatter box, she has a very serious face a lot of time, you can almost see the brain ticking over..Lots of interest on what things are and what they do and she listens intently while you explain
I spent days in denial at her "whats that?", but shes still doing it, so no denying it anymore, she truly is going to be a little miss chatterbox.
Sounds like Josh is well and truly on the mend. Also sounds like hes a much happier fellow?
So the drum never busted and that abscess just clear up?

DFB: You could be right...Katies not much for moving, its more about knowing things than getting about, so maybe they do focus more that way. I did however notice her speed this morning with the commando crawl, quite funny to watch.
:banghead: with your DH! Hope things improve there for you and you get some much needed help/rest xx

Acacia: Not feeling much at all really..still early days though.

Flicka: LOL @ puppy, what sort is he? Hope you managed to save your knitting.

tired*mummy: yep we get the wave and tata at anytime as well, usually as soon as I pick her up, probably more a hint to go outside though lol.
Nice to hear alls well, sleeps / eating / mischief etc lol

Katie's only had a small nap this morning as we were out shopping so on a drive to get fuel she flaked it and now asleep cot, hopefully a big one.

Happy Friday all and thanks for the "good lucks". will let yous know how the test goes over the weekend xx

Well besides trawling through Facebook all day I have had an ok day except DS1 decided to crack the sh!ts every 15 mins or so. He had roller coaster mood swings all day, hope he wakes up on the right side of the bed tomorrow!

M was an angel all day and seemed to find his Big Brother's antics hilarious (as long as he doesn't imitate him) M loves rocking on all fours in his cot. He gets quite a bounce action going and laughs the whole time. He's not doing it nearly as much on the carpet yet.

Happy weekends to all, the outlaws are taking the boys tomorrow afternoon so I can go to a girlfriends 'Total Learning' Book Look. DH still gets to play basketball this way too!

Evening everyone,

Firstly goodluck Tabby with the testing. I'll have everything uncrossed for you hehe and well done Katie on the words!! I think the closest Macy gets is an 'awwwwwww' whenever we pat the cat

Macy still has gastro, Im sooo over poop, had to bath her in the change rooms at the shops today, good thing I took 2 changes of clothes with me for a half hour trip!!

Flicka - my beauty lady has used the
'Ultraceuticals' brand mineral stuff on me a few times and it looks and feels great. Its really good for sensitive skin aswell as I have had it on straight after waxing, facials etc with no problems at all. Might be a bit on the pricey side though...

Anyways, time to go get some beauty sleep, busy day tomorrow

Have a great weekend everyone

Hi there ladies:wave:

Tabby-:fingerscrossed: for your testing this w/e. And yay on Katies words. Just this week Bridget has started waving (finally), and she has been pointing for about 2 weeks but no words to go along with them so I am trying to encourage a 'BYE' or a 'WHATS THAT'- I guess she will pick it up in time.

Flicka- Funny about the puppy but must ask- why are you knitting- dont you live in the top region of Australia in the HEAT- LOL!

MIM1- only remembered the hospital booking when reading your post- will write a big reminder and stick it on the fridge so I do it monday.

Facebook- expect a request ladies! I am a bit partial to the phenomenon myself!

BREAKTHROUGH- Bridget slept through last night in her own bed- in actual fact dh and I woke her at 8am this morning as she was still sleeping and I felt like I missed her. Dont know how this all happened, will try again, although the girls are staying at mums tonight as we are going to a wedding today. So it will need to be continued Sunday night!

Anyways, hope you all have a good w/e, will talk soon.

Liviesmum, have a lovely time at the wedding!

I'm feeling a bit lost, DH took DS1 with him this morning at 7:30am, M is in bed and I don't know what to do with myself - I refuse to do housework this morning. I'm sure I'll fill the time somehow.

I need friends on Facebook ladies - feeling a bit lonely in there :crying: Here's my link http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=680994496

Hi ladies

So much going on with sick bubbas, talking bubbas and naughty bubbas (and puppies and DHs!).

Been tied up this week with the excitement of the new house as well as trying to catch up on my work. I've been slacking off so badly and really don't want my bosses to rethink the work from home arrangement I have going with them. (BTW Tabby, the Perth house we are selling is in Cloverdale. Neat little 3brm 50's style with lovely garden. A bit sad to let it go but made easier by the fact we haven't lived in it for 4 years now. So, any Perthies interested?!)

As for facebook, I did join just so I could actually accept when people wanted to add me as a friend. Even so, I still only have 6 friends. I do think it's good but I can't really be bothered with all the novelty stuff on it. I want to see my friends pics and know what they've been up to but find it hard to get excited over being sent a virtual 'drink'. I'm the same with emails. Great for keeping in touch but I rarely forward on joke emails/chain emails etc.

Flicka, I wonder if your pup is related at all to a couple of Jack's some relos in Canberra have. It was their dogs who inspired us to get ours. We love him to bits even though he does have selective hearing as soon as other dogs/people are about.

Best wishes for the testing Tabby :fingerscrossed: . Starting to think our plan for a small gap won't eventuate. Has anyone else not had AF back yet??

May be MIA again next week. Lots more work to do plus on Monday Cameron has follow up day surgery to remove the stent that was inserted during his kidney op 3 months ago. Then after another 3 days he will FINALLY be able to stop taking antibiotics. Actually it's become such a part of his breakfast/dinner routine I'm wondering if he'll miss it!

Hope everyone has a great weekend,

super quick post.

josh is doing better - slept quite well last night only waking once for a feed then back to sleep within 20 minutes. So, a great night really. today he's been starving and tired - both signs that he's getting better. he's actually in bed now, hopefully for the night. since daylight savings he's gone back to sleeping for the night at 9pm instead of 7pm ... grrr!

josh's dedication is tomorrow, so he chose today to start hitting his head! yep, he has two little lumps and bruises on his forehead! thankfully they are small and just under his hair ... poor baby fell 3 times in the bath tonight despite me being just there ... i think he was overtired ... or maybe he was just being over adventerous.

better go keep getting ready (I snuck on while dh is out getting dinner).

Mim, Happy Dedication Day for tomorrow!

Cat, I'm not into everything on Facebook yet but the movie quiz's and scrabulous are fun although quite time wasters too!

Sammy: How wonderful! what a clever fellow!

Mim: All the best for tomorrow and hope everything goes to plan and a lovely day for all.
Glad Josh is feeling way better, just in time for what am sure will be lots of cuddles and attention.

Cat: :hugs: for Monday.

Acacia: What a bummer no gig. Sorry to hear you couldnt go. :hugs:

liviesmum: I think the key is to say it over and over and over AND over! The two things that i say are/were "car" ( out front for hrs watching cars go by and saying every time "car") and "whats that" day in and day out so a bit expected, bit like parrots? lol
I didnt even realise I said whats that all the time till Mum pointed it out. Ill say whats that when she looks and points, then explain what it is.
Comes out as "was sat"

Korah: Thanks for the good luck , and everyone else! I think Im about 8 or 9 dpo, so if its neg I wont be dispointed just yet, very early AND the tests I got were not early ones, they had run out! So if neg Ill do again later in the week.

Katie has been awake ALL day!
Lunch at sizzlers for dp's brothers birthday at 11ish, home at 2 ( no morning nap ) and I tried 3 times to get her nap, no luck! Early dinner /bath /bed here 530 into cot and out like a light.
Might have been all the yummy food she tried.
Tried beetroot for the 1st time and loved it, a bit of soft serve with chocky sauce might have been the culprit lol.

Makes you wonder how they can go all day without a nap, 730-530! Shes wasnt that grumpy either.

tabby - :fingerscrossed: for you. (oh and the puppy is a jack russell)

Liviesmum - I know I am crazy knitting when I live in the tropics but we still wear jumpers in winter (especially at night). I just really love it and find it relaxing. Hope you have a great time at the wedding and so glad to hear bridget slept in her own bed (and slept in too!!)

Sammy - :smiliedance: for the crawling and talking! Hope you enjoyed some time to yourself this morning.

Mim - Hope tomorrow goes really well.

Cat - What suburb is the new house in? (can PM if don't want to post). Where did your Jack come from??? Our new fellow is another broken coat - very cute called "Tramp". He is actually a distant relative of our 9 year old jack. Tramp is a "Lemosa" dog (near Canberra). As for AF being MIA - you might just ov and never get AF back first.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend

Sierra got a little overtired after that when we went & did the grocery shopping but she was still very good, only a couple of sooks here & there. She had a 3 hr sleep in the arvo so that was good. DFB: Hope the thrush clears quickly for Clea, not nice at all but something a lot of babies will get at some time or another. :hugs:
DS2 had it when only about 2-3 months! and Im quite meticulous sterilizing etc at that age.

Speaking of such, I read another thread about boiling the water and many said they stopped anywhere from 3 months to 8 months.....Shouldnt we do it till at least 12 months?? Or if your water is okay then its safe to not have to?
regardless of "recommended" I usually and will until shes on cows milk etc. I thought that was how it was supposed to be anyhow.

Tiredmummy: thanks for the good luck..I decided to wait till about Tues/wed as dont want to be disappointed by testing too early and thats closer to AF due date. Havnt got a sensitive enough test anyway. Will let yous know though xxx

After a rough start to the night after Katie's big day, she woke 3 times and hard to settle, poor love was so over tired, so I have learnt: a lunch outing is not a good idea if she wont have a nap before we go.
So hard to get out to things like that without the after affects.

Hiya guys, hows things this fine Sunday?

The wedding was lovely yesterday although 4 people from our table did not show so dh doubled up on all the courses! He was pretty full by the time we left, he practically rolled out- lol!

Cute video of Katie, Tabby- Is there suppose to be sound as I could not get that to work, but very skilled with that corn cob!

DFB- poor Clea, hope the thrush clears up for her soon. Do you have to be careful with the b/f and re-infecting?

MIM and Josh- happy dedication day, and happy catering, hope the weather is good for you.

Good to meet you all on Facebook, fellow facebookers- yes it is a bit of a time waster, but alot of fun in the process!

Bridget actually slept again in her cot last night. We ended up picking her up from mum's after the wedding as she was still awake when I rang at 9:30pm. It was once again dh who worked his magic:wizard: , I am too soft. She is grizzling now in her cot, has not had a sleep today and I will probably go get her when I have finished this post.

I had a friend drop over yesterday before we went back for the reception, she has a 1 year old (just), and she is always comparing the abilities of her bub with Bridgets. Bridget is 3 months younger, but she goes on as if Bridget is slow or something- really annoying- what are some good comebacks for this problem? I know I should probably ignore it all, but I have done that, it is now time for some comments to be passed her way!!:devil6: Is this nasty?

better go, bridget is really getting worked up now!

Hi

Tabby - cute vid!!!! She is a clever girl! My CHN said you can stop boiling at 6 months. I haven't boiled water for Kelsey for ages.

Liviesmum - I have the same 'comparing' prob with a friend. My 2 and her 2 kids are all very close together with Kelsey and her youngest only 2 weeks apart. Whenever she says something I just go "meh, she'll do it eventually" and then go on to be amazed (rolling my eyes with sarcasm) by her son's abilities. "Oh wow you are right he is really good at crawling and so fast. Yes Kelsey is a bit slower but she compensates by reading Jane Austen each night b4 bedtime".....

DFB - DS had oral thrush at about 20 months - just make sure you keep giving the gel as long as possible. I stopped too soon and it came back.....also make sure her dinner is quite cool as DS used to say it was too hot and hurt his mouth (as did vegemite and the like).

Hope you have a great Sunday

nope, its only off my digital camera. but you can see her mouth it. Would love a proper video camera, can imagine how much use, it would go everywhere with me.

Have just come home from local fair, didnt go to that but had a skate/bike comp on and ds1 was taking pics, man was it HOT! 38 and I almost melted, so not used to it. glad to be home.

wish I could help you with some comebacks, will try to think of some, shame your friend is doing that, 3 months a LOT can happen and change, some huge milestones are made.

LOL @ your DH and his good feed
Least it didnt go to waste :D

Flicka: Thanks for that info, I figure there probably isnt a need here really, the water is awesome here in Perth, very drinkable right from the tap etc. AM sure its more recommend where waters a bit iffy.

As Katie is such a great veg and fruit eater am introducing cows milk at 3/4 to 1/4 cows this week and next week 1/2 1/2 and so on, so by 11n half months will be full cows milk. only 2 weeks sooner than recommended anyhow. Her iron intake is great so that few weeks shouldnt matter...
shes almost 11 months.

liviesmum yes we have to be careful about reinfecting. I am putting the gel on my boobs but she is feeding so much now that i am always washing it off. I read that it was supposed to turn them off BFing but of course Clea just feeds more, she also wants to sleep with boob ib her mouth all night!

flicka thanks for the advice, I was going to stop it tomorrow so i will keep going a few more days. It seems to be getting better so I dont think i will take her to the docs. Not too keen on taking her out in the snow if she is not well. (yay it started snowing again here 2 days ago :snow: )

Okay better go Clea is getting cranky in her chair and throwing everything on the floor. yum soggy cheese toast.

OMG DFB - SNOW!!! How lovely.....bet you have to get Clea really rugged up to go out. maybe a white :xmastree: christmas for you???

I had the best arvo with the kids. We went for a really long walk with the dogs and then stopped at the park. Home to eat Sammy's famous baked beans, cheese and potato mash. Sammy my kids love it - it is a fav in our house now so thanks!!

Tabby keep us posted when you test....

On the subject of cows milk (Tabby mentioned it) am I right in saying that we can start putting cows milk on cereal at 10 months????

take care

Hi Everyone,

Mim1 – I hope Josh’s day went well.

Charis – I think I went past you in the whitfords city shopping centre on Friday afternoon. Your partner was holding Hunter and I said to hubby “that bub looks familiar”. So sorry if it was you, I was the short S^#t  with 2 girls dragging behind me lol, I was walking out the woolies exit of the shopping centre. I was so exhausted and wanted to get back to the motel room.

Tabby – Cute video on Katie. I’ve already started Talon on cow’s milk. At the moment he’s having ¾ cows milk to ¼ formula (just have ¼ of a tin left). He’s drinking more milk now then he was when he was on full formula. :fingerscrossed: on the test. I have everything crossed for you.

DBF – I hope the thrush clears up soon. Talon had it at 2 months old. :hugs:

Flicka – I started putting cow’s milk on T’s cereal at 9 months. No probs here.

I can’t remember what else I was going to say, Call it preggie brain.

Us – We finally move into our house tomorrow. Can’t wait. Talon is getting over his cold and so is the rest of the family. Been checking out the shopping centres and they are bigger then what we expected over here.

Anyway better go hubby just made me dinner.

Talk soon.

Matt has been having cows milk on his cereal since about 7 months. I have also just changed him over to cows milk. I know i know he isn't 12 months yet but i just got sick of tipping formula down the sink. I think it has been for the better as he is actually drinking a bit more now. I talked about it with chn and she said as long as he now bad reactions to it it is ok. This may not suit all but it works for us. He also eats heaps now so i think he is getting enough good stuff from all of his solids.

