View Full Version : 7 weeks & still no typical pregnancy symptoms...

I have mentioned this previously in our symptoms thread at the very beginning of my pregnancy. And i am now 7 weeks, still no morning sickness, still no breast changes (slightly sore nipples but only if i poke them hard!) and i am just so worried about this. I asked my GP to check my progesterone etc. when he checked my HCG levels but he said there was no need. But i am going mad not having any sort of symptoms, and i cant even have a scan to check because i know my dates.
Anyone else have no symptoms at all, and still have a healthy pregnancy? All i hear is all pregnant women get sick and i am sitting here feeling fine so i cant help but worry something is wrong with me. :(

If ur really worried go get a second opinion and ask for an ultrasound because ur worried it will ease ur mind. i didnt get too sick but my doc was nice enough to give me a referal for an 8weeks scan and i was so much better after that. Anyway try and rest as much as u can. hope it goes well for u.

With my Ds i had virtually no symptoms to start with, this time around i will gladly swap LOL.
Anyway i aggree if you are wanting peace of mind definately get a second opinion and ask for a scan, worst case lie and say you dont know when your LMP was. That way you can have a date scan.
Some dr's

I would also go to another doctor, tell them you think you're pregnant but aren't sure of how far along you are, they will give you a referral for a 'dating scan'. Honestly, I would go and get it done, there's nothing worse than sitting around not knowing. When's your first scan?? You could just be one of the lucky ones who doesn't get morning sickness or any other related symptoms, but for your peace of mind I'd be doing whatever it took to get a scan, or at least some bloods done. Go with your gut feeling. It's your body, tell the doctor your concerns and hopefully he'll try to aleviate your concerns with a scan or blood tests.
Goodluck!

I'm the same as you,(also 7 weeks as of tomorrow) and no real symptoms to speak of...but I was the same with my DD and I had a healthy pregnancy with her.
Please try not to worry,we are all different, but if your really concerned, like the other ladies have suggested, ask for an early scan to put your mind at rest.:)
Hi, sorry to butt in (I'm not actually pregnant, just browsing the 'new posts' and saw your thread)....anyway, when I was pregnant with DS I didn't start to get any real symptoms until just around 7 weeks. Even then I hardly got morning sickness (yay) and had a really easy pregnancy and I now have a gorgeous 8.5 month old :D

Don't worry, I didn't get any symptoms with either of my pregnancies in the first trimester - in fact with my first I didn't realise I was pregnant until I was 10 weeks. And both my babies have been great - no worries.
If you are worried, I'd visit your GP for a check up - there's no point in worrying when a simple checkup could give you peace of mind.

Thanks guys :hugs:
I think i might ask for a scan. Just to put my mind at ease, because its sending me mad with no symptoms.
Emsmum, my first scan is scheduled for the 3rd December. So still 5 weeks away! First Ob appointment is 22 November.
Is a GP able to listen to the heartbeat this early? Or is it only something you can detect on an ultrasound? Even that would be helpful, just to hear it.
Im also glad to hear some others have had no symptoms, and have gone on to have healthy bubs

Usually around 12weeks you can hear heartbeat with a doppler:thumbsup:
but if you have scan now you will see heartbeat beating away!!! with my DS the heartbeat was flickering at 5wks 4days.
Go have a scan... put ya mind at ease IM AM!! haha

I didn't get morning sickness until week 8 of my pregnancy and then it hung around till about week 16, before resurfacing every morning of my last trimester...it was horrid and I wouldn't wish it on anyone...
I even made notes in my diary at the time to never get pregnant again due to this... but now we are TTC #2...

Hi gals,
I have an update. I went to the dr this morning and my usual dr was on holidays, so i saw another dr. He refused to give me a scan! Said it was too early (which is ****, you can see the bub and 7 1/2 weeks on a scan surely). I got another HCG blood test but no hormone levels or anything. I begged for a scan but he said no. I just went back to my car and cried, i didnt know what else to do! So i have had the blood test, get the results this afternoon, and if thats ok i guess i am just back to waiting again.
Im so upset he wouldnt give me a scan, thats all i want, just to see it on the screen.
I called my obstetrician, and they said they might do a scan, but i need to let them know my HCG first, then ask the ob if i can have it done.
I need to stop worrying, i know, everyone says that, but its certainly easier said than done when you dont feel pregnant and everyone else says "Oh i threw up everyday for 3 months when i was pregnant".

:hugs: sorry, i didn't mean to make you feel bad...that was not my intention...
have you noticed any of the other symptoms? even mild forms of them?
Food Cravings
Darkening of Areolas
Frequent Urination
Headaches
Backaches
Fatigue/Tiredness
Swollen/Tender Breasts
Delay/Difference in Menstruation
Implantation Bleeding
I think you can get a scan done at a hospital if you are concerned, I know one of my friends did and I remember she was only around 6wks...I would have thought the dr would do something other then the bloods to make you feel more reassured...I am sorry that he made you cry like that...:hugs: best of luck on your pg journey...

