New to the forum, & expecting the 2nd munchkin

Hi and welcome. I am relatively new myself but quite addicted to the forum. I also have a two year old who is into spectacular tantrums at present. We have adopted the "count to three" method in the last few days and the message must be getting through because on some occasions she stops what she is doing on "2", but otherwise she has to go and sit on her bed until she is ready to come out and be happy..........and for some reason it doesn't occur to her that she could just climb down and play with her toys - she actually sits and cries and screams then appears when she is finished. Toddler logic hey?! I have a feeling it is going to go on for a long time though.......

hey thersa,
i have also adpoted the same method but he just stands there a looks at me so i do time out and it works like a charm ie i count to three when i get there its time out time where he spends 5mins in his room, when he comes out he gives me a slopy kisses and hugs. a couple times of that and he stops it.
hey can i ask u a question?? does ur 2 yr old throws toys?? if so how did u stop it?

Hmmmm....no throwing toys at this point. She does throw stuff off our front verandah (our house is one story up on poles) but that is a different problem (it is normally our shoes, her baby sister's rattles and cushions from the couch). And we haven't worked out how to stop that yet, other than trying not to react too strongly. Someone else might have some ideas if you post a thread with the question - and I will be interested to see the feedback.
