HI everyone who has ever tackled weight loss which i am sure is most people, anyway i am about to try taking reductil tablets which are prescribed by my dr and they suppress your appetite and are supposed to speed up your metabolism. i am wondering only from those that have tried these how much weight you lost and in what time frame + what you thought of them.

I have tried something similar to that a while ago.
Heres what I found:
Day one: Amazing it was like my brain was some how totally switched onto another channel or something. I felt sooooo happy like I was on a high, I also had no appetite and had to force myself to eat something, it was fab, I felt great:smiliedance:
Day Two: because these things are so strong my doc reccomended I only take one every second day. So I didnt have one on day two.............:banghead:
I felt like crap, it was like coming down off a bad drug. I felt really angry and my appetite was back 110% It was horrible.
I took them for one week in total and lost 4kg BUT the side effect made me stop very quickly coz I was so angry when I wasnt on them it scared me, I never did anything bad I just felt this rage building inside me it was BAD.
Side effects:
They made me happy then angry Huge mood swings
I couldnt sleep at all
My advice: be very very careful you might think its safe coz your doc prescribed them but they can be very very dangerous.
That said a friend of mine was on the same thing as me and lost 25kg in 3 months with limited side effects.
Good luck with what ever you decide to do, I know losing weight is like:banghead: coz Im still trying too LOL

Hello- when i was in training for the army i took reductil- i had to drop 15 kgs and nothing i was doing was working-:)- along with the reductil I was also training so running everyday and situps, pushup etc and i lost 15kgs in just over 3 mths!!!
I found that they gave me the energy to do every thing i needed to do- didn't notice a huge decrease in appitite- but they are meant to speed up your metabolism!
I found that they were very expensive- but they do work!
Best of luck on them- i stopped taking them after 3 mths- abd managed to keep the majoratey of the weight off until i fell pregnant- now my bum has it's own postcode! But that is another story:shame:
Best of luck on your weight loss mission!

anything that supresses your appetite and gives you lots of energy is virtually speed. That would explain your feeling on the second day orlandosmum, you would have been coming down.
My major issue about taking drugs to loose weight is what happens once you stop taking them? You haven't really changed your eating habits except that you don't eat as much. So it would be very easy to go back to the same habits as before and you could find yourself back where you started from.
i used to take Duromine. was a appetite suppressant, i do love it as it really does work, except my hubby hates me on it as i tend not to eat at all  and it always feels like i just have.
i have to give myself a break on it as i start to feel ill from too much time off eating. so it makes me eat more lighter/or just fruits and salad etc..
anyways i havent tried reductil, but sounds like the same type of thing.
like chellegoth said, you'll prolly just go back to old habits, but i do believe (imo) its a good starter for weightloss, for me anyways.
i used to like the energy it gave me too  although that sounds terrible haha.
Duromine costs alot, but reductil sounds heaps dearer. ouch
anywas good luck

Duromine has been linked to a disease which effects the valves of your heart and is now on a limited prescription list, which means doctors have to be really careful who and how much they prescribe. Also - it is the "truckie drug" that truckies allegedly use to stay awake and some people try and sell it.
I took duromine combined with prozac for 4 months then a break and then another 4 months and lost about 20kg about five years ago. Ironically - I tried it about 3 years ago and apart from it being hard to find someone to prescribe it for the above reasons, when I finally did - it didnt work again????:(
I am at a loss as to what to do about my weight now. After the twins I was 86kg but now after 3 months with the twins I am 90kg:eek: I eat for stress reasons!!!
I am confused with all the diet advice nowadays - low carb, atkins, low GI, CSRIO diet, calorie counting, weight watchers, Jenny Craig - I just dont know what to do.
Basically I eat too much of the wrong things but I just cant seem to control it - as soon as I get anxious or stressed I eat.:crying:
Now I am thinking about trying the sureslim plan but it depends how much it costs. I try and walk a lot but I just dont have any will power.
I tried reductil briefly but it did nothing for me.
My hubby has resorted to calling me "Two-tonne-Tessie" but then he is one of those really skinny people who have always eated whatever they wanted and never had a problem.

If they give me the energy to do stuff and exercise and the kick start to lose weight then there worth it. i was shocked when i was weighed at the drs 93kgs. gees that is the heaviest i have ever weighed but hey i am going to knock that weight off i just need that kickstart. to anyway that is thinking im nut for taking that please don't reply as i only need positive feedback at the moment and you girls just gave me heaps of pos so i will go and buy a months worth this wk. the chemist priced them at $131.05 expensive.

