It is used for both reasons. Bonjella just numbs the gums for teething problems and numbs the pain so you can eat and drink without pain, when you have an ulcer. So it does the same thing for both reasons, just numbs the affected area. Hope that helps.

From memory, its safe to give babys over 4 months. bonjella didnt work terribly well with my dd and i (my wisdoms) but its worked for a lot of others. you could also try a little panadol. We used sm33 gel really numbs the gums (taste horrible but stops them licking it off) very affective and fine for infants.

Had to add my bit... SM-33 worked SOOO much better than Bonjella. It saved is! Also, Brauers Teething Drops - excellent!

If youve been given the Bonjela "mouth ulcer' instead of Bonjela "teething gel" I personally wouldnt use it on bub, not sure if it contains the same ingredients .... They are two different things arnt they? Maybe check up first

Teething gels never worked on DD, nor panadol , only nurofen worked.

The normal old Bonjella teething cream, the one sold in baby isles is the same you can use for ulcers.