Hi Hi Hi. Been reading up and then disappearing off lately, but had to get on and say to StrawShortcake, that that would explain where H got to on Friday :) :smiliedance: Kidding of course. No not us, but good to know Whitfords is full of cute babies with Talon and your girls there too! YAH for getting the keys. All the best with it!!

Also the v v best for hospital for Cameron, stent removal.

DFB, the cutest avatar and hope Clea's mouth is clearing up v fast.

WOW Mim1 hope all went really well today and great for Josh and all. V special day.

Kelsey is v talented Flicka!!! Good taste in books too. Am sure the other Mum doesn't realise and if she did would be mortified. BUT doesn't excuse it, at all. I missed the JR and the knitting..I will read back sounds like a umm messy story

Hunter keeps trying to hold his tongue with his fingers, yes its hard for adults too!! Oh and like Katie is POINTING I wouldn't want to count how many times a day, about a trillion. But is v v cute.

Michael and the wakeful kicking cot play is just the same here SammyG! Had a 3-4am teddy-fling session Fri night and again 5.30 this morning.. BUT have new regime of not feeding during the night. Night 3 now I think and all going well. Oops must get sippy cup (water) now! He really didn't protest too much. And DFB he was getting a bit too much like a lampre (sp?), little sucking animal over night, so I know the feeling! I'd be so tired he'd be in bed and then during the day was getting to rely on getting milk fed to sleep, not a good pattern, I know. SO YAH now is back to how he was and bed is just for me :)

Arh yes Tabby and all other Perthies, yes today was rather horrid and 39 tomorrow!! We went to a 1st Bday BBQ at the beach, oh YIKES, SO many flies, spec in babies eyes. Ugh. Well will get myself off to bed and wish everyone deep restful sleeps xx

We already have our a/c on low today in preparation for the very hot day today! It's only November - hope this isn't a sign for things to come.

Just read thru the last couple of pages. Any news Tabby? Mim, hoep the dedication was wonderful! Strawberry, hope the moving in goes well :) What fun on a day like this!!!!

You can stop boilign water at 6 months?!?! I wish I had know that! 5 months of forgetting to coil boiled water and having it stuck in the freezer with a starving screaming baby!

I recently heard that sterilizing isn't necessary at all, as long as you wash in super hot soapy water & rinse thoroughly or use the dishwasher.

Flicka, glad the mash is a hit!

Charis, Yay for cutting out night feeds, that must have been exhausting!

With regards to milk/ formula, M has whatever is left from his morning bottle on his cereal plus cows milk so the mix varies everyday. Little bubs tummies can actually cope with cows milk but the nutrients in BM or formula are needed till solids are well established. I can't wait to swap over - much easier and cheaper!

HI everyone,

Sterilizing - To be honest i have never done it... is that bad? lol. I wash them in very hot soapy water or in the dishwasher though & i've never had a problem.

Cows Milk - Havent tried it at all yet. Sierra doesnt have any cereal though, i've tried her on weetbix but she just retches on it. I might start mixing cows milk with her formula though just to get her onto a little of it before 12 months. Sammy... i cant wait either til she can have a bottle of it. Formula is SO expensive.

Cordelia - I wish we had a/c :crying: We are still waiting for our landlord to say yes or no to putting one in. We dont really want to move until we are ready to buy but i cant stand how hot our house gets. Its awful... gets to about 42 degrees on really hot days in summer. Hopefully they will say yes though as DH can get one cheaper & installed for cheaper as he is a rep for an electrical wholesaler. So i have my :fingerscrossed:

Not much on today, just relaxing after the weekend & will try to do a few thing around the house. DD1 has a kinder excursion tomorrow so have to get her organised for that.

Have a great day!

Tabby
12-11-2007, 11:24 AM
Sterilizing has only ever been hot soapy water and hot rinse for us, I will do that until no more bottles though.
Thanks for the info everyone, have just started 3/4 formula to 1/4 cows milk and with just tap water
Have to go the mix as shes not keen cows alone, she wont have a bar of it lol.

Also Flicka: we have been doing the cereal and cows milk for months, perfectly fine if just on cereal at that age

tiredmummy: Hope your landlord caves and lets yous get that aircon! Poor yous, I dont know how we went so long without it, 38 here yesterday and boy was I greatful we had it to come home to.

Cordelia: No news, have decided to wait till a few more days to test to avoid a early negative from testing too early. if you know what i mean, Mid week I might give in lol
Yep aircon on early here too, wasnt it so hot last night!?! I was up at 11pm for a cool shower.

Charis: Grab some roll on aeroguard! A lot milder and okay for baby, fix those horrid flies right up.
roll on hand and then dab onto face etc.

Lukeandmattsmum: good to hear your feedback re: milk change, Have wanted to for some time due to wastage same as you, but procrastinated due to "recommendations". Like you say works well for some so why not.

strawberry; yay for the moving in! Least it will be a bit cooler for you tomorrow :fingerscrossed:

uhoh grumpy bum no sleepies! back later lol

I stopped sterilising bottles (which I used for josh's medication) at 5 1/2 months. It was so much hassle that I decided waiting til 6 months wasn't worth it. Melbourne's water is pretty good and I just used good hot water and soap and he's been fine. I have used boiled water (or sometimes bottled water) to make up his zantac, but he's now been off that for 2 weeks and when I offer him water now (which he's drinking for the first time btw - he likes drinking from a real cup, not a sippy cup or a bottle!) ... I use tap water, water from our water dispenser (neverfail) or boiled water ... whatever I feel like at the time. If we're away in the country though it will be boiled or bottled, not tap water.

I won't be introducing cows milk til after 12 months ... gotta remember to ask the paed when is a good time for josh.

tiredmummy ... what about a portable aircon? We have a hotpoint one and it's great. Dh bought it when he was renting years ago (he was a hotbox of a place) and it does a good job. It won't do a huge room, but it can at least create a cool zone within a big room.

tabby ... any news? I can't believe how well katie eats corn - it's fantastic!

strawberry ... all the best for the move

comparing babies ... I know it's frustrating and it's so hard not to do. I'm happy cause despite my concerns it hasn't been a big issue with josh and his cousins. My niece is 4 months older than him and my nephew is 2 weeks younger. They are all just such different babies and they are all doing different things at different times ... and it doesn't bother me if josh is 'slower' and it doesn't seem to bother the others either.

However, I have a friend with a bub who is a similar age to josh and I'm worried. He's really slow in his development in many ways and doesn't look 'quite right' and I'm seriously worried that there is something wrong with him. I'm praying about how on earth I bring it up in conversation. I've been wondering about it for a while, but yesterday I watched him again and realised that it hasn't been my imagination :(

Josh's dedication went really well. Thanks for all your comments. He was awake and full of beans from 9:30am til 2:30pm when everyone left. He fell asleep during his feed at 2:30pm eventhough my mum and dh were talking a couple of metres away (usually a big no-no if he's feeding). He was an angel and kept everyone entertained. The food went well and we had plenty and I wasn't too stressed, which was also great.

BUT, if I don't get off the computer ASAP I will get stressed cause I have mother's group here in an hour and I need to eat lunch and clean the kitchen a bit before they arrive!

Okay, lets try a nap in the porta cot in the lounge room and see how that goes lol
The last 3 days she hasnt slept well days again, no idea why it can be so easy for weeks then a week of not wanting to.

Mim: Glad the day went so well and lovely Josh going so long and sleeping well after it.
Yes it would be ever so hard to notice something in another baby but compelled to say something, maybe a suggestion of a visit together to chn, suggested as just for yours and Josh's company but that she may as well get a check up while there? Would it be noticeable to the chn?
Have fun with mothers group.

Today I met the lady 2 doors down, with her first baby, a girl at 4 weeks. nawww she was so cute!
Got talking out the front as she was taking her first walk to the shops with baby.
Am hoping we click, would be lovely for some good female company more often and with a baby too.

hmm okay not working the porta cot.
back tonight when shes settled.
happy Monday all

Mim - We have a little air cooler thing that you put ice & water in & its ok, better for a small bedroom. Our living areas are very open plan. Our dining & family room is one big room & then attached to that is our lounge & play/room (supposed to be formal dining) which is another big room so its really hard to cool down just with fans & air coolers. The back of our house is just windows too so the glass heats up & makes everything else hot... very annoying.

Apparently our landlord said he was going to shop around so hopefully that means hes at least thinking about it. DH can get an air con & it installed for half the price & we've told him that. So :fingerscrossed:

Now to just get her to get up on all fours (instead of commando) to make crawling more pleasurable for her.

Rather than respond personally, I will do it by topics- everyone covered then!! (there is a method to my maddness)

Sterilizing- did not realise you could stop before 12 months. I always try to put in the dishwasher otherwise I do boil! Must admit have been lazy over the past week and only washed a few bottles in soapy water (really hot? well sort of warm actually).

Boiled water- another one that I did not realise could be stopped. I make sure the kettle is full and been boiled before bed.

Cows Milk- Again another one I did not know could be done before 12 months. This week Bridget has had it on her breaky as I have run out of yoghurt for the weetbix and not been shopping. She seems to like it ok. So would appear I am totally out of touch with the Do's and Don'ts of raising babies.

Air Cons- Could not live wihtout one. The inlaws bought us one when we had DD1 as we brought her home to a really hot house (another Jan baby). It was 42 degrees outside the house seemed just as warm. The house we are in now has ducted heating and cooling:thumbsup:

Competitive parents- It is annoying and yes tabby 3 months makes a huge difference at this age! I am a nice person so will probably just grin and bare it for a while, Bridget is bound to catch up with this child sooner or later. It is just so rude right now!

Bridget is being naughty!:devil6: Wont eat what I am offering, keeps throwing her biscuit on the floor and just screaming in my ear! Might go and see what else I can offer her right now.

Tabby, M figured out how to sit himself up from commando today too, we were at the beach and I think the sand made it easier - he has done it at home now too!

Liviesmum, grin & bear it for as long as you can, sooner or later Bridget will do something they can't and I hope they are suitably mortified!

For those on Facebook, I have posted a new album from our morning at the beach! I will put a few in the pics thread now too!

Tabby
12-11-2007, 08:44 PM
Sammy, hehe yes the sand sure would have made it easier, Katie was doing it for days but only in the cot or my bed, so the softer surfaces must have been a starter for both by the sounds of it.

liviesmum: isnt it so frustrating now that when they dont like/want something how it gets thrown! Its now Katies way of telling me shes full, the remainder ends up on the floor lol.
Think I need a house dog to clean up lol.

The sitting has made her much happier to crawl this arvo/evening as she knows she can get back up.
Pity she cant stand better, shes determined to stand but no way near ready and topples easily, but its not stopping her trying, so have to have hands at the ready at all times, yet she absolutely loves to stand and is always at her happiest.

I still boil drink stuff, bottle and sippy cup. Not that we use them much. But i do add cold tap water to her camomile tea when I make it.

For those of you who had oral thrush, did bubs get it on the lips? Clea has a small sore on the top lip and today she has one on her chin, well the creased bit between the lips and chin. I figured this is from al the dribbling. she seems okay, the thrush on the gums is clearing up. No temp.Could be a cold sore? What d'you think? I suppose if it is a cold sore i cant do much more than what we are doing.

Cows Milk I am been thinking about this as well. I give Clea yoghurt, have been since she started solids. She eats cheese. The milk thing is so confusing. The info all says that milk is no good because it might decrease irons levels, cause internal bleeding of bowel. All sounds horrible. Would love some good info on miolk for babies if anyone has any. I wanted to start giving her about 100mls a day after christmas. 100mls is about Cleas bottle threshold.

gee i have asked alot this post!:D

Acacia
13-11-2007, 09:17 AM
I think i will go by topic too for my reply!

Sterilization: I still boil everything that will have his milk in it. If i express milk then i boil all the gear, but his sippy cup i just wash, as well as his bowls and spoons. There is no real reason for this except that i figure that anything that will hold stored millk should be sterile. I did hear that after 6 months you could be more relaxed about it.

Dairy: Well Tom has yogurt, although i have read that the culture in yogurt helps to break down the lactose so thats why some lactose intolerant people can handle yogurt. Some of his custard and stuff had milk solids in it, but i mix everything with water.

Here is some info i got off the net....
When should I switch to cow's milk?

URL: www.babycenter.com.au/baby/startingsolids/cowsmilkexpert/

Fiona Wilcock (http://www.babycenter.com.au/expert/panelist#fiona_wilcock) answers:

It is recommended that you keep your baby on breastmilk, infant formula or follow-on formula for her first year. Once your baby has reached her first birthday, you can, if you want, start to give her full-fat cow's milk in a lidded beaker.

Why wait?
It is important to wait until your baby is one year old, as cow's milk doesn't contain sufficient iron to recommend its use before then, although small amounts of cow's milk can be used in cooking from six months. Infant formula milks and follow-on milks contain more iron and vitamins than cow's milk, and are the only alternative to breastfeeding for the first year. After the first six months of breastfeeding, breastmilk is not a good source of iron, so breastfeeding mums should make sure that weaning foods contain plenty of iron. This means using foods such as lean red meats, iron fortified breakfast cereals, purées of dried fruit, and tofu in your baby's diet.

How much?
From one year, milk should still play an important role in your baby's diet, as it provides essential protein, calcium, magnesium and vitamins B12 and B2 (riboflavin). Your baby needs to have a minimum of 350ml (two thirds of a pint) of full-fat cow's milk each day. If he or she becomes reluctant to drink milk, try offering two portions of calcium-rich foods a day. Yoghurt, cheese, tinned mashed sardines, tofu, white bread and chick peas all contain calcium.

Why full fat?
Full-fat or whole cow's milk is essential for your baby because she needs the energy that the fat in milk provides. Fat also carries essential vitamins A and D, so by skimming the fat off the milk, the vitamins are reduced, too. You should give your baby full-fat milk until she is at least two years old.

How should I give it?
There is no reason why your baby needs to have her drink warmed if she prefers it cool, but some health professionals feel that, at this stage, it is important to break the habit of a formula-fed baby relying on fluids coming from a teat. You may want to try offering the milk in a beaker with a soft spout or lidded cup, instead.

Sorry to double post, but i couldn't figure out how to write after i had put in that text!

Water: Tom has boiled water but i do give him tap water when we are at a cafe or something.

I was interested in the amount of people giving bubs wheatbix. I have avoided them because of the high fibre content, and i had a doctor tell me to wait till tom was 12 months, has anyone seems problems with poos? Wheatbix would be very easy. At the moment he has toast! I do know that Vita-brits don't have added sugar but wheatbix do.

Is tom the only one not crawling? Its pretty funny, he can shuffle for food but nothing else! Greedy boy!