That's so bizarre. I know exactly when my last period was and my doctor gave me a referral for a scan at 7 weeks and said to come back at 10 weeks to get another referral for a scan at 11-12 weeks... I wonder why some just dont do it...!! How frustrating for you!!!
So my scan is next Monday, very excited. I wished and wished for morning sickness so I knew that everything is ok..., I have started feeling queezy this morning and I take it all back, I dont want no bloody morning sickness! LOL. Sore boobs and excess saliva is enough for me! :)

Oh no Kanga i wasnt referring to you! That came out all wrong. I was actually referring to several friends of mine (work and personal) who have said things like that to me, nothing to do with anyone here on bubhub, you guys have been nothing but supportive :hugs:
I think i have been peeing a little more often, but it comes and goes. The only other thing is no menstrual period. No changes in breasts, nothing. I guess i might just be lucky?
it is weird that some drs give you a scan referral and some dont. I begged him for a scan and he wouldnt even listen. I thought he would do it if i asked for it.
Mandii20 im sure i will feel the same way if i get some m/s, wish for it to come, then wish i hadnt!

If this helps I didn't start feeling sick until I reached weeks 12 - 14.
Up until then the only changes I had was my boobs doubling in size.
Pregnancy treats every body different. Maybe you're one of the lucky ones.
Count your blessings hun, people would prefer to be in your position!!!

No you didnt upset me at all :) I love everyone here at bubhub, you are all so great at helping a girl chill out and reassuring that everything will be fine.
And yes, i will run through the board screaming when i feel any sort of pregnancy symptom!!

I cant believe your dr said that to you. You can definetly see a bub at 7wks on a scan. You can see the bub once the hcg level goes over 1000, maybe thats why the Ob was waiting for the hcg levels to come back. Try not to worry too much about symptoms. Some people are lucky enough to go through pg without a symptom at all. It doesnt reflect on how pg you are at all! If you not happy with your treatment with your drs maybe go to a different one. The one thing i learnt since losing oceana you have to stand up to the drs and demand what you want. Its your body, your baby, you have a right to decide on whats best for yourself! Good luck hun with your results this afternoon! :fingerscrossed: :hugs:

Thanks Jaydensmum :hugs:
I kept saying "Are you sure i cant get a scan?" but he just wouldnt budge. It was not my normal doctor, he is on holidays, it was a dr i have never seen before. I think my normal dr would have said i was worrying too much, but if i really wanted a scan he would have done it.
Im sure everything is probably fine anway, i would just sleep better at night if i had a picture to prove it
and Jaydensmum thanks for the advice, i will make sure i continue to demand what i want, because it is our own body and we know what is best. Also, i am so sorry for your loss, i cant imagine what you went through. Huge hugs :hugs: And congrats on your pregnancy, due on the 1st July, just in time for the rise of the baby bonus!
Im due on the 14 June, and my DH told me that i have to keep my legs closed for 2 weeks to get the bigger baby bonus, and i told him to go jump
And also thanks Hayliitwang, it is good to hear someone else had no M/s til later! You dont hear about us gals with no symptoms as much, only the horror stories of the poor gals who get so sick.

What a load of **** you can see the bub at @ 6weeks!
Are you 7weeks LMP dates cause that would make bub 5weeks gestation so maybe a little early? or 7weeks from conception.. with my DS they saw something at 5weeks & 4days, I said to my doc i wanna scan, he said you could go now(but may not see as much) or wait a few weeks then you will see more(so i waited) its TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but this scan is still considered a date scan, then i will have the 11-14week scan aswell. You poor thing!! I think you should be able to have a scan its your body & baby!!!!
Go see another doc who cares how much it costs.:hugs: lots of cuddles.. i understand how ya feel...

u could always tell them u r having some cramping or spotting, i had spotting when i was around 8 weeks with ds and the dr sent me straight for an ultrasound to check on bubs, sounds like u should find a nicer fill in dr for when your normal dr is away

I got my results, and i spoke to the dr again. He said that the blood levels look fine, and i am still pregnant :) He also said he hopes i wasnt too upset, and that it looks like everything is fine so to relax and be happy that i am not having a bad time with the horrible symptoms.
I am so releived. My levels are below:
First test (4 weeks) - 142 HCG
Second test (4 weeks 3 days) - 443 HCG
Third test (7 weeks 3 days) - 3155 HCG
I guess that the levels are normal? I was expecting higher for my 7 weeks cos i thought they doubled all the time. But according to the printout it is within normal ranges.
I feel a bit better about the dr now. He was very nice on the phone, maybe he felt bad for sending me away like that!
The results were faxed to my Obstetrician too, and her secretary said she will look at them and they will contact me if they think i need a scan before my appointment.
Phew... i feel so much better!

And yes, bring on the symptoms!
Thanks everyone for being so supportive, when it might sound like i was worrying for no reason. It surprised me too, how much this no symptom thing gets to you. If you get sick, you wish you werent, but if you dont get sick, you wonder why not???
Anyway, thanks everyone who offered their kind words and support. :hugs:

Katieflutterby - that is great to hear!
My HCG at 5 weeks was 5190...maybe I am having twins. hehe. What yas think? Probably not :)
I bet you cant wait till your normal dr comes back again, he sounded so disinterested about it all, no support! I hate doctors like that.
