I thought I would start a thread where people could share what their favourite thing/s is/are about breastfeeding.

Personally I love lots of things. I love how my DD sees the breast coming towards her and just chomps down any-old-where in her eagerness to get started.

I love the way her hands come up and hold either side of my breast as she has this look of absolute focus on the task at hand.

And I love that drunk look she gets when she's had a good feed, often followed by a resounding burp and then a cute grin as though she thinks the sound was funny.

Most of all, I love it when she falls asleep at the breast. I know I have done a really good job then. That look of absolute contentment as though nothing else in the world matters... She is so cute!

So come on. Share your favourite breastfeeding stories and

VIVA LA BREASTFEEDING!

(So what if that last line makes no sense!!!)

I am still breastfeeding my twins at 11 months and I love it. I love when they are a bit whingey and I put them on and their eyes half close with sheer satisfaction. I love the feeling I get when nothing else satisfies them like "booby". I am also guilty of feeding them until they fall asleep but I feel that one day they won't want/need me as much so I make the most of it now!! I plan to feed as long as they want to continue and as long as I have enough milk (which isn't a problem at the moment!!).

I LOVE the closeness of BF. I dont even minf the middle night cuddles I get when she wakes for a feed...................
It is something I know that I can do for her that no one else can do.

"It's a kinda magic, magic!!!" I think of this song when I'm breastfeeding-it gives me the most emotionally satisfying feeling. When bub sleeps longer than usual, it's not just the full breast thing haoppening, it's almost a need to feed! And then there's the little grunts of excitement when the boob appears in front of that little mouth, which is working itself into a frenzy in anticipation. The drunken look with milk just dribbling out of the side of the mouth-how satisfied do they look? I agree, most of the time I don't mind being woken in the night. It's almost like a secret world between bub and I to be feeding in the dead of night, wondering how many other little mouths are digging into their favourite meal. And putting bub on the boob whilst laying in bed and then waking to see a deep sleeping 100% contented little person. Knowing that I can settle my bub any time with a quick lift of the shirt. And those eyes-OH the eyes, looking into mine so deeply that sometimes I think we are looking into each other's souls.
Three times I have had this with my babies-I feel like I have won the lotto!!;)

My DS and I unfortunately didn't get to breastfeed anywhere near long enough due to health issues on both sides... I felt quite... almost like a failure... (this was a long time ago now.. I have moved on)... I wish I had been able to breastfeed longer...

what I enjoyed the most was he always held onto my little finger with his hand... he would lay there and give it a gentle squeeze everynow and again... I knew he was asleep once the squeezing stopped...

I could sit there for hours like that.... it was such a wonderful feeling

I love it when my daughter rubs her foot up and down my arm while she feeds. And the way she stares deep into my eyes at times while she'd feeding. I also love it when she touches my face with her hand and smiles when I pretend to eat her fingers, still holding the nipple in her mouth.

I love it now that the dude is old enough he grabs at my top when he is hungry. I don't know why that seems so special but it is.

Oh wow, where do i start?

I love that MJ comes up to me when hungry & in her desperation sucks my shoulder, belly or any other piece of visible skin.

I love the way we both fall asleep when MJ feeds during the middle of the night.

I love the closeness it givs us.

I love the way she holds it in her hands while drinking.

I love her smiles & dribbles during feeding.

I love when she falls asleep at the breast.

I love that i'm the only one who can do this for her :smiliedance:

That'll do for now

I ABSOLUTELY love the cheeky grin DS gives me when he interrupts feeding to look at me/ something... he KNOWS he shouldn't :) - it definately says "I'm naughty!" - I'm expecting to see that grin lots over the next few years though  :D

I love when he smiles and laughs with booby still in his mouth.
I love his little nose bobbing up and down.
I love when he puts his little hand down my boobs when he wants a feed.
I love when he's finished and just wants to get off and play how he's all wobbly on his feet cos he's booby drunk.
I love that we get to sit down and be quiet and still for 5 minutes 3 times a day....lol!

I just lOVE all of it :D

I don't know if I "love" these ones but they are funny and both my kids have done it.

Trying to talk while feeding:rolleyes:
Eating biccies inbetween drinks a bit like dunking?
looking around while still attached and stretching my poor titty.
Offering to share with another child(usually their breastfeed cousins)

But I love Breastfeeding and I love how breastfed babies/children smell, so sweet.

Well, what do you know? I figured someone had probably started a similar thread somewhere along the way, and I'm not at all surprised to find out it was you, JanetF :p

Nevermind. There can never be too many happy breastfeeding stories!

Ooohh, I forgot about that one. I love kissing my bub after a feed and smelling her milky breath!

We are still relatively new to BF and still having troubles but nonetheless, I get a real high when I look down and she has fallen asleep and has a huge smile on her face (with nipple still in mouth).

Also, as horrible as this sounds, when she falls asleep at the breast and is taken for a nappy change by her father, only to wake up and realise she has lost the boob, she becomes so distraught!!! She was never like that on the bottle....

Cheers

Even with the bad feelings I had about breastfeeding I still enjoyed certain parts of it.

Not having to get out of bed to get bottles for bub in the middle of the night.

Falling asleep together while bub was still feeding.

The way DD2 used to hold either side of my boob while she was feeding.

The way DD1 used to fight sleep but always lost the battle once the boob arsenal was called to action!!

The look of complete content on their faces while feeding and being so close to mum.

I was the only person who could do this for them!!

I'm no longer bfing my kids. They are now 5 and 3. DD only just weaned herself. This may sound weird, but I really am mourning that part of my life going... I bf'd for just over 5 years, never stopped through pregnancy or sickness... My hormones have changed too, I can feel it. I miss being able to fix anything with a quick bf. I miss that closeness, I think I even miss being needed!

So that doesn't really answer the question directly, but out of that you can probably gather what I loved!

I love it when DS lightly tickles my waist while he's feeding.

I also love it when he's been trying to work a big poo through for hours, then 3 sucks on the boob and he fills his nappy with this great look of relief and contentment on his face :yelclap:

Thanks for starting this up. Have been considering bottle feeding for a while now, and this has made me concentrate on the good things.

I love it when his eyes light up when he sees booby (and it doesn't have to be in the flesh. Through a shirt is enough for him - love the confused look he gets when he tries to latch on through fabric! :p )

I love it when he strokes my side as he's feeding.

Love the hugs.

Love it when he rests his hand on top of my booby and looks so content.

Love knowing that sometimes it will put him to sleep.