Oral Thrush

When to see the doctor

Go to the doctor if:

you see white patches on the inside of your child’s mouth
your child is generally unwell or has a fever (http://raisingchildren.net.au/articles/fever_a.html) for no apparent reason
despite appropriate treatment, your child suffers from recurrent or persistent thrush infections. What causes it?

Thrush of the throat, tongue and lining of the mouth is caused by a fungus, or yeast, called Candida albicans, which normally lives in the body. If there is a disruption in the balance of organisms, the thrush organisms begin to multiply and produce an infection. This may be a result of treatment with antibiotics, which destroys normal bacteria in the bowel, and allows the thrush organisms to flourish.
Thrush can also be picked up during passage down the mother’s vagina at birth. If thrush organisms are present on anything that the baby sucks, such as a nipple, teat or pacifier, the baby may develop an oral infection.
Children who have a weak immune system for whatever reason are also more prone to developing thrush infections. But if your baby has thrush it does not necessarily mean that they have poor immunity.
Thrush does not spread from child to child.
What are the symptoms?

Usually babies and young children with oral thrush are unaware of it, as it generally does not irritate them, unless the areas involved become severely inflamed. If this does occur, babies may be reluctant to feed and toddlers may play with or refuse their meals. Parents may notice that their child has white patches or plaques on the inside of the cheeks, lips and tongue.
How is it treated?

Your doctor will usually prescribe special drops or an oral gel to be used after each feed or meal for 10 days. All teats and pacifiers should be sterilised (http://raisingchildren.net.au/articles/how_to_bottle-feed.html#disinfect) after each use to kill the thrush organisms. Sometimes oral thrush is accompanied by thrush in the nappy region (http://raisingchildren.net.au/articles/nappy_rash.html), which needs treatment at the same time. Thrush is not a reason to stop breastfeeding. Your doctor may advise you to apply some antifungal cream to your nipples as well. This should be washed off before feeding.
How can I prevent it?

Teats and bottles should be sterilised after each use to prevent recurrent thrush.

Hope thats of some help.

crawling ... my niece didn't start crawling (even commando crawling) til she was 11 months old. But within weeks she was confidently furniture walking. There are 2 of the 8 babies in my mothers group who aren't crawling (real or commando), so it's quite normal for bubs of this age not to crawl yet. My advice is to enjoy it while it lasts! Having a crawling baby and then a baby who likes to pull himself up to standing has completely changed our lives!

I've decided not to voice my concerns about my friends bub. She will go to her 12 month checkup in 2 months and I'm sure her CHN will mention something if his development is still not right.

Josh is essentially back to full health now. He's pretty tired, but then when he's awake he's full of energy. It's a novel concept to have a well baby. He's sleeping much better at night now - only waking once for milk and going back to sleep. He's also saying lots of 'mum's in the last 24 hours ... such a nice thing to hear from my bub :)

Just wondering what you have noticed with this child. It is hard to voice an opinion, i guess all you can do is
sutibley steer her in the right direction

All is ok here. I think Bridget is getting more teeth. She is off her food, dribbling heaps and really chewing into anything she can get her hands on!

Thanks for the research acacia- good info you have found there.

Hi everyone,

Sierra has cut her 3rd tooth. Its her first top one. She has been the biggest grumpy bum for a few days & has wanted to be comforted & cuddled. Now i know why. It wasnt thru this morning but by tonight the whole gum had split, it looks sore... poor bubba.

Hiya girls and bubs!!

Yah Acacia, really great info, thanks! V informative, as a lot of milk contradiction in literature, yours seems the most even handed. Also great for a reminder for the iron rich foods. H really has an appetite back or it has leapt in quantity! Got caught out short for lunch, oops!

Tabby, we've got about 3-4knee and hands in a go happening and then he flops down to commando to get there faster, mostly to the cat. But am sure it will come for them all..too soon he he..

Arh yes, the sitting up, I think we;ve had it the last week. Oh and finally!! clapping yesterday. All at once :) Oh and pointing all day. reading Wuthering Heights too :) Thanks for the good metaphor Flicka!! Just in case I'm sounding like an 'isn't my child a genius' type

H and I went to the airport to pick up his Nanna from a mediation retreat in Thailand  Am sure he was wondering where on earth we were and then his Nanna who he hadn't seen for 3wks appeared, YAH. V sweet to see happiness on both their faces.

Great to hear about your weekend Mim1 and glad Josh is back to his old energetic self. Looking forward to some pics.

arh and Cordelia, yes, like you and C, did take H for a ride, he just LOVES looking at and pointing to my bike, with HIS bike seat on it. And bought a 46-53cm helmet. Anyhow yesterday rode while his Dad ran and H just loved it, or was that me, back on a bike first time all year! Ok so it was 39degrees and then he had a dip in the river, but the concept of it was v sweet. Buff cycling legs coming up, he he heh eh. Should work out how to lose the tummy first :)

Well night night.. Night 4 or 5 of boiled water no feeding is going well, if anyone wants inspiration to start. He just goes back to sleep in the cot, no picking up/rocking etc, as he used to need up to last week. Only woke once last night for resettling, usually twice. Thank goodness. Well happy nights, all, sorry for the self centred post. Happy settling in Strawberry Shortcake, Talon + family!!!

YAH for Sierra's third tooth!! And I hope some more comfortable days for all now!!

Am just loving this age, or being a Mummy to a baby of this age..happy, can play alone, or nearby, interested in everything and is almost not getting into too much trouble, oh and I have less work demands than any time this year, YAH. Happy Mummy here!! Hope for all too. xx

acacia thanks for the oral thrush info. I ended up taking her to the doctor today as the weather was a bit better and we were right. Mild oral thrush, a cold sore and teething. Poor thing.

I also found out today that the Doctor for babies is free, all specialists and.... get this... all perscriptions. germany really love looking after kids. If I had known the gel was free with a script I would have gone straight away! We also get 150euro a month, not means tested not taxed! and this is all as residents, citizens get alot more.

mim1 I agree with the crawling thing. Clea wasnt even doing tummy time at 6 months and then within 2 months she sat, pulled herself up, started cruising and then was walking at 9 months. I would have loved a bit more time of not walking! It is hard work. So glad to hear Josh is better. Hope you are catching up on sleep.

charis good work settling bub with water. I love this age as well. Clea has just started cuddling us. sometimes she stops playing walks over and she wraps her little arms tight around my body. So lovely.

I know its early... but what is everyone doing for first birthday cake? no eggs. no sugar??? Its hard. I thought maybe frozen berries would be good because they look bright. Sugarless jelly could be good. I want to make an adult cake and a cakey thing that we can give Clea to destroy.

DFB- Did not know they cant have cake. I have given Bridget some cake before and all has been ok. First birthday will make a cake, have a little party with some friends. You have to have a first birthday party- it is such a milestone, one year down, and hasn't it gone down so quickly. Oh and Germany sounds very generous with bubs- wish our gov was.

Talking Gov- this election is getting so confusing, I am really stumped in regards to who will make a better pm?

:smiliedance: For Sierra cutting her 3rd tooth and :smiliedance: for Hunter sitting and clapping all at once!

I woke at 2:30 am today with seriously bad heart burn- could not get back to sleep for ages. It was so painful. Think I will be tired today now.

I have to go shopping today for groceries, pick up mulitple boxes from Post office (presents ordered through Chrisco) and get a bit of washing done- Busy busy.

Talk soon:wave:

hello all:wave:

It's been ages again, i'm so bad!!! Well I couldn't get on here fast enough today as I just have to tell someone................

I just got a :bfp: ! OH MY GOD!

I shouldn't really be too shocked though as we weren't really preventing it, but weren't trying either ya know. So ya, have to wait a few more hours for DF to come home. He's just started a new job today so I'm hoping that went well and he'll be in a good mood for this news. I really don't know what his reaction will be TBH. I'm pretty happy but still very much in shock. As for the edd, i'm stumped as I kinda had two af's last month thanks to that stupid minipill- oh and just for the record, the minipill is a horrible thing, well in my opininon anyway. So I'm either 4 weeks or 6 weeks. I guess now would be a good time to find a gp now we're settled back in Canada, lol.

I'm hoping anyone else in our thread that's TTC gets a BFP right quick so we can be preggy buddies again. Tabby, I have everything crossed for you!!

Hope everyone's going well and enjoying the hot weather over there. We've just got our first dump of snow on the mountains here, I love it, I had missed it so much! Well i need to go and clear my head a bit I think, will try and get back on later after I give df the news! take care all

:yelclap: :yelclap: Yay! Big congratulations Aries!!

Just a quick one from me before I try and do some work to let you know that Cameron's procedure went well on Monday and he's fine. Almost thought it would have to be postponed when he was running a fever of 39.8 on Sat night though. Came down a bit with a bath but then up again so gave him some panadol and called 24hr health advice line for reassurance. Even though I knew no need to panic unless he had other sypmtoms or it persisted for a couple of days we just needed to hear someone else tell us that. But down to 38 by Sunday morning and normal by Sunday arvo and the cause remains a mystery.

And C is finally joining the list of crawling bubs. Commando style pushing off with toes. Has also been doing push-ups onto hands and toes bum up in the air (and sometimes head for extra support) but no knees yet.

Will be back when I have more time to put some new pics of Cameron on and also a pic off our Jack Russel to show off to Tabby.

Oh & :hugs: for Clea's thrush & coldsore DFB. I get cold sores too and wouldn't wish them on anyone. C was playing with my lip a few weeks ago shortly before I realised one was coming on and I started wondering what it would mean for BF if he did catch it from me. Or because I get them anyway it wouldn't matter?

hi again! i keep popping up, having problems with computer at work. i hope you dont mind me thread crashing?!

congratulations to those that are pregnant! how exciting another one on the way!

i am starting to have a breakthrough with Tayah and getting her to sleep, horray! she has always been a hard one to get to sleep so, as just been easier to rock, but in the last few days i have put her to bed and se has played and put self to sleep-only a little bit of crying, today none-so fingers crossed.

The poor thing last week has been having a hard time with her teeth. At night she woke every 20-30 mins screaming. The top 6 are all swollen, but still nothing. Hopefully they will cut soon.

Just wondering if anybody has any ideas for things to do for the babies? i work in a shop and tayah comes with me, and she gets a bit bored. (myself included) its a little like you cant leave your lounge all day. (thats what the back rom is set up like! i have toys but as she is at the age of into everything but not really playing, exploring more i need some new ideas! any would be great!!

aries ... congrats!!

lovemyprincess ... have you got a musical piano like toy of any kind? Josh loves this little 4 note zylophone we were given. The notes sound horrid and high pitched to my ears, but he loves them! He also chases balls of all kinds around for ages. The other thing you can try is a partially blown up balloon. Josh would play with his for ages. He's had two, they don't last that long (a few days) but they are fun while they last. The idea with partially blown up means that they don't ever 'pop'.

Better go and do stuff while josh is asleep. We're having much better nights now ... just back to the late to bed routine, but I'll keep working on that. It did mean he slept in til 9am today, so I'm not really complaining.

Aries: CONGRATULATIONS!!! Happy 9 months hun! such a wonderful surprise

Me, I dont think its my month, I did get a faint bfp on fortel yesterday but I wasnt happy, it was thin line, anyhow did a pregnosis this morning and its a bfn. Only 4 days from AF but am cramping so dont think the b!tch is far away.
Hopefully a xmas bfp, would be a great pressie for the ils and mine.

DFB: All the trimmings here for the 1st birthday. eggs whites are okay from 12 months and shes already eating the yolk so will be a go for us. Shes had cake before now anyway.
The family are all coming over for xmas eve dinner (Katies birthday) so should be nice.
Am sure there Mil will feed more than I like (have to watch her) to worry about a bit of cake from me lol

Charis: I dont think we are far off, since sitting her self shes quite happy to crawl around now. Ive washed the floor twice and still dirty knees!
We are also getting bikes and baby seat for xmas! Cant wait! So close to the river will be lovely rides that am sure Katie will love as much as C and H. You sounds very happy and relaxed , Yay for the sitting AND clapping, what a clever fellow learning two things at once.

Tiredmummy: YAY for more toothy pegs!

liviesmum: I had some serious HBurn towards the end, oh dear it does hurt doesnt it. Hope its short lived for you :hugs:

Cat: yay for the crawling AND his procedure went smoothly :hugs:

lovemyprincess: grats with the better sleeps, hope she continues to go down easier for you.
Play ideas: argh Im at home and find it ever so hard, Katie is a real thinker so needs lots of stimulation and its ever so hard. Im also at a loss, new toys last about a day before boredom sets in, will let you know if I find anything though.

Mim: Sounds like things are really getting back to normal for yous, sleep ins and great night, tis good to hear!

Us: Katie had a massive spew last night, not reflux, it was :barf:. She woke at 1030pm and wouldnt go back so went in there and ewww it was everywhere and smelt SO bad, so up and a wash and change bedding, turn mattress over and in my arms to cuddle to sleep. 1130 and back in bed and all was well
Had to bath her this morning though as it was still all over her, I feel terrible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She slept in it for at least a couple of hrs!!!! Other than the usual protests to sleep I didnt hear it happen over monitor, maybe she was asleep when did it, as usually she would protest HUGELY if spews. I have now turned the monitor WAY up. feel ever so guilty
:( Can tin tuna be off on opening?????? Last night was tuna morney, made fresh by me and serve as soon as cooled, is the only thing I can think of. Its not the milk, it wasnt a milk spew and shes been fine on it for the two days... No diarrhea ...argh arent they just so confusing lol

My learnt lesson for today: DONT buy cheapie pregnancy tests, they give you false hope.
I knew that line was bit too thin, so tried not to get my hopes up but of course you do.
So did a pregnosis this morning and bfn. Not over till AF shows though...

Tiredmummy- :yelclap: for the toothy pegs
Mim – Glad to hear things are getting back to normal for you and Josh.
Aries – A big Congrats on your :bfp: All the best in the coming months.
Cat – Glad cameron’s procedure went well on Monday. :smiliedance: on the crawling.
Us – 2 words I'm Buggered  Been busy organising the house almost finished the unpacking. Just have my room and Talon’s room to go. Finally got Talon back to his normal routine, after his routine went out of the window when we left brissy. Have a dr appointment on Friday and hopefully they can give me a date for my c-section, not long to go now starting to freak me out lol.

Anyway better go and finish unpacking boxes before hubby comes home from work. Gotta go and do groceries this arvo.

Tabby - Really hope you get your :bfp: :hugs:

We've just had a house valuer here. Not sure what our landlord is up too. Thinking he might want to sell. Awful time of year to do it though. Not worrying about it but just trying to have the thought of moving in the back of my mind so i'm not completely shocked if it happens & am a little prepared for it. He might have just wanted to get the house valued before he considered air con. Bit strange though, he's never done one in the 3 yrs we've been here & as soon as we ask for something, this happens. He still hasnt given us an answer about the air con & its been about 5 weeks since we asked, so maybe he doest want to do it if he's thinking of selling. Oh well... i spose we will see what happens. I would love to move but its just a busy time with the holidays, all the girls b'days & DD1 starting school.
Anyway my vent over lol.

tiredmummy ... sorry to hear that you might have to move. It may be he just wanted to know how much the house is worth so he can borrow more money or something?

strawberry ... you've been busy! well done! i hope you get to relax really soon - you need it!

