since DS has started rolling, he keeps ending up on his tummy with his wrap undone and often over his head. He doesn't sleep without being wrapped because his hands go wild and take his dummy out. What to do? I've been looking at sleep positioners and the safe T sleep, I don't want to spend much money on something that won't get much use. I do remeber this stage with DD and it lasted quite a while, so I guess if it is good, it would be used for a while and then for future babies. Any advice?

You can make one yourself really easily !

Just roll up some towels & use a piece of material to hold them together. Does that make sense :o . Otherwise you can get them really cheap off Ebay.

Squeak is a tummy sleep due to reflux so ive been teaching him to sleep without being wrapped which so far so good. Have you tried it, i understand he takes his dummy out but he may get used to it iykwim.

thanks Ally, might give that a go. How do you go about teaching him to sleep unwrapped? Eden just gets frantic as soon as he gets his hands out, I'd love to be done with the wrap though:rolleyes:

I did it where i wrapped him like normal then would loosen it through the nite.

Went from wrapping his hands down to hands up then keeping it looser & looser each nite.

We currently still wrap his torso so he thinks he is wrapped but he isnt.

Hopefully no wrapping soon !

Its hard though i know it took a bit with Boof to get him out of the habit ... Drove me insane in the process lol. Luckily Squeak is more easy going !

thanks.....I might give it a go. I'm scared though, because of the dreaded 'overtiredness' thing that might result if he doesn't end up sleeping

Oh i know what you mean !

Maybe try it & see how it goes for a couple of days but if it doesnt work then go back to wrapping him & use the towels to stop him from getting onto his tummy.

It would be nice if things were easy & there was a manual wouldnt it !

I think I might try the towels thing tonight. My only concern is the SIDs risk, would it increase it?
I tried yesterday afternoon to put him in unwrapped, he was soo tired but refused to sleep:rolleyes:

I'm so sick of this, he is sick today and so am I. The only way I can get him to sleep is wrapped and strapped into his rocker, but DD who is not sick, keeps waking him up:hair:

Oh i know the feeling of having a toddler keeping the bub awake !

I wouldnt try changing things while he is sick once he starts feeling better maybe give it a go.

The SIDS risk wont be increased as long as you have it set up the way the Safe T Sleepers are cause it will mean he cant roll.

oh, thanks for that, I was actually looking at safe T sleepers on Ebay. So, is it 2 rolled up towels under the fitted sheet?

I used two rolled up hand towels then using an old bassinette sheet i wrapped them so that there is the piece in the middle so the towels couldnt move.

I know that mignt not make sense but if you look at what they are you should understand a little better.

This then sat on top of the fitted sheet with Boof in it.
