View Full Version : Another question! Which detergent?
I did a search for this but couldn't find the right thing, sorry!
What detergent do you use for your mcn's and why?
Finished my box of powder and going shopping later :)
I should add that I have ordered a trial pack of soap nuts but need something for now

yep thats what i use.
its only around $2 and works, for me there is no reason to buy any other.
I have used Planet Ark for years. Only need about 1 dsp and it lasts for ages. All biodegradable, great for sensitive skin, etc.
I've just received my Miracle Wash Laundry Balls and can't wait to use them. I've still got 1/2 a box of detergent left though, and have promised myself to finish it off before starting with the balls.:fingerscrossed:

I just got home from the shops myself and also new to the mcn's, was going to jump on and ask same question. I noticed so many detergents had some sort of whitener like sard, fluffy or cuddly in them...or eucalyptus etc. which i'm guessing is no good for the mcn's.
For those of you who use earth choice/ planet ark are these good for cleaning the rest of your clothes? Hubby works with a lot of diesel, fibre class, oil...etc or would i be better off having 2 different detergents one for bubs nappies and our clothers...and one for DH's clothes?
Thanks

Don't use Earth Choice/Planet Ark, we use Amolin as Baby K has sensitive skin that reacts to most others. But we just use that for her clothes and nappies, and use whatever for the rest of us :) Welcome to the MCN addiction.

Are you saying "Don't use Earth Choice/Planet Ark" or that you personally don't use them?
I've used Planet Ark for years, and many other MCN users do also. I've found it to be just brilliant.

I use Planet Ark on everything. It's always performed wonderfully, even though I use less than the recommended amount for not only nappies, but all clothes.

I have a handy, huge container of Earth Choice that's going to last me for yonks. I do prefer a liquid detergent, for sure.
I am using only about 30mls for an XL load of nappies (rinsed in a bucket first) together with everything else around that needs washing.
My 15 kilos of laundry liquid is going to be sitting up there on the freezer for years!! Great stuff

Tri-Nature laundry detergent. We live rurally, and our bathroom/laundry gray water empties directly onto our paddock. The Tri-Nature one is phosphate free, and is safe for septic/gray water systems. I'm also reliably told that it leaves no residue on the nappies, so doesn't alter their absorbency over time (not that its a great problem with other brands, but I do know of people having to strip wash their absorbent inserts regularly because of detergent build up...Its never been a problem around here).
Best of all, it works on ALL our clothes :)
Oh, and BTW - I'm not affiliated with Tri-Nature in any way...If you want to find their products they're here (http://www.trinature.com/).