Josh might have taken his first step yesterday. My dh were watching him, but couldn't see him from his waist down. All we saw was that he was standing up, with neither hand holding onto anything and he moved. We're not sure if he was leaning up against the wall of the playpen or if he took a step or just swayed, but he definitely moved before he grabbed at something to keep himself upright. I'm shocked! I didn't expect him to be anywhere near walking yet!

Katie is doing the same, shes at her happiest when standing and walking round on the furniture..always trying to go hands free too  . Its so damn scary lol.

tiredmummy: Hopefully he was just evaluating for insurance purposes or something :fingerscrossed:

aries congratulations. thats so exciting.:smiliedance:

cat13 thanks. i get coldsores to. last night i gave her panadol. i cant thinkof anything to put on them and today she has another inside her lip. i suspect its the cold air. luckily she is still bfing but hates solids right now. yay for c crawling.

topic - cake hmmm... i think maybe dh and i have been pretty strict with food. Clea eats egg yolks, but no whites, she hasnt had any sugar only a tiny bit of salt. actually she mostly eats whole steamed veges, cheese, whole pasta, toast and yoghurt. think i will try her with whole eggs before her b'day. wouldnt want a reaction on her bday!

mim1 yay for walking. it hapens very fast, before you know it he will be waddling eveywhere.

tabby hope its not af:thumbsdown:

lovemyprnicess we spend most days inside. this is always an issue with us aswell. yesterday i put an open suitcase on the floor and clea spent 30mins climbing in and out and putting things in it. i put boxes down, big pillows, kitchen things, her socks or little toys in transparent bag (you know the bathroom/cosmetic type with a zipper) we play peek a boo alot, clapping and everyday we practice blowing in the recorder, i bought a heap of instruments from the cheap-shop. sounds like lots but she gets bored of my games. hope i gave you some ideas.

strawberry sounds like you should be resting.hope all goes well at the docs and they give you a date.

:babydust2: Congratulations Aries, that is lovely news!!

Bad luck on the testing Tabby, hopefully we will both get to give everyone some nice xmas news next month!!

:smiliedance: well done to all the clever bubbas who are getting up and about

Us - I have picked up the gastro Macy had so Im having a day off today. Im meant to be attending a senior first aid course tmrw so hopefully I'll be better as work are paying for me to do it. Although I am a bit torn between that and Jozef's sports day tmrw. He has been picked to run in the big R-7 relay at the end of the day and I would love to go and watch him. Im hoping his dad will be able to get the day off and come down so at least someone will be there!!

Macy is now up to 4 teeth and has started taking a few definate steps around the place by herself, so I think we will officially have a 'toddler' by the end of the month...

Anyway, our house is a disgusting pig-sty so I better go attempt to put it back into order in between trips to the loo. Also, we might be getting a visit from my brother on the weekend so another reason to tidy up. He has been living in Qld for the past few years and is flying out to Spain for 3 months on the 20th (all for the cause of love awwww) so mum is thinking of buying him a plane ticket to Adelaide for the weekend so we can see him before he goes

Well enjoy your day and your forever changing babies everyone

Tabby, Massive :hugs: It will happen soon!

Korahblue, hope you feel better!

Me, I went to the dentist yesterday and he has sent me home with instructions to get as much dental cover as possible. The actual work didn't hurt a bit but the bills will!

Michael freaked me out this morning, he was happily playing in his walker while I was on the computer, I turned around and he was on the floor - out of the walker. Don't know how he managed it but won't be able to take my eyes off him in it now!

DS1 is still throwing multiple tantrums per day, he just squeals & screams & throws himself around at the drop of a hat!

tired*mummy
15-11-2007, 10:36 AM
Sammy - about Michael getting out of his walker. I hate the dentist too. DH needs heaps of work done at the moment, we have already spent $900 & he still needs another $2000 worth done. Why they are so expensive i dont know but its not fair. DH had 2 little fillings done on monday & its was $310:mad: Its ridiculous. Can you get dental cover for pre existing problems though? If so maybe we should look into getting some.

KorahBlue - Hope you are feeling better soon. I hate Gastro... even the thought of it & how you feel when you have it makes me feel really sick.

Us - Not much on today. DD1 & 2 are at kinder so its nice & quite (except for Sierra talking in the background lol) Have until 4pm to get stuff done & relax before i have to pick them up.

korahblue
15-11-2007, 10:41 AM
Tiredmummy - you should be able to get private insurance for dental on extras no worries. Pre-existing conditions are more for medical/hospital claims. Shop around and you should be able to get a good deal and they might also waive the 2 month waiting period. Apparently Medibank private have quite good extras. Hubby's teeth were disgusting when I met him and we have slowly got them fixed over the past 2 years with our private health extras.

Thanks for the ideas! i will definantly get instruments and a keyboard i think! I will also get some balloons, i hadnt tried them yet. She gets bored of my games also-she has plenty of toys but she looses interest fast and i can only sing so much! i just wish for some grass or something. I am going to bring some sand and put it out the back in a clam shell i think-i can just sweep it up!

This morning i picked Tayah up, felt something wet, looked at my arm and she had done a nice poo that had come out-later when i was leaing the house, i slipped on something, looked down and realised it was on poo! im just glad she didnt crawl through it! gave me a little laugh this morning!

Cat13
15-11-2007, 11:04 AM
 I have a nice poo story too lovemyprincess. For some reason yesterday I thought I could cook dinner and give Cameron nappy free time at the same time. After a few minutes it seemed unusually quiet and I saw him playing wth something and wondered what it could be....yep he was having a tummy slide in poopy. Everywhere except his face and hair thank god hands hadn't made it to his mouth yet. Obviously he got a good hose down ASAP! Still, I'd rather that than have to deal with Katie's giant spew Tabby. Poor little mite, not nice to spend that long in spew but nothing to feel bad about. You weren't to know and she'll be fine.

Hope you feel better soon Korah and send the nasty gastro packing.

Mim, guess you'll find out soon enough if it was a first step!

LOL at your houdini Sammy. :fingerscrossed: the next escape is not from the cot!

Having a stay at home day because C has his first proper cold but still in good spirits. I think the constantly dripping nose worries me more than him. Maybe that's why the high temp on the weekend but 4 days between fever & cold symptoms seems alot?

Tabby
15-11-2007, 11:50 AM
LOL Cat, that was close! We had a close call yesterday too! She wasnt go down to nap easily so went in to re settle and one side of nappy undone and the reason why no settle was obvious, a big poop in there WHEW! so close, must have only just come undone.
Quite often a cold will come after the high temp, even a few days but it could be another too, run down with a temp to pick up anew, hope hes feeling well soon and nothing to major cold wise:hugs:

lovemyprincess; close one for you too, lucky was before you got out.
You would think we would almost all be past all these poo/spew sagas lol

tired*mummy: Have a lovely peaceful day

Sammy: WHAT THE??? was the walker still upright???? good lord, I think your going to have your hands full there hun.

Korah: Thanks :hugs: All the best for you for that xmas wish too xx

liviesmum: How did Bridget go in her bed, she stay there?

DFB: Yep before the actual day sounds like a good plan. I think the fact Katie has had cakes / muffins etc were okay..
speaking of
I had given Katie, muffins/cakes etc not even thinking yet only cooked up the yolk, so does that mean she would be okay egg white, if shes had products with egg white cooked in it like those before now?

Feeling much better today. ( some very painful cramps though???!!!)
Katie and I grabbed a couple of muffins and a chockmilk and the areoguard ( thank goodness lol) and a rug & headed to the river bank for morning tea. OH MY!!! It was the best thing for me, she ate her muffin and looked at the speed boats and skiers and I got constant cuddles!!! It was like a thanks Mum this is great stuff!
She makes me so happy! and if there is no more then thats okay  ( will stop ttc mid year 2008)

Hiyall!

Nice hot day today. Been out for a bit of xmas:xmas: shopping today. Mainly just stocking fillers and I got a lovely 9ct gold locket for DD1. She has been asking for one all year. I went to Prouds and Got a lovely one for $79 reduced from $130, so not too bad!

I t is hard to buy stocking fillers for a baby though.

Tabby- yes Bridget slept til 5am then with us til 7am, so thats pretty good. What a lovely morning tea- it sounded very special.

Sammy- OMG the walker! Actually reminds me 2 weeks ago was shopping in Coles and got a trolley where the belt did not work, but was already in the shop and too late to change so i thought- she'll be right. As I was unloading down the other end of the trolley I looked up and saw that bridget had got up and was wobbling holding on to the sides of the bar. I yelled out at Olivia to quickly grab her before she fell. It was so sacary!

lovemyprincess And Cat13- funny poopy stories that were probably not funny at the time!

tired*mummy- hope you had a nice relaxing day!

About to go to the hospital to see a friends bub. He was born yesterday. Just waiting for DH to get home so we can go- I cant wait to see a new born again.

hello all

It's been ages again, i'm so bad!!! Well I couldn't get on here fast enough today as I just have to tell someone................

I just got a :bfp: ! OH MY GOD!

WHOOOOHOOOOOO!
Congrats Aries, hope DP took it well.

:hugs: to the sick bubs at the moment.
Sterilising...stopped at about 5 months
Real Milk....still have to work out which is cheaper for us, formula or the long life lactose free.
Cakes...I've already give her scrambled eggs (both yolk and white) and she loves piklets (with both egg and sugar). Remember Perthis, I have a number of cake tins you can borrow.

Just a quick check in while DH is looking after the kids. The Perth-Brissie flight went ok, with TJ sleeping for the first hour. Our 5.5 hours in Brissie turned out to be 6.5 (after flight delays), so both kids slept between Brissie and Newcastle.

SIL and kids are both sick so we haven't seen them since Saturday (kind of relieved about that:devil6: ) Lots of mozzies here, so we don't venture outside the netted verandah. Getting lots of sleep, and TJ seems to be sleeping better. Which verifies my thoughts on her diet causing the night waking - will be getting tough with daycare when we get home.

Had better go,
Lisa

Tabby, how long did it take to fall pregnant las time? I hope it goes well. Have you tried the rythem method?

Congrats on the BFP. Thats very exciting! How did hubby take it?

Tom is much better. Woke up a 3am and played for an hour....i just undid my top and let him have feeds on and off so i could sleep. I love that he can feed himself now!

I gave Tom a whole egg the other day...i didn't realise i couldn't give it too him. He is ok though.

Sorry this will be short, im a bit tired.

Acacia: We tried for 6 months before seeing a fertility specialist and He tested DH's sperm and I had a lap and dye and everything came back perfect so he put me on clomid and I fell first round, the month after the L & P so 8 months all up. Am on clomid again, have another round (rnd 2) to go then back to FS if I can find a bulk bill one, unlike other was private so lots of $!
Hope you get a good nights sleep to fix that tiredness.

Mouse: Great on the sleeping, hope it continues. Did you change her diet?

liviesmum: wonderful that Bridget slept so well in her own bed! :fingerscrossed: it keeps up for you. Will allow you some more restful nights sleep am sure, which youll need, if not already.

Katie must have a tummy upset, she threw up again at dinner, she was coughing like something was tickling her throat and after a few up it came! Maybe its cos she was reflux baby she tends to throw up easier as food still sits there??? anyone know? She also does it easy when really upset.

Hi all, thanks so much for the congrats!! Still hasn't really sunk in yet though. Well DF is thrilled, much different reaction compared to last time, lol. I guess it helps that we already have boring lives! na j/k. I'm pretty sure I am due july 14 2008, but could be more or less a week once i've had a dating scan.

So looks like there are a few of us that will have very close age gaps. A question to those who have had a bub and a toddler, my worry is how I will be able to sit and bf hours on end with a newbie, how did you do that and entertain the toddler at the same time? I just can't get my head around how I will do this as the memory of X as a newbie is still so clear, I can still remember thinking "how the h*ll would I cope with 2"?!?! lol. Too late now!!

Mouse- hope you're enjoying your holiday, sucks about the mozzies though, there's nothing I hate more. How long are you all away for?

Tabby, the am tea at the river sounds so nice, and to think I could have joined you if we were still there!! Was great being so close to the river!

Liviesmum- I bet it will be surreal to see a newbie and to think you'll have one before long! Funny how fast you forgot (sort of) about that stage!!

CAT13- have you noticed any new teeth come through with c's cold? X seems to get a very drippy nose too, then a new little tooth seems to appear hmmm:detective:

well i'm off to try and have a am nap with X. Funny how now i know im pg, the tiredness seems to have kicked in straight away. All in the head lol. Take care to you all

aries ... glad you are all thrilled. Let us know when your EDD is confirmed. I talked to mum about having 2 bubs and the early days and she said it isn't too bad. Here are a couple of her suggestions for when you are breastfeeding #2 - have a special toy for #1 that only comes out during breastfeeding (suggestions include a doll that can be fed/changed 'just like mummy is doing'). Another thing to do is to BF on a lounge so that there is room next to you and read #1 a book while you breastfeed. We forget that in the early days talking, reading, watching TV, etc was possible (now at 10 months it's not possible at all, but the feeds are very short of course!). Mum said that she really enjoyed BFing cause it became special time with both #1 and #2. My brother and I were 20 months apart, so it's a similar gap to yours. HTH

Josh's reflux played up overnight ... I feel like it's 1 step forward, 2 steps back. So, I was up with him from 12 - 12:30, then he woke again at 2:30, but I was so grumpy and tired that I had to wake up dh to deal with him. I next woke up at 3:40am and dh wasn't back in bed ... josh was playing! So, dh went to bed and I let josh play then fed him, finally getting back to bed at 4:30am. Josh then woke at 7:30am. I don't know what set off his reflux, but it's SO annoying ... I really need to pay more attention to what I feed him, making sure he gets lots of fruit (evidentally more than 3 serves in 2 days) to prevent constipation (the slightest hint of constipation makes his reflux go nuts) ...

Anyway, he's asleep again, so I'd best do a million things that need doing.

Acacia
16-11-2007, 08:37 AM
Did you breastfeed Tabby? I'm sure it will happen soon, i bet that when you stop thinking about it BAM it will just happen! I think stress can have a lot to do with it. I know of a few people that have tried for ages, given up then it suddenly happened!:hugs:

Aries, im glad your df was happy! Yes i think the tiredness is probably psychosomatic! Toms dad reckon that as soon as i knew i was pregnant i 'suddenly had weird cravings'....really it was just an excuse to eat lots!

Mim i hope things get better. How is the reflux treated? Is he having any water?