I never said I thought you were a nut and I am sorry if you thought I was being negative. I have never taken weight loss drugs and was interested about what happens once you stop taking them, and I still am.
I know the shock of discovering of what you actaully weigh after giving birth. I was 92 kilos after i had DD. I have now managed to get myself down to 75.7 (as of today) so I do know all about the struggle.
I took duromine years ago which turned me into a psycho.
Then I took Adifax, which were excellent, I lost about 7 kilos really easily, but then they took them off the market because they were linked to heart valve problems in fat americans who were also taking herbal supplements at the same time.
The latest one I have used is Tenuate Dospan, which I found to be excellent. No psychotic tendencies, a bit of a dry mouth but that was it.
I also used Xenical for a while.
Now I am pregnant so I don't care what I weigh for the first time in 10 years I am trying to eat enough to put on weight. Its so liberating!!

monique that would be great tell me what chat you use and i will set one up so we can chat,
Chellegoth i was implying you were being neg i was actually mentioning it due to someone ( no names) on the blubber club who didn't like the idea of the tablets that is the only reason i mentioned i only wanted pos, no one on this thread has said anything to upset me.
Shed, tenuate dospan i found really good and the only side effect was a slight dry mouth but it onloy worked once and then after that i couldn't lose any weight on it even after a yr break from it, it's like my body became immune to it.
xenicle - my mum gave me her tablets of that as she lost 4kgs on them so i am currently using them until i get to the chemist to buy these tablets anyway sorry if this is tmi but it is freaky how you go to the toilet and if you look the water looks all oily afterwards like when you cook a fatty meal and then you cool the tray down with water and the oil rises to the top well this just shows those tablets must really be sucking up the fat.
Yes, I agree with the Tenuate Dospan immunity thing. They get less effective as time goes on. I noticed that too.
Speaking of tmi with the Xenical...
do not, I repeat DO NOT, eat cheesecake  you will live to regret it!

Hi suger and spice did u get msn messenger to work
I have had a weight problem all my life, starting at the age of 5 and went on Duromine at aged 16. The longest I was awake was 72hrs, I certainly lost the weight but I got ill as I stopped eating completely and was staying awake and using energy I didn't have. I ended up in hospital for a week. It also gave me hive like brown and very visable bumps all over my body. I have just recently tried reductal but I was only given two weeks worth as a trial from a doc who is helping me sort out my weight with my Dietician but my dietician said they don't usually start working till u have been on them for over 2wks. I can't afford either of these and even tho they work in the intrum when you stop it all comes back.
It is up to you if you would like to trial them and different drugs work for different people.
But as Chelle said it is Speed.
Xenical really only works if you eat a lot of fatty foods and if you do and have Xenical the bathroom will be your friend from now on instead of bubhub. :D

drug will do your body more harm than good
it is so tempting to take the quick fix

I don't think a few people have read the page 2 of my thread where i have specifically asked for pos feedback, there is honestly no reason for people to judge me for trying to give myself a kickstart. i know i am fat and that i need to lose weight and if i have to weigh up the risks id prefer to lose weight, be fitter for my family so i am not so tired and have the energy to start exercising to get me on the way. I would much rather that nudge than all the probs that come with obesity and being overweight. please don't judge me, i did not ask for that.

There is nothing wrong with giving your body a kick start - geez after 10 months of pregnancy and putting on weight and then breastfeeding and eating like a horse to keep up with supply................ no wonder our metabilism is screwed!!
Duromine is speed - gives you lots of energy and suppresses appetite but majority of people have problems sleeping even if you take it first thing in the morning and it can make you paranoid and give you mood swings.
Reductil doesn't seem to have as much side effects.
By all means give it a go but start working out your maintenance plan. The pills don't work by themself and you do need to have a healthy diet and drink heaps of water! You will find as the weight starts to drop off, you get more energy to do things and you feel more motivated.

thanks for that, yeah i am just going to give myself a kickstart, i seriously could do with some more energy so thats gotta be a good thing and if the tablets don't agree with me i will stop taking them.
thanks everyone for caring, i really just wanted to know what peoples side effects were and how much weight loss they lost so i hope i can lose that sort of weight to:hugs:
