Hi
My DD is also 14weeks old, born the 17th nov. I don't think she recognises her name yet either. If we say her name a few times she will look, but she very rarely looks the first time we say it.
My DS, who is almost 3, seemed to be recognising his name from about 2mths old...he would look at us and smile the first time we said it, not the 3rd or 4th like DD.
I guess, like everything else with bubs, they do things when they are ready. My DD still hasn't rolled over, either way, probably coz DS keeps her entertained she has no need to roll over :) Alot of other bubs I know of around her hage have been rolling for weeks...

DS started early with that but sometimes he wont look when you say his name but its the same with mummy and nanna. He's known those 2 since he was 3 months but sometimes he just looks the opposite way when you says wheres mummy or wheres nanna.

Elysha seems to recognise hers cause when I say it will open eyes and look at you when holding her though sometimes she wont react if calling her from a distance - i think she chooses to ignore it? LOL

I don't know if Chanel recognises her name or not (she's 7 months)...I like to believe she does...but that could just be wishful thinking. She looks at me if I call it (providing she's not intent on injuring the cat, or watching tv or whatever), but then she'll look at me if I say just about anything. She's in love with me (I'm her fave person! lol).

I actually think she thinks her name is "Pig". My mother thinks it's such a mean nickname...but it's not...I say it because I love her. She is such a fatty, and was born a fatty...and we just called her "the pig" from day one. So there's all sorts of variations of pig (like "Piggly Wig" which is short for "Piggly Wiggly" or "Piggy" or whatever) that we call her.

I love that she's a fatty...and I call her pig in a loving way...we're actually hoping her first word will be "pig" - coz that will be funny.

But yeah, back on track...I don't know when babies recognise their names...but a book I have suggests they should by 10 months (or thereabout).

tyler started to recongnise her name at about 4months,,, i think she knew it before then cause you would say her name and she would look at you from the corner of her eyes,,,, she still is a bit of a snob...lol