Last night was horrific. Its prob the closest ive come to walking out the door and having a smoke. Tom screamed for prob an hour....using me like a human dummy, then he drifted off...i had something to eat but was exhausted so got into bed when he started again for prob 4 minutes, but he was hitting me and pinching me. I got so mad and sat on the edge of the bed about to cry...i regained my cool and settled him back down, but i have no idea what the problem was. Maybe the heat and he was overtired, but i will be interested to see how he acts with his dad tonight. I definately am well overdue for this break that im getting this weekend though!

mim- thank you so much for those excellent tips, I agree the best thing would be to include the toddler in the feeding, that sounds very special!

Acacia- Hope you enjoy your MUCH deserved break from Tom. Xavier is the same while trying to settle him in bed with me, constant face slapping, hair pulling etc; And ya as an ex smoker I sooooooo know what ya mean about wanting to storm off and just smoke ciggy after ciggy!! Never would though, especially now, lol.

Aries: Wonderful that DF was so happy! Youll cope just fine hun. I have read that a baby wrap sling is the best buy for newborns and when have a toddler, then if bub is cranky and X wants your attention, baby will be happy as still close to you too.
http://www.carryingaway.com.au/product-p/gn-p-for.htm
that sort of one, wraps I think they are called. You can even bf while they are in it.
Hope you managed some rest xxx

Mim: Hope Josh is feeling better today and some catching up of sleep. I too have had issues again re: reflux! Just when you think youve got it under control :( so frustrating.

Acacia: I only BF for 3 weeks sadly, I ended up back in hospital with c-sec infection, then got a bit of pnd and just couldnt handle it all at once, still trying to establish bf and very ill was just to much for me.
Katie is also pinching and slapping!!! Quite the tanty.
Hope you w.e is a relaxing one and lots of "me" time to recharge xxx

Well I still am holding on with hope that I have done it this month, the cramps are SO BAD! Way more than AF should be giving me.
Some serious insomnia last night it was so bad, just couldnt get in a position where they didnt hurt. AF cramps usualy come and go, this has been with me for 3 full days/nights now. Its even making me a bit nauseous.

Katie has been full of cuddles again this morning!
So lovely to see, shes never been one for cuddles really.
Does anyone elses bub hate having there hand held? Katie hates it! I dont mean forcefully hold, just trying to gently hold and she yanks away with a look of quite straight out dont do that!

She has also almost mastered another word!
For days I have heard a "ba" but didnt know what on earth she was trying to say, yesterday she pointed at the bottle and said "ba" and it was nap time, so I said bubba want bot bot and nini's and she made the usual grizzle for it.
Again just now she said "ba" out of the blue and pointed at the bottle that was on the floor from earlier! :D again it was time for nap and bottle.

Mouse: Great on the sleeping, hope it continues. Did you change her diet?
No, but it's easier to ensure she's not getting
lactose. Marg, cheese etc.
:hugs: hope those cramps ease soon

So looks like there are a few of us that will have very close age gaps. A question to those who have had a bub and a toddler, my worry is how I will be able to sit and bf hours on end with a newbie, how did you do that and entertain the toddler at the same time? I just can't get my head around how I will do this as the memory of X as a newbie is still so clear, I can still remember thinking "how the h*ll would I cope with 2"?!?! lol. Too late now!!

Mouse- hope you're enjoying your holiday, sucks about the mozzies though, there's nothing I hate more. How long are you all away for?
A special DVD for X while resting (while pg) and while BF might also give you some more time. Bananas in PJ's was the first DVD that DD1 really tuned into.
We're half way through. One week down, one to go. Can't even go for a walk outside with the moszzies. Though TJ and I sit outside in the netted area watching/listening to the birds lots.

hope everyone's having a good day,
Lisa

I just realized Im due AF today! lol
No sign as yet :fingerscrossed:

Mouse: So many bugs this year! mossies there and oh my god, the flies yesterday morning at the river...so many they almost carted us away
Felt like I was in GinGin

Poor Katie had the hardest poo ever just now, she was straining earlier and knew it was coming..down for the nap and she started crying...Held her upright while she cried and strained, finally it came out...argh dont you hate it when they are in pain and there is nothing you can do.
Gave her some water in hopes that that is the last of it.

FIngers crossed Tabby.

So excited about tonight. Leaving Caitlin at her Nanna and Pop's and going to the Crowded House concert!! YIPPEE!! Been waiting months for this. Mum is great with Caitlin so I love not worrying knowing she is happy.

PROBLEM.

Caitlin is still not eating. Any suggestions?

If I give her food before her bottle (which she is loving) then she just refuses it. She just doesn't like eating. She's putting on weight but her colour is not so rosy anymore. She doesn't look very healthy :/

I'm thinking I might need to go see CHN again :(

oh tabby I have everything crossed for you that the witch AF stays away for you! Was reading your post before, and I have similar cramps, not like AF ones, can tell they're the "stretching" kind, and even though I'm so tired, have been a complete insomniac the last few days!! You just may have done it u know :fingerscrossed:

oh and thanks for the tip about the sling, I do have a really good one that I got when X was small, but didn't get much use of it as he got too big too fast. On that note, I'm really hoping I get a "little" baby next time, preferably even one I can actually push out my giney!

must be my week for poos! yesteday slipped in it and today it went all over my side and up my arm! she really is a poo machine!

Tonight we are travelling-a four hour drive which would be fine, except Tayah doesnt last 5 minutes without screaming in the car, most babies like the car, not mine (or the pram!) so im stressing about it. Lots of stops and hopefully she willgo to sleep as its bed time. Its awful-and then i get cross and turn the music up full blast as it really is distracting-it worries me that i will crash one day. I have tried everything and breadsticks work for 5 mins! i just dont drive far.

hope everyone has a good weekend-its very hot here.:)

Cat13
16-11-2007, 02:11 PM
lovemyprincess, I don't usually suggest keeping bubs awake when they are tired but maybe if you do this before the car trip she won't be able to help zonking out for most of it?

cordelia, is there any food that she likes? Sometimes if Cameron is not interested in whatever mush I'm trying to serve I find he is still quite happy to grab finger food from me - cooked peeled zucchini, pasta spirals, peas, corn, avacado slices, chop bones....... especially if it is during OUR dinner time and not his but we are combining the two these days.

tabby, everything is crossed for you. U never know...! And no, Cameron does not like his hands held either. Nail clipping is a nightmare.

nope, no new teeth Aries ....although I do try and have a peek each time he wakes up from a nap. Hehe, Cameron was a teeny 6pd4oz and I still needed help getting him out!

A good weekend to all.

Tabby
16-11-2007, 03:37 PM
lovemyprincess: I agree with the keeping her up and leaving when shes ready to go sleep. we travel to GinGin, only a hour away but Katie hates the car longer than 10 mins, but works a treat, she sleeps for most of it.

Cat: Yep along with the hand hold is the terror that is nail clipping! Hate doing it so usually just file them once a week to keep them down.

Cordelia: how exciting!!! have a wonderful night out! and let us know how it was, though I know it will be great!
Sorry no help here on the getting her to eat :(
Havnt had that problem so no ideas, sorry!

Still no AF...cramps have eased today thank goodness, If she doesnt show by the morning Ill test again, maybe I tested too early and Ovulated later than thought.

Yesterday Katie was crawling around me while I sat the floor with my sandals off, next minute shes got the sandal and trying to put it on my foot! She got it eventually though upside down, and she gave me such a smug look

Tabby, I still have everything double crossed for you! I remember being very crampy with both DS's. Clever Katie with a new word and the shoe scenario!

Lovemyprincess, good luck with the car trip. With regards to poo stories, M has developed the nasy habit of doing it in the bath - could be worse but am getting very tired of sterilising the toys, bath seat and non-slip mat. My bathroom continually smells of disinfectant. I know we are all getting more relaxed with sterilising but I draw the line at poo!

Aries, hope you score a little bub this time! another tip for X while BF, set up a smorgasboard of snacks for him to work through - worked a treat for my friend - no good for me as DS1 is a hopeless eater!

Cordelia, have a wonderful night! Food, all you can do is perservere with the food even though it is incredibly frustrating.

The Walker remained upright when M got out, all I can guess that happened was that he had the walker wedged in a hallway so it wasn't wobbling much, he must have bounced and pulled himself out - strong arms from all the commando crawling! Haven't had a repeat but am watching like a hawk!

Hi girls, how are you all?

:fingerscrossed: Tabby a/f stays away- what a nice little suprise that would be!

Lovemyprincess- DD1 was a bad traveller so we would travel at night and she would sleep. Bridget has been great thankgod.

Aries- I am worried about the b/f too. I said to mum last week I would be lucky to be able to do it with an active 14 month old on the go!

Mouse- Hope you are enjoying your holiday on the East Side!!

Sammy- the walker incident is still very scary! esp at this age- whats going on- LOL

The newborn looked very small yesterday at the hospital but was the same size as Bridget born (7lb 10oz- not small at all). It is funny how you do forget. Bloody dh told me what the babies name was, so I wrote it in the card, got to the hospital and it was a totally different name!!:o how embarressing!

Well one night in her bed and the next in ours- but both DD's had a hard time sleeping last night- heat I think! we will get there.

Better go and start thinking about what to have for dinner!

WOOHOOO WWOOO HOOI know I'm a whole day late Aries, but congrats congrats congrats!!! Oh my goodness too!!!!! Good on you. And your DF too!!! I did txt you, (original birth announcement partner :) but no 'roving' on your phone I guess. Such wonderful news. Have you told any rellies?? Or just a you+DF and X and us secret :)

V interesting reading about the toddler attention/distraction techniques during b-fing.

LovemyPrincess all the best with the trip back! All of H's trips except one have been v v long sleeps, but had one horror scream scream session and completely overtired. He is so used to sleeping in the car while I drive around for work, but as a complete last resort is always Rusks! And if its really hot even with the Aircon and I don't mind a drenched bub, then free rein with the open sippy cup. Awesome that you can entertain bub at work.. reckon moving them from location to location even in the same area is a good one too, ie: highchair for one sort of play to floor for another, but am sure you do this.H now has a big playpen next to my desk and he can watch me while entertaining himself..works about 15mins.

Oh and STANDING today. Cot of course, outside holding onto a v big bucket, oh gosh! He strong little arms after all that commando too. Ecck for Michael!!!!! Houdini

Cordelia, how wonderful for your night out!! I am thinking back a couple of pages for Acacias post about amongst other things iron. That's one thing that might make little C lose her color. At the same time, was it MouseBrown saying that sometimes they seem to live off air and othertimes just EAT EAT EAT. Hope all is well.

Great about Camerons stent op going ok on Mon and for his temp dropping before. Amazing synchronicity across the bubs here, as yesterday pre brekky, I decided to put H down sans clothes and nappy before brekky. The phone rings and from the distance I could hear one of those grunty pushy sounds, oh golly, so got over as fast as I could and he's pulling it and kneading it hand to hand, UHGHUHGUHG. Not to mouth either I think!!THANK GOODNESS. OH OOPS. Oh and I was still on the phone, so I was trying to clean up hands, bottom ugh, whist talking to a glazier. Lucky was a solid little relatively unsmelly one. but UGIHGIGHGIHGIHG. Don't tell me toilet training it all gets worse before it gets better...but pulling it apart, I really think that is a 10mth thing ONLY.:fingerscrossed:

Really cute Tabby about your little huggy one!!!! Lovely Katie. H sometimes likes his hands held, but mostly is the pull away. He's not really ever hugged off his own accord, but now he moves crawling up Mummy is a favorite, I am sure of many on here.

MouseBrown great great holiday time for you all. V special for all of you. Am sure its old news to you, but did read about ERG and Sydney last week, wasn't sounding great, but am sure there is a much bigger story to what was reported. Hope you're still on San Fran.

night night all. Anyone with a little sucking all night bubby who wants to change it, I think we're one week into the cooled boiled water and have one wake up a night for 1min-60min (!) but he stays in cot till morning, oh was a bit of shsushing for a 60min and a bit of swearing too, oops! OH YAH.But most nights v v fast back to sleep. It is refreshing having my bed back.. Have even had some dreams I think. he he :smiliedance:

Charis: how great to hear the nights in the cot for Hunter are still good, well done!!! yep sure does feel great to have your own bed back if youve been cosleeping ( ds2 for 3 years, hence why katie never got the chance lol)
Speaking of such...spent the night at the the IL's and Katies first night out of own bed, NOT GOOD, was in the porta cot, she went down okay but woke 2 hrs later when we went to bed and after about a hr of her tossing in between us she finally went back to sleep and oh my! She will NEVER co sleep with us lol. she tossed and turned all bloody night, 430am I put her back the cot and I got some sleep till 630 so am very tired.
Mil is going to get a cot for up there and have similar to here so hope that works better.
Charis, Katie has been a huggy one for ages now, pooh bear gets most of them, she also goes "awww" when she hugs, so cute! but have noticed since that day river shes more huggy than usual, more for me and others than pooh bear now hehe.

liviesmum: LOL @ dh!!!!!!!!!! Poor you, I would have been embarrassed too, am sure they understand though huh, men!

Sammy: Gee, his arms must be SO strong! very scary thought that can get out what seems to be so easily. Hopefully was a one off.

a bfn today, but no AF in sight still..and due yesterday
Will wait a few more and see.

Just a quick one while im popping in. Spent 4 hours up early this morning with Macy as she had :barf: in her cot and then continued to dry reach every half hour or so. She is really not having a good run of it lately.

Tabby - i'll still keep:fingerscrossed: for you, it would be great if you get your BFP!!

Charis - love your poo story. For some reason poo stories just crack me up. I must have a very immature sense of humour hehe

I spent 3 hours at the tattoo studio today getting a couple of tattoo's redone. They look sooo much better and I had Macy's name added to one of them so Im really happy about them.

Well i really need to get some  .

I hope all our babies give us a great nights sleep.

PS would anyone else be interested in doing a secret santa kind of thing with just xmas cards for our babies? I thought it would be easier and cheaper than trying to get little presents. Im happy to organise, so if you want to take part send me a PM and I guess in a couple of weeks I'll let everyone know who they are secret santa to

Just a quick one from me - i really need my sleep at the moment. Both DS and kelsey have tonsilitis. i have had some really tough nights and Dh is on nightwork....not around when things are really difficult. It is so hard juggling the kids when they are sick. Sometimes I have had to choose which one to pick up and cuddle first and leave the other one crying :crying: . And last night DS vomited in his bed at about 9pm. he didn't even sit up - all we heard was a choking gurgle sound and rushed in. Then he was fighting with us to try and sit him up and strip him off - sick everywhere - pillows, sheets, doona, kid, floor. UUURRGGHH. threw him in the shower crying which woke Kelsey. got him out with bits still stuck in his hair and smelling gross. Finally got them settled again and in bed by 11pm. Sorry about the long story.

tabby - :fingerscrossed: for you babe

B/f with toddler - I used a recliner chair and let DS sit in front of me while I fed Kelsey. It is easy when they are brand new as they aren't distracted by the toddler. I even used to get up and get a drink/snack for DS while b/feeding. It only gets harder when they are older. Like now if Kelsey sees or hears DS while she is feeding she loses interest and starts squealing and laughing for him to come and play.

I'm off to get some sleep while I can.

Sorry no more personals but  to everyone.

Crowded house was great (of course) but still feeling very discouraged about Caitlin. Just feel like we've got more than our share of hiccups but I know in the grand scheme of things we've been very blessed. Thanks for all your advice re: feeding........

cordelia ... :hugs: it will get better soon.

just a quick note as I've just got home from a weekend away and the car isn't unpacked yet.

josh's reflux played up again overnight friday night. he went to sleep at 10, woke at 2:30am, fed, but wouldn't go back to sleep til 5am! We were away at a conference and all in the same room, so my great dh gave up on josh at 4am and took him for a walk and then let him play in the meeting room for a while til he looked sleepy again. He only slept for 2 1/2 hours before waking again too! I took him to the doctor sat am to make sure it wasn't his ears. His ears are fine :) (first time in 5 weeks), so it must have been his reflux. So, he restarted zantac and I added mylanta for extra help ... then last night he slept through! First time in many months! 10pm til 7:15am when I woke him! I hope he does a repeat performance tonight.

Only problem is that I got home to find ants in his cot  and I'm not sure where they are getting in. So, he's currently asleep on our bedroom floor while I wait for dh to get home with the portacot. Looks like he's sharing our room again tonight!

What a quiet w/e or does that mean it has been a busy one for everyone?

Busy here- went to sydney yesterday to get my car- was trying to sell it at a dealers who totally ripped us off! Did not sell so we will keep trying locally. Bridget was great though with the travelling, we were gone from 10am til about 7:30pm- she really coped quite well, esp in the heat.

Korah- the secret santa sounds good.

Tabby- a/f come yet? Hope it stays away- how many rounds of clomid can you have?

Sounds like another storm is coming:rain: better go get the clothes off the line soon.

Talk soon:wave:

Hope you sort those ants out!

Mim: :fingerscrossed: the zantac has done the trick again and a good nights sleep for all.
We have the ants here too! they drive me insane and get anywhere there is any grain of food left.
Hope you find a solution to them and Josh can get back in his own bed.

liviesmum: Youll always get more if sell locally, better to advertise, might take little longer but well worth the extra $ ? hope you sell it soon for a good price.
I have the 2nd round here to take but then the GP has said off back to Ob for any more! argh so hope it works. Then again I need AF to start, still no sign of it coming, talk about mess with your head, at least if its coming, be now so can get on with the next round. :banghead:

Cordelia: :hugs: . Hope Caitlin starts eating well for you real soon.
What foods are you trying?

Flicka: both have tonsillitis! The poor loves and poor you xxx. Hope it settles soon for you.

Nothing much today, Katie's been a chatter box as usual, very interested today in everything. We have a shape-o and shes already trying to put the shapes in, succeeded a couple of times, just have to show her which hole, but she knows how to get them in there!
Lots of standing and letting go

Tabby, hope you are having an extra long cycle and the BFP really is here or bring on the AF so you can move on and concentrate on next month!

Liviesmum, hope the car sells soon and glad your trip to Sydney went well.

Flicka, hope everyone recovers quickly!

Mim, Glad the bad ears aren't back & when are we going to see pics from the Dedication day?

Watched Michael in the walker again today. He leans so far out to reach something that his feet leave the ground and then gravity helps pull him out. DH says he does the same thing in the bath seat! We are keeping a very close eye on him!

Korah, I'm in for Secret Santa too!

mim1
19-11-2007, 07:03 AM
well, i've finally changed my avatar! The new photo of josh was taken on the day of his dedication ... it's been a while since I changed the photo as the last one was him at age 7 weeks! As soon as I can find the time to sort out my photo website logon info and choose some pics I'll let you know that i've uploaded more. It won't be today, as I'm tutoring a friend today before her year 11 exam tomorrow.

josh slept thru again! ok, so only from 8pm til 5am! But, I definitely call that sleeping thru. Then he fell asleep at the end of the feed and didn't wake up til 7:40am. He's rather happy and full of energy this morning. I'm feeling much better too after a pretty good nights sleep.

Oh yeah and we changed his bedding and moved the cot out from the wall, killed a few ants along the skirting board and they're all gone now ... weird.

tabby ... I hope something happens asap. I remember the waiting being really difficult.

charis ... :yelclap: for standing!

sammy ... our exercauser/baby exerciser thing says that as soon as bub can put feet flat on the ground they can't use it. I'm thinking that josh is getting too big for it. He stands in it and then pushes and leans over the side. It is quite wide, so i'm not too worried about it tipping, but then it could. Maybe it's time to stop using the walker? What about getting a walker thing that he can walk behind, rather than being in it?

sorry for the long post ... better go eat breakfast.

SammyG
19-11-2007, 08:19 AM
Mim, love the new avatar! The walker is height adjustable so will just put it up a notch - somehow I don't think it will make much difference though as he leans out of everything, arms, chairs, walker - so it's probaby time the walker got passed on again!

What a beautiful boy Josh is Mim. Not surprisingly I wouldn't have recognised him at all from your last avatar! And 8-5 is definitely a sleep through. Very jealous.

Had enough excitement this morning to last me a while. Just had to file a dog attack report. All fine, just shaken. Were on our usual morning walk when a large boxer type dog came out of nowhere. Tried to keep calm and hope it was friendly and would just sniff us and leave but started attacking my dog and I had to let go of the lead to keep the scuffle away from Cameron & the pram and give Kuma a chance to run away/defend himself. I was screaming for help and a nearby resident (pregnant with 8 weeks to go) and some builders working nearby came to help scare off the other dog. Of course Kuma was terrified and did a runner but again some builders further down the road managed to grab his lead and return him to me. At least I know where the dog came from as one of the builders saw it's owner come out to retrieve it. I'm just so thankful that people were actually willing to help us as not much I could do on my own except keep Cameron out of the way. Here is a pic of my poor little dog on a less traumatic day: http://www4.snapfish.com.au/slideshow/AlbumID=146004437/PictureID=2703212051/a=80211814_80211814/t_=80211814
And while I'm doing pics here's one of C enjoying bath time a couple of weeks ago: http://www4.snapfish.com.au/slideshow/AlbumID=146004735/PictureID=2703215433/a=80211814_80211814/t_=80211814
and playing under the futon sofa: http://www4.snapfish.com.au/slideshow/AlbumID=146004735/PictureID=2703212876/a=80211814_80211814/t_=80211814

He's changed so much the last month. Even in fairly recent pics he looks like much more of a baby than he does now.

Gotta go, sounds like morning nap is over!

What a beautiful boy Josh is Mim!! And lovely photos too tired_mummy and Cat (lots of blonde hair too!) :)

I realised I haven't posted any of Caitlin for a long while so am uploading some as I type.

It's interesting re: the flat foot thing. Since Caitlin started Commando crawling (2 months ago) her left foot has been all twisted up and now even tho she's crawling properly and standing her left foot is still twisted up. So will speak to the nurse about that today I guess. She can straighten it when she's relaxed and not trying to move/balance/climb

have messaged you re: the secret santa thing Korah :) Is it just a card?

I think I already wrote that we had a wonderful time at the concert (wasting time while my photos upload!). I really missed Caitlin and here's some TMI, when we got home and went to bed I missed her so badly that I leaked some milk even tho I haven't breastfed in 4 months!! Freaky!

Hi Ladies,

I hope you all had a great weekend. I’ve had another busy one.

Mim – Love the pic of Josh. What a cutie.

Cat – What a morning you have had. So glad you, cam and kuma are ok.

Tired*mummy – Lovely pics of Sierra.

Cordelia – nice to hear you had a wonderful night. Regarding food, perservere with it, yeah i know its frustrating. You can always bring Caitlin out here for the day, I’m sure Talon will give her some good habits and maybe some bad habits. T loves his food.

Us – Dr went really well on Friday. I will be having bub at 38 weeks due to having another c section. Cleaned and cooked all day yesterday. I made mini quiches for lunch and i had to make 2 batches as 1 batch wasn’t enough in my household lol. Talon had a great day with food yesterday. For lunch he polished of 2 sandwiches with vegemite, 2 arrowroot biscuits, a cheesestick, yoghurt and 2 mini quiches. Boy were does he put it. T’s on cows milk for good now and no reactions here.:smiliedance:

Better go have some washing to hang out while my little man is asleep.
Take care

Mim: Josh is absolutely adorable!!!! Wonderful that another sleep through, 8-5 is great! Katies first sleep throughs were 8-4, eventually she dropped that 4am bottle so hopefully as he settles into the sleep throughs the 5 am will go too. :fingerscrossed:

Cat: Glad your all safe, been there the same situation but attacker was a rottweiler! very scary indeed and glad ppl actually came to help, its good to hear. what a beautiful dog and a gorgeous Cameron in the pics.

Tiredmummy: Sierra is really photogenic, absolutely cute as!

Cordelia: Love the santa hat pic hehe, cute!

Strawberry: oh not long now then! My goodness where does Talon put it yes!?! Thats a huge feed lol

Katie is a bit constipated now, cows milk?? Can I water it down a little?
Her first poo is really hard for 3 days now, after that she goes again later and its ok..

Sammy: Thanks! Still no AF so lets just hope baby is taking a bit to settle in :D hence the bfn, ill test again Friday if no AF.

No more cramps either, so no idea from 4dpo-12dpo cramps. :banghead: but some nausea on and off...maybe that just cos AF overdue and a bit upset..

Anyhow, will know sooner or later.
Sorry if missed anyones post xxx

oh if I could afford it I would poas daily lol

Strawberry, by 2 sandwiches do you mean 2 sandwhich quarters or a full 2 sandwiches ie 4 slices of bread??

Either way Cameron has a much smaller appetite which apparently I need to work on as just got back from the baby clinic and CHN is concerned that C is putting on weight so slowly - only 100g the last 2 months and weighs 7.7kg at 10months (73cm long). Keeping up with 50th percentile for head circ and length but now in the lowest percentile for weight. I'm not too worried myself because he's healthy and happy and I think he is just naturally lean but will try to see how if I can come up with some more KJ packed meals for him. It's not that he's overly fussy. He does eat quite a large variety of foods, he just doesn't eat that much of them. May have to give him some more snacks while he's playing.

Tabby - I just add a little prune juice into T's milk if he's constipated. That works for us.

Cat - 2 pieces of bread.

Hi there no major personals I feel wrecked. I did a casual day today and it was all good bar one yr 8 class who decided to give me greif so i had most of them back at lunch, then two little girlies decided they wanted the last say so it continued with them til I eventually won!! I love teaching but today was a nightmare, or at least that class anyways.:banghead:

Cute pics of your girls tired mummy, and of Caitlin too Cordelia. It is amazing how much they have grown.

Better go Bridget is out giving dh a hard time:wave:

Cheers! Will start doing that.

liviesmum: Sorry to hear such a bad day, hope your resting and feel better tomorrow xx :hugs:

Cat: Most of Katies weight gain until now has been milk, she also loves everything but didnt eat that much at each meal, until tonight! We went out till almost 6 walking at the river with DP and as it was later than usual she was starving, she ate about half a bowl ( about a mug full..) of chicken rice, and with such gusto, so have decided to postpone feeds until later than normal.
Might be something to try for you as well?

Oh and just remembered.. she ate a whole jam sandwich today, nothing left and lunch was late also as a late mid day nap instead of morning, so think am onto it

Josh slept through the night again :smiliedance::smiliedance: I'm so happy. He slept from 8:40pm til 5:40am. I knew it had to happen eventually, but my dh didn't sleep through til he went to school which wasn't a great encouragement for me. Even if it doesn't last I know that it can happen. I even slept for 5 hours straight without even stirring, which is a big novelty. I still have plenty of sleep to catch up on, but I feel closer to human than a couple of weeks ago.

food & milk ... Josh is dropping back to 3 - 4 milk feeds a day and he is really eating so much more solids. When we were away on the weekend I offered him solids 3 times a day (his usual amounts), but then also offered him bread and fruit pieces during our meals to keep him happy. I suspect that his increased food intake is helping with sleep too. Yesterday he ate a small tin of custard, 2 big jars of pureed fruit, 1 big slice of bread, 1 slice of french stick bread, & 4 pieces of watermelon. I'm so surprised that he eats watermelon, little seeds and all (it's the 'seedless' watermelon). In the last 2 weeks he's done so much better with spitting out bits of food he can't swallow and with swallowing more lumps of food.

tabby ... any AF/BFP news?

liviesmum ... it's near the end of the year, I know my class at school was always more ratty at the end of the year. I hope that you don't have such a bad day next time you fill in for a class.

cat ... i'm glad that no-one was injured in that dog attack. My little brother was bitten by a dog at 3 and it was really scary.

 Congrats Little Josh! Your growing up and sleeping through...thats very good! Now keep it up so mummy can feel human!

Tabby, i was just wondering about the bf because it can impede ttc. I hope you get your bfp soon :hugs: maybe it was ovulation or implanting cramping?

Well my weekend off was great! Tom was really good for his dad, although when i went to pick him up he cried and reached for his dad so then i cried and his dad looked a bit freaked out but then i got out my boob and it was`all good again!

His dad did say 'ange i can't do anything when he is here...i even had to put his high chair in the bathroom so i could have a shower...' Welcome to my world! I'm glad he now understands why i think getting the dishes done is a big achievement!

Tabby...:fingerscrossed:for you. You can water down Katies cows milk. I did for some time with DD1.

Caitlin is still not eating. Any suggestions?

If I give her food before her bottle (which she is loving) then she just refuses it. She just doesn't like eating. She's putting on weight but her colour is not so rosy anymore. She doesn't look very healthy :/
Hope Caitlin is eating better for you. It may be the change in weather that has killed her apetite, or she may just be in a growing lul at the moment. TJ's not been eating as much lately. My only suggestion is to try variety, and little more often.

Oh and STANDING today. Cot of course, outside holding onto a v big bucket, oh gosh! He strong little arms after all that commando too. Ecck for Michael!!!!! Houdini
I decided to put H down sans clothes and nappy before brekky. Don't tell me toilet training it all gets worse before it gets better...but pulling it apart, I really think that is a 10mth thing ONLY.
MouseBrown great great holiday time for you all. V special for all of you. Am sure its old news to you, but did read about ERG and Sydney last week, wasn't sounding great, but am sure there is a much bigger story to what was reported. Hope you're still on San Fran.

:smiliedance:for H standing
LOL at the poo episode
Didn't hear about ERG, but the media usually blows a tiny thing out of proportion.

:hugs:for all the sick bubs at the moment

TJ slept 7-4.50 last night. She's crawling on her knees and can now sit from crawing. She's continually standing up on the furniture and walking when held up.

Ony a couple more days here, then we have to face the long flight again.

:wizard:this one's for DD1. Keep well,
Lisa

Hi everyone,

yes i've been tardy at posting...again...had a full on couple of weeks including a bout of gastro and then a head cold that's only just going. About 3 of us from our mothers' group got gastro after our meet a couple of weeks ago and then passed it on to our DHs but luckily none of the bubs got it. My mum was staying for the weekend and got it on Sunday night, then ended up staying until Friday which was a bit full on. Anyway, she found a house near us and is going to move back just before christmas. She'll still be working full time but hopefully it will mean some more babysitting for us!

Well it sounds like all the bubs are definitely on the move! Hamish certainly is, just starting to do more free balancing and lots of cruising. He's really into books at the moment and wants the same ones 'read' over and over. Its really cute. He copies my animal noises - the elephant is very funny! (mine and his)

Its interesting to read about various food intakes. Hamish doesn't really eat much either but does eat well so I've decided not to worry. The CHN indicated I should try to get him to eat more but Ngala said not to worry until after 12 months as they still get most nutrition from the milk. Cordelia Caitlin certainly looks pretty healthy to me from those photos, I love the one with the pink ribbon with her dad - they have the same mouth!

oh yes, I forgot, CONGRATULATIONS ARIES!! wow, I still can't imagine having two of the little monsters running around..hee hee...I love the idea of them being so close in age and good mates in the future.
Yay to Charis and Mim and any others having sleep success. Its SO good isn't it??? I'm really getting used to it but had a 3.30am wake this morning and eventually gave in and BF at 4.45am. Usually Hamish is sleeping 7 or 7.30pm to about 5am then again until about 7/7.30am.

Sorry about the long post. Hamish has gone for his morning sleep so I should be doing the washing, having a shower, cleaning up.....but had to have a coffee and net fix first.

Happy days everyone, I can't believe the first birthdays are coming up already! And the first christmas - double whammy.

freddie: Sorry to hear youve all been unwell but glad its all over. yes very lucky none of the bubs got it. LOL @ the elephant noises, cant wait to all meet up again xmas meet, they have all changed and grown so quickly of late.

Mouse: Thanks, I started doing it anyway after I posted, figure wouldnt harm..., it worked this morning, still a little strained but no where near as bad.
Going to grab some prune juice for emergency though.
Happy flight home xxx

Acacia: Mouse is right on the nose there, most men dont even realise it even when they live with you, I can say though that this time round Ive been very lucky, DP knows and understands..Thats why Im hanging on to this one lol
Hopefully now youll get some better understanding from him

Mim: WONDERFUL NEWS!!! So so happy for you, a few more days of that and youll feel just like your old self again.

Still no AF! I want to test so bad but am trying not to waste the $.
No cramps, no symptoms..nothing..very odd.
Anyhow Ill test again friday if no AF. :D

Nothing much here, Katies still much happier now she can sit and crawl and sit again. Just started pulling her self up on the lounge and rarely topples over now, less scary now lol

hi all
it has been a while since i have actually written something here - sorry that I have not been in touch!!
well, we are in the midst of planning 1st b'day party and my DSS is 9 years old on 30 Nov, so we are having a combined family and friends party for 1st & 9th b'day's on 1 Dec and we are also doing a friends party for DSS. we are going to Hungry Jacks and Laserforce, so that will be great and no cleaning up at home!!!
I am also now 16 weeks pregnant and had my second appt at hospy today, I am really wanting a totally diff experience to last time, I felt like the 'medical intervention' took over...

hi kewlchicmum and welcome to jan mums!
tabby - good luck with the test :fingerscrossed:
as for food - Geoffrey eats really well; one whole banana with one vita brit for breakfast, fruit for lunch and mixed vegies for dinner and then 3-4 milk bottles, we are on solely cows milk now. he still wakes up at night and has a milk - sometimes will sleep for 7-8 hrs and have a bottle and go back to sleep for 3-4 hrs, so that's ok.

Acacia: Thanks. Still not here so looking good.

Us: AF still not here and woke this morning feeling like ive been run over by a bus! Luckily when Katie woke at 630am I gave her a 100mil bottle and she went back to sleep till almost 9! I still feel like utter cr@p! I swear I have never felt so BLAH, well maybe my younger days when hungover would be a close resemblance to how I feel right now.

:nono: Stay away AF for Tabby!

Me, I got a strange 'losing my tummy feeling' last night and now I'm petrified. The only two times I have had this earth moving experience is when I've been PG. Looked up the diary and it's 6days till AF due (roughly the same time I felt it with each of the boys) Maybe I've been crossing everything too much for you Tabby.

Jacstar, glad your pg is going well.

Kewlchicmum, welcome! What's your little guys birthdate?

Wow Sammy- How freaky!! Keep us posted.

Tabby- whats going on with that A/F? I cant wait til friday!

MIM- What a little  sleeping through like that now- maybe the illness a few weeks ago put all in the right alignment!

Jacstar- was wondering how all was going- time really does fly- I will be 25 weeks tomorrow!

Kewlchicmum- feel like I am familiar with your name- are you sure we have not seen you around? Welcome anyhow!:shakehands:

Pretty busy last few days- got over my very tiring Monday, but it has all been pretty full on since- have not had time to get on to the computer.

Been getting some fierce cramps in my legs and feet. Dr tomorrow so will ask him waht to do. Oh and I actually booked into hospital- 13th December is my appointment.

Bridget is well, not far off walking I think, she really gets around at some speed now and so confidently too- taking a few risks here and there.

Dh and DD1 are putting up xmas lights outside- we always get into the spirit of things and do up our house. Will post a picture of it when finished.:xmastree:

Anyways will get going, chat soon.

There are some seriously strange smilies now ...

:noel:

:bee:

:hissy:

:nono:

Sorry, just had to do that! Unfortunately I assume we're still limited to 4 smilies per post (what is with that by the way??!!), so I can't add any more.

Josh didn't sleep thru last night, but close enough. He's been pretty grumpy today but I've noticed that in the last two days the top two teeth that were nearly thru have now come thru the gum, so that might explain the grumpiness. That and the fact that he seems very hungry every time I offer him food, so I think I need to feed him solids more often.

We went and got pixifotos done today. $5 for the sitting and a 10x13" print. Not bad. Unfortunately the 'gift print' is from a batch at the start of the session and my favourite photo was later in the session. There was no way I was paying $125 for a 10x13" print! Their prices are ridiculous! It did give me some ideas for photo shoots at home though.

kewlchic ... I'm mim and Josh is 10 months old. He's my first and only child and I'm not pregnant or planning #2 for a while. I'm not planning on TTCing for at least a year, maybe 2. I feel like I'm the only one though with so many women on this thread are pregnant or TTCing.

Hi everyone,

Tabby - Hope AF stays away!
Sammy - Wow... hope you get the result you want.
Kewlchicmum Welcome...
Acacia & Mim - I'm making sure i never get pregnant again either  Had my fair share lol.

Us - Sierra is about to get her 4th tooth. I can see the start of it but it hasnt cut yet. She is walking along everything she can stand up against. She stands up on DD1 little chair & pushes it along to floor so she can walk. She is starting to let go whe she is standing too, so i dont think it will be too long before she starts to let go & take a few steps. DD1 started walking at 10 1/2 months, so i'm preparing myself. Not much else happening, enjoying the cooler weather though. Still havent heard from our landlord about the air con but i think he might be stalling for some reason. Havent heard anything from when the valuer was over last week. I'm expecting the worst but i spose we will wait & see.
DD1 & 2 have kinder today... cant wait for the peace lol. But they only have another 8 kinder sessions before they finish for the year so i'm going to try & enjoy them as much as possible

tiredmummy ... enjoy your peace & quiet

acacia & tiredmummy ... glad I'm not alone :)

Josh didn't sleep well again last night :hair: waking twice with hysterical crying. The first time was at 11pm and dh and I could not settle him. He was sobbing and sobbing. I think it was reflux, but it's so hard to see him so distressed. I ended up offering him milk and he took one side and fed himself to sleep. He's 10 months old now, I really hope this stops soon! And I mean really soon cause for the first time I'm home alone with Josh for 3 days starting tomorrow morning. Dh is going away for work and we were going with him, but we've not recovered from going away last weekend, so I decided to stay home. I'm a little nervous, but hopefully it will be ok. I just get SO frustrated and upset with Josh when I'm overtired and he's grizzly.

Josh is at mums for 6 or 8 hours today, so I should go and make the most of it, doing stuff this morning, then catching up on sleep this afternoon

Tabby – Any sign of AF yet????

Jacstar – I was wondering how your pregnancy was going. All the best darl.

Liviesmum – WOW your 25 weeks pregnant already!!! Gee time flies.

Sammy – Wow maybe another preggie mum from our jan thread.... Keep us posted.

Us – Not much to report here. Had a lazy day yesterday. We all enjoyed sitting in the spa for about an hour yesterday afternoon. Hubby decided to cook dinner so that was even better, not getting up and doing it. Not much to do today, just going to hang out some washing and chillin out.

Just some quick :hugs: for Mim.

I can sympathise. C has some great nights (last night he slept 7.30-6 with one or two cryouts during the night but no settling required) and some not so-great ones (night before last, woke with screaming at 2am and was after 4 by the time we were both back asleep). When CHN asked how he sleeps I said 'not bad' but when she asked me to elaborate she thought I was being far too patient. She suggested when C wakes up and cries out, leave him to see if he settles (which I already do) but if still going after a few mins just yell out "go to sleep" so he knows we are nearby....um yeah. That is so not going to work once he is fully awake & crying!!

I've been on my own this week too with DH away for work so I know how tough it can be.

Hi-ya Kewlchic. Check the Perth Christmas meet thread. It's at my house this time. We would all love to meet you. Will PM people with specific when I get home.

Been getting some fierce cramps in my legs and feet. Dr tomorrow so will ask him waht to do. Oh and I actually booked into hospital- 13th December is my appointment.
Raspberry leaf tea should help with the cramps.

I feel like I'm the only one though with so many women on this thread are pregnant or TTCing.
Nope, that's it for me;). I've been giving things away as fast as TJ grows out of them. And if I can't convince DH to go for the snip, I'll have to go under the knife again.

Tabby...hope no sign of AF.

ONly two more sleeps and we head home again. DD1 has had enough and has become a real pain over the past couple of days. TJ :barf:in her bed night before last. We've got DH's 94 YO grandmother here at the moment. It's great to see the girls interacting with her.

TJ's been singing Twinkle Twinkle for the past couple of weeks, and we've got the Ta thing happening.

Have just figured out this is foot-in-mouth:footinmouth:, took me a while.

Have better go,

Cat: LOL the CHN's make me laugh sometimes especially with advice like that. NOt like hes 3 and going to understand your yelling out, If I tried that here Katie would be more determined to get me in there if heard me.
Hope both you and Mim can get some regular nights real soon, Mim you cant be too far off, you seem to be getting more better nights of late, so hopefully just a one off. Not something he ate was it? :hugs:

Hi Mouse, Glad the holidays going well, aww with great grandma! How lucky they are to still have her around...and want to be there...yes BITTER old great nanna here never cared so never even saw Katie. But Bet your ready to come home yer? hehe

Strawberry: Glad to hear your relaxing more, You deserve it after all that travel and moving in AND pregnant. Hope you have a lovely day xxx

Tiredmummy: You too! Hope you enjoy your peaceful day, make sure theres some relaxation in there wont you.

liviesmum: yay for finally booking in hehe.
Goodness, sounds like there will be a few walkers from here by first birthdays.
Hope the doc can help you with the cramps, sounds painful :hugs:
I dont think Katie will be, then again ya never know. Personally Ill be happy when she does, you can see her frustration at wanting to get going but too wobbly just yet and I think she will be easier amused once on her feet.

STILL NO AF!!! and again no sign shes coming any time soon. no cramps. nothing. The tiredness of yesterday had me in bed by 830! I zonked until 630, then dozed till Katie woke at 8
Feel heaps better.
One thing thats really odd is the feeling of restlessness Ive had for about a week now, bored titless! even thoughts of moving house..what the?...I was more than happy here a month ago lol.

next pregnancy: I feel like i haven't gotten over the emotional turmoil of my first bub!! Was thinking of TTC at the end of this year but we realised that it IS the end of this year already! So will have a further postponement :P

mouse: singing twinkle twinkle!! HOW? That's amazing!!

Caitlin kind of moans along to my singing and when she hears music (on the radio) The other day there was a woman on triple j (dont ask me why i had it on) singing about bumming a cigarette and was going "bum bum bum" and then next thing I hear a "BUM BUM" from the backseat!

mim: I really hope that Josh sleeps well for you. I know EXACTLY what you mean about frustration. Especially when you get up in the morning having had no sleep and feeling so negative towards your bub. It's not a good way to start the day. That's me anyway.

Pixie fotos - we were fortunate enough to go digital so you can see what yuo're getting. We still spent an extra $240 for extra photos for us and family.

Anyway Caitlin is ELEVEN MONTHS tomorrow!!!!!!!!!! Incredible. I'll have to fish that birthday list of our bubs that I did at the start of the year so we can keep track of all our babies 1st birthdays.

cordelia ... you're funny about TTCing :) The pixifoto studio was digital too, but I just kept thinking about how easy it would be to do that stuff myself, albeit with photos I took myself that I couldn't justify spending any money. I've got another sitting next week at the Myer photo place and I'll do the same thing then I think - gift portrait only.

thanks for your comments about josh. It could be the cheese in his meal 2 nights ago that has upset him, I hope that's all. He's just had a sleep for nearly 2 hours at mum's house, so hopefully he'll be a bit happier later today when he gets home.

I think quite a few of these bubs will be walking by the age of 1. I'm amazed at how quickly babies can develop all of a sudden. Josh is pressing the tiny levers inside his drop & roar dinosaur thing because he's realised they make the music play and the lights flash. He's only done it for the last 2 days, and he's also picking the whole thing up (it's big) and trying to get his head inside it to look at how it works. Babies are so funny sometimes.

I bought a :reindeer: teddy (couldn't resist the smilie) for Josh this morning to use in our next photo shoot ... dh thinks I'm nuts about doing christmas themed photos (I think he thinks they are a bit tacky, but I think tacky is cute for babies). I've got a singlet/nappy cover rudolf set from BigW and a Santa suit & hat from The Reject shop.

Hi there how is all today. Having a storm atm. the thunder and lightening have been going for a while and have had a nice drenching of rain:rain:, good too see, considering we have been drought ridden for so long.

Cordelia- how funny about the bum bum song- shocking but ever so cute! 11 months already- wow.

Tabby- :fingerscrossed: for you still that a/f is on holidays for the next 10 months!!

Mouse- thanks for the rsapberry leaf tea hint, was thinking of investing in some soon- Dr says keep myself hydrated.

Mim- Hope josh settles again for you. We have nights Bridget will sleep through in own bed all night (like last night), and some or most she just wont.

Strawberry- wow 7 weeks to go for you too! time has just gone by so quickly. Hope you have settled in and ready for this bub to enter the world- I am freaking out- someone said to me today- 'bet you cant wait til its over' and i was like 'no, it can stay in there as long as it wants- so not ready for it!!' Ha ha.

Went to Dr today. I have to have another scan right after xmas as i go away on the 29th dec to check placenta- see if it has grown upwards. hopefully it has otherwise will be looking a c-section.

Bridget slept in her own bed last night all night til 7:30 am:thumbsup: Lets hope this continues- chances are it wont.

hope all are well, talk soon.

7 weeks til we have a new baby in our midst? Wow! I'm looking forward to the birth of your new addition Strawberry & liviesmum

tabby ... tell us as soon you test tomorrow morning, I can't wait to hear!

I'm feeling a bit :gloomy: at the moment. Mum took Josh to get his ears checked and the fluid has built up again. He hasn't got a cold or any sort of infection, just a fluid build up. It confirms my fears that his ears would be a chronic problem and it is due to a eustachian (sp?) tube that is not pointing the right direction to drain the middle ear. It will improve at some point in the future, but he could be 7 like my brother was. :( So, at least it's not his reflux, but he is back on demazin and nurofen for the night time, but I don't hold out much hope that it will mean a good nights sleep - they didn't make a lot of difference last time.

Sorry for the whinge. One of my biggest fears of having children, especially given the fact that I have to return to full time work, was that they would have a chronic health problem. Josh had/has reflux, but he will grow out of it completely in a couple of months, so it wasn't such an issue. The potential of disturbed sleep for weeks on end multiple times a year as well as the potential for surgery, is pretty daunting.

Hiya hiya!! Had to get on, not just to check out the smilies and send special flowers to Tabby :flowerz: For no good reason, though hope you know either way!!!! And that will be a relief. I was on the other side of the river from you all yesterday (and WAVED of course), rode up past the Police aerodrome+houses just across the river. Great fun on the bike!!

Also SammyG, golly, and wow and maybe and what an earth shattering/rejoicing feeling and thought too.Wonderful! Of course all of that still counts even if its not a BFP, but am sure the thought it might have been makes it all so much more a part of your lifes. I hope that makes sense :sunshine:

Have actually had a tummy clutching, dropping out feeling here, but due to a bad case of the 'runs'. Had to put H down, mid feed and rush to the loo!! Ok now, not sure what its about!

Mim1, no good about Josh's ears, you poor thing + him too. Your bro's experience at least equips you with knowing the surgical path. :fingerscrossed:It wont need to get to this.

StrawbS'cake how wonderful to meet you soon and little/big Talon. And to wish you well for the next few precious weeks. How amazing!!

KewlchickMum, great to see you on here too and welcome. Be great to meet you and L too! Hunter is 10.5months and crawling/pulling up on everything, loves to follow the cat and exclaim to it, just before trying to touch her.

Acacia, loved your description of Tom's Dad talking about their weekend. Great for him to know what its really about!! Yes, wish mine did. I think 40mins is about the record. But that will change. Good on you!

He he he and had to have a giggle about the CHN too Cat13. I have certainly yelled 'go to sleep', but never at night, well maybe in the 'ole' days after he was awake an hour or something, no that one is saved for being v v v frazzled during the day, of course it doesn't work :hissy: do love the loud 'shshshshsh' that really does work at night, hey. But am joining the hallowed hall of happy sleepers..oh yes yes yes, at least the last four nights of sleeping 7.30-5.30 and then back to sleep after feed till 8.30. That is actually so late it is mucking up my mornings. whinge whinge, kidding! But his day sleeps were not at all great. Will stick to the old time of 7/7.30.

Great to hear from Jacstar very soon Geoffrey's birthday!!! also wonderful reading that Bridget is happy in her own bed too LiviesMum.

Great end of holiday and return to you Mouse Brown!

Well besides the great night sleeps, terrible day ones today, and all day pulling up on everything all is good. H is getting proficient at groping and have a barrier to other boob while feeding, he eh. Oh and we did go to the zoo yesterday!!! He really was interested in the big fire hose reels and the seagulls.. oh and definitely saw one of the wonderful elephants, but my elephant impersonations since have just put him into giggles.! xx night

Ill say this first to put both myself and anyone out of their misery of waiting, sadly a BFN.
I was so sure it would be a bfp, bad enough no AF but have to have symptoms as well!
Anyhoo! Come on AF so can get on with next round of clomid, a awesome xmas pressie :fingerscrossed:
no damn idea why AF so late :(

Charis: lol am glad Hunter liked the hosereels and seagulls at the zoo  Wonderful to hear your also getting such great nights.
Our days arent so great yesterday and day before..I think teething though, more dribbles and she always becomes hard to get down to day nap when teething.

Mim: :hugs:. Hope your feeling better today hun.

liviesmum: fingers crossed for you when your scan is due that placenta is where it should be.

cordelia: I so had to laugh loudly when I read your hearing bum bum from the back seat. hehehe . happy 11 months xx

Tabby and Sammy - :hugs::hugs:to you both.

i had major braxton hicks last night. It was that bad i was in tears. I couldn't sleep in my own bed so i went and slept on the futon. It also didn't help that it was a very warm night in Perth. Never mind will be taking things easy today.

I don't remember BH contractions being that painful. Did you have painful BH's last pregnancy strawberry?

Tabby & Sammy ... :hugs: I hope AF arrives or you get a :bfp: soon.

We had another horrid night, with Josh waking 3 times, the 11:30pm time was the worst with absolute hysteria. DH & I could not get him to stop sobbing or thrasing/crawling/moving around until I fed him. It wasn't simple hunger though and he'd had nurofen/panadol/demazin, so there was nothing else I could do. BUT, he did go to sleep after a little bit of milk, so tonight if it happens again I'll just feed him sooner than 10 minutes. I'm still going to struggle without DH this weekend.

sorry hun! hugs for you too.. So now that the thought was a good thing will you actively ttc?

Fortel, I dont like them all that much as they have a evap line which can be confusing for a faint bfp, but I dont take it as a yes unless its quite clearly pink and not white/silver. There wasnt even a evap line today though. Cheap at 3 for $8 so not wasting a lot lol.
I really think AF is just being a cow, really hope im not late due to starting menopause!!! thats what mum said today :(
Wonder if there is a blood test can get taken to see?....least that way can get past it now rather than later and not hold onto the hope.
Am really hoping its not but if it is then so be it, have 3 wonderful children and I will get over it. After all I have been very blessed with DP and Katie at this time in my life.

strawberry: Mine were that bad weeks before Katie came..Have heard the more babies you have the worse they can feel too, never felt any ds1, only a bit ds2 and REALLY bad with Katie, the lesser gap between may also make them stronger have heard, so rest up hun and take it easy today xx

Mim: thanks :hugs:. Sorry to hear of such a bad night, :fingerscrossed: for you that Josh is feeling better for the w.e for you and AFTER!

hi! my trip was not much fun! she screamed all the way from home to the next town, so much that nearly made herself sick. As soon as we stopped, she smiled and was fine, laugung and playing peekaboo in kfc. Maybe multiple personality?!! its not often that i get cross at her-but i do in the car! she then fell asleep for the rest of the way. on the way back not to bad-think i have to never going away or only travelling at sleep time.

The other day I got Tayahs tea whie she was there, but it was a bit hot so i put it on the sink and we went in the lounge. She played for a minute with me, grizzled and crawled out the lounge i followed her and she had crawled into the kitchen and was standng at the sink where her tea was. It was so cute! she must have been hungry.

Hi all, hows things today. Not so bad here. Really tired for some reason but I need to be up and at it with children running around.

:hugs: To Tabby and Sammy for the bfn. Tabby :fingerscrossed: it is not menopause and a/f will return soon so you can get busy again in December!!

Strawberrry- Ouch on the B/h front. :iagree: with Tabby about them getting strongter each bub. I had them with DD1 but much stronger with dd2, and must admit i had a few strong ones yesterday and only 25 weeks- so god knows whats in store for the next 15!!

lovemyprincess: bummer about the car trip- nothing worse when you are trying to concentrate on the road.

MIM- Sorry to hear about Josh's ears, that on top of the reflux puts added stress to the raising of little ones.

Charis- Hope Hunter continues his wonderful sleep patterns. Just when we think we have it made here, Bridget throws a spanner in the works.

Pretty busy in the street today. There is a garage sale across the road. They have a tandom pram for sale, looks in good condition and everything but it is like a big Mac Truck. It is so long- I really hate how long it is but will probably need something like that. I told them I would think about it. How much should I pay for it? They said $200 or make an offer. I dont want to pay $200 but what is reasonable?

I should get on ebay and check what they are going for on there.

Better go, hope you all have a good day- Chat soon.

mim1

liviesmum ... depends on the brand of pram I suppose. $150 would be a bargain I think as long as it's decent.

Josh & I survived the night, with only 1 feed overnight and we were both only up for 25 minutes. Great night really. He's happily chatting away in his highchair at the moment, intermittently chewing a rusk.

I've finally uploaded some pics. I've posted in the baby pics section, but I thought I'd post here too:

Here is the link to the album of Joshua - 0 - 5 months:

Then, Joshua - 6 - 9 months, which includes some of his Dedication:
http://s133.photobucket.com/albums/q56/mim1_photos/Joshua%20-%206%20-%209%20months/

Finally, Joshua - 10 - 12 months, which only has 2 photos in it at the moment, but I'll add more in here in coming months:
http://s133.photobucket.com/albums/q56/mim1_photos/Joshua%20-%2010%20-%2012%20months/

Mim: Glad you got another good night. A better sleep does make all the difference doesnt it. Katie sleeps well nights but her day naps can be all over the place and if she doesnt sleep well her mood is not pleasant to say the least lol, bit like her Mum
beautiful pics! Hes cute as

liviesmum: Thanks :hugs:, have spoken to a couple of Mums on the over 40 thread were I also regular and I dont think it is mp from what theyve said. Still no AF, if wasnt for the neg I would sewar I was, am now bloated as! plus nauseas at times. *shrugs*
Not sure on the $ for pram, yes I would say check out ebay to see.
Hope you manage a rest some time today xx

kewlchic. MouseBrown also here Perth has a FIFO other half. Yous already know each other on bubhub?

lovemyprincess: Yes we also limit our travels to as little as possible, Katies longest is about 20 mins before she starts letting be known shes bored and wants out. Traveling to iL's a hr away is usualy not fun, lately though we have timed for sleep time so has been okay.
DS1 was the best! Sleep by the time got out driveway and woke when you stopped at destination lol.

Happy weekend all

Hi there- just a quickie!!

Went down to baby world today and she did warn me against tandom prams and toddler seats because of the uneven distributuion of weight- esp as Bridget gets bigger and heavier. She did recommend twin pram- Just wondering Strawberry- what have you decided on?

And please excuse my stupidness kewlchic- whats FIFO?

Liviesmum - Hubby and I decided on the Phil and Ted sports buggy. Its great i didn't want a traditional type double stroller, personally to big for me. The phil and Ted is no bigger than a regular jogging stroller The steering is easy, a quick simple fold, and light weight. We love our phil and ted and so does Talon:)

Happy weekends to everyone!

We have had a hectic week, a cake to make, two Birthday parties, two bbqs plus the usual kiddy activities, housecleaning and cooking!

Tabby, I waver all the time about TTC now or not! Yesterday I was sure I wanted to start in the next month or so, last night I had a panic attack about coping with 3 under 4. AF is due to arrive today, my face has broken out so am pretty sure it's on it's way. That funny feeling I had must have been exhaustion.

Here's the Thunderbird 2 cake I made this week for my BF's little boys 5th Birthday Party. It was quite a challenge!

http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q161/scrappysamg/Bub%20Hub/Thunderbird2.jpg

Liviesmum, I have a valco with a toddler seat on front, it is quite heavy with both boys but Ben is 3 and weighs about 16kg, M weighs over 9kg I think. I still like it though - great for shoppin.

Mim, glad you guys are coping on your own and Josh is absolutely adorable - watch out girls!

Sorry no more personals, I'm shattered and off for a rest!

Thanks for some pram hints- i will check out the one you mentioned Strawberry- never heard of that one before!

Going to put the :xmastree: up today- DD1 is driving me nuts over it. Was going to do it next w/e but will have visitors on the saturday and thinking of going to Sydney to see my cousin on the sunday.

Nice day today and I have been stuck cleaning this am and writing year 7 reports over lunch- thankgoodness Bridget is sleeping soundly- for the moment anyway!

Better go- Chow.

Wow, sammy that cake is amazing!!! Is it all from the hard icing stuff like you ice fruit cakes with? (can't remember the name of it). I'm doing josh's 1st birthday cake and seeking inspiration at the moment.

Josh didn't do so well last night, waking up 5 times. I had planned on going to church and then a family lunch today, so I was disappointed. Then, I decided to just go ahead as planned and I'm glad I did. We had a great day and Josh was so exhausted that he slept on the way to lunch (1/2 hour) and on the way home he was so sound asleep that he stayed asleep when we got home and had a total of 1 1/2 hours sleep. He's now playing in his playpen quite happily. My aunt is an audiologist and I asked her about fluid in ears and hearing loss and she said they lose volume & low sounds (I had hoped it was high sounds cause I've noticed he picks them up ok). Unfortunately she watched him for a while today and said that she thinks his hearing is not great. :(

Ooohh! dh is home! :smiliedance: Betta go!

:hugs: tabby about AF ... hope you find an Ob soon to help with clomid, etc

Mim, glad DH is back! What sort of surgery would Josh have if he needed it? I know loads of people that have had grommets done with great success.

I use Orchard rolled fondant for most of the cake (2 packets from Coles) I use a specialty hard setting fondant for the trickier bits like the wings, fins, grass & palm tree. Seriously, it's really just like playing with playdoh!

Tabby, everything on the cake was edible except two pieces of dowell holding up the ramp which was rolled fondant on top of cardboard for stability. There was also a wire in the palm tree and both jet flames. Glad AF arrived - at least we all know where you're at again - we are all with you remember! :hugs:

Glad you all liked the cake! :D

Hi everyone,

woooooooooooooooooooooooww so much has happened since I have last been on...

More pregnancies- well done aries..

...crawling.. well done cameron..

...and :yelclap: for hunter..

Alexander has been clapping now for about 6 weeks but is only crawling a little bit.. he tends to crawl (only a few movements), roll or slide along the floor and then sit up.. that seems to be the way he gets anywhere.. he now does the twinkle action to twinkle twinkle and waves to people. He is such a little star... i'm a proud mummy but I think they all grow too fast..

:fingerscrossed: tabby for everything with clomid and dr etc..:hugs:

not much happening here but i had a bit of a surprise this morning :bfp: .. !!!!!!!

I just took the test on a whim and never expected that it would be positive.. i was VERY surprised..

I am very excited but still so surprised. I even tested again tonight as I was sure it was not real... dh is happy but just as surprised.

Dontcha just looooorve these new smilies.. this my fav and looks just like Alex when he is cranky:hissy:..
