Let see who the most dedicated cloth mummy here.

Qu.1 When did you last use a disposable?

Qu.2 Approximately how many disposables have you used?

Qu.1 I last used one when toadlet was 9 weeks and I was in Adelaide on holiday for a week, during the winter no clothes dryer. I had to buy a packet of (environmentally friendly) disposables. So that was 5.5 months ago

Qu2. About 12 nappies when he was brand new and about 20 when I was in Adelaide. Never used one other than that. So 32 disposables.

Last used one 30/03/07 so nigh on 7 months, he was born on the Wednesday, straight to a sposie while i was in recovery... home to cloth on the Friday

*EDIT: no idea how many that is, I know I have 1 left from that little stack you get when they're born

When Olivia was 2 days old. I have only used 3 disposables, because the hospital told me I wasn't 'allowed' to use cloth. What a good little girl I was *shame*. After talking to another middy, she said I could use their cloth - the hospital was just being stingy, because they have to pay for the washing, but not the sposies  :banghead:

I love disposables, but I love cloth more:D so I'm not ashamed to say we are using some on DD now to get her through a really bad rash/infection which just wouldn't heal with cloth on

Well as nuts as i am about MCN i have to admit to buying a packet for Boof & for Squeak when i went into hospy.

I didnt want to wreck my MCN's with meconium :o plus we didnt trust the hospy i was at as in someone taking them or them being thrown out accidently.

The packet for Boof lasted ages cause it was opened before i went into hospy. I was so tired at the end of the pregnancy i succumbed to being lazy. Then some were used when he stayed at my mums when he wasnt in flats & they were going out. The rest have been used up on trips out because we are now TT & he refuses nappies most of the time.

Pretty poor form really because before that i was going strong ! Boof had been in MCN for 18mths !

Squeak wont see them again especially now that im trying to convince DP that the money we are yet again saving on them can be used to buy the mei tai that i want

I last used them about the 2nd day she came home from the hospital. It was on that day that I went into town and picked up a few more MCN's so I finally had a whole 8 MCN's so I could use them full time! (But I had to put a wash on every night and then dry them on the heated towel rack overnight!)

But her Dad put one on her when he took her out when she was a few weeks old. But just that one, he was converted almost as quickly as me to MCN's

I probably used about 1.5 packs of sposies with her. We stayed in hospital 5 days so we went thru more than just the free pack, and into about half of a pack I bought when I was pg (thinking I'd need them - ha!!)

I am very proud of myself!!

Qu.1 When did you last use a disposable?

when Rylan was about 6 or 8 weeks old. hes now 10 months old so how ever long that is!
haa

Qu.2 Approximately how many disposables have you used?

he was in hospital for a week when a newborn in NICU so we went through a fair bit there as they 'dont do cloth anymore'
and a box of the 108 at home when we got him home cause i only had enough MCN for part time cloth there, and i was waiting on the baby bonus to get the rest.
so maybe 150 maybe a bit more

Qu.1 When did you last use a disposable? She's wearing one right now. Since we moved, my stash hasn't been big enough to keep us going full-time, as we don't have an outdoor clothesline... it's just under the house in the garage. Means drying time is SUPER long... and it's even rained a few times since we've been here, so we're only in cloth part-time now.

I haven't bothered buying more cloth because DD is getting a bit old, and now she's started to TT... so it doesn't seem worth it. (That, and I'm now poor).

Qu.2 Approximately how many disposables have you used? MANY. We only started in cloth when DD wsa 19 months old...:p

used them on dd2 uo until her cord fell off on day 5...have had to use 2 since then (ran out of mcn's). I didn't buy them though...they were left over from dd1. Haven't used one on dd1 since her yeast infection when she was about 16 months (she's 2 next month).

total all up-no idea. Didn't get mcn's until dd1 was about 6 weeks old, then have had to use the odd one here or there, and two-three weeks worth with the yeast infection.

I LOVE Cloth, but I still use sposies very occasionally. I dont think there is any thing wrong with that or anything to be ashamed of.

Sometimes its nice to just have the change.

I have used about 100 disposables on Julius from birth to 6 weeks. Before I decided to use cloth I bought some huggies newborn nappies for him. They run out & I thought that would be the last of them but the other day my mum bought some medium disposable nappies for Julius as she doesnt like cloth. So yeah now he has disposables, they look so 'cheap' and 'plasticy' to me so iam changing them fequently so they run out fast.

They just are not his style

I've been using heaps lately. I'm working full-time and can't keep up with the washing. HOWEVER, I'm finishing in a few months, and am keen to get DS back into cloth full-time. I'm hoping this one will be in cloth full-time from birth. Newborn poos are easy!

love it! they're not our style either...

don't ya hate when someone buys you sposies? i felt like it was a waste not to use them but i didnt want to! (ended up using some on our weekends away and gave the rest to a friend who uses them)

Q.1 When did you last use a disposable?

Dakota was roughly 3 months old since the last disposable went on her bum. We've been 100% cloth for around 14 months now.

Q.2 Approximately how many disposables have you used?

Well... DS1, DD1 and DS2 only ever wore disposables. DS1 was fully TT'ed since the age of 2, DD1 since the age of 3 and DS1 since the age of 2. Plus DD2, 3 months worth.

So roughly we've used 7.5 years (give or take) worth of disposables. :o Very shameful!

When did you last use a disposable?

Two days ago on DD2 and last night on DD1.

DD2 has 2 pair of pants that don't fit with a cloth nappy, so I use them with a 'sposie. So about once a fortnight if we go out.

How many have you used?

DD1 was a full-time sposie baby...so 3 years worth of sposies there. ( I actually wish I had known about MCN then:banghead: )

DD2 wore them for the first two weeks as I was to tired to do anything!

We last used a disposable when we were overseas on hols in Sept- however we were away for 3 weeks and only 6 disposables used for DD2 so obviously a few MCNs as well!!! Hemp is much much better for travelling IMO as it dries a lot faster. Wetbags essential! But I did have access to a washing machine. Otherwise it would be very diffficult.

Apart from that she has been fulltime in MCNs since 3 mths.

I had to get rid of my stock pile of sposies that I bought when they were on special prior to discovery of the wondrous MCN!! Fortunately I found a willing friend.

No need to be embarrassed about using them girls! The way I see it, is Disposables should only be used as a SOMETIMES thing.

It is when you use them Full Time that is not too good.

Although, I reaslise that some people, given whatever circumstances have no choice but to use them full time, and that is ok too :)

You always have a choice ;)

I started using disposables at about 9-10months with dd1. Used flats beforehand.

I started to use them at night when dd2 was maybe 6 months or so when the flats wouldn't last the night. Haven't used a disposable since she was about 11months old (not long after I got MCN). She's now 2.

Dd1 wears a cloth pullup at night sometimes (bedwetting).

Ronan is happily sleeping in a H disposable now :) We've had some lovely rain over the last couple of days and could do with an extra night nappy or two with everything wet and hanging up around the house! Oh this rain is bliss, worth using a whole packet of disposables! Ok might be going a bit silly there ;) :p

We use about 5 disposables a week at the moment. Only have 1 cloth pull-up so for outings when that one is still on the line, he is in disposable pull-ups. Having trouble with tt.

Ariene might wear 2 or 3 disposable nappies a month. It used to be never, but hey, I've loosened up a little. Doesn't make me less keen on MCN, or evil, or whatever!! ;) :D

omg last nappy used on "the baby" a few days ago - was striping the other nappies!
and same for ds1

as for howmany, well lest see which kid?? lol
dd - just about her entire nappy life (bad!) - a couple of thousand!)

ds1 - from birth untill about 3mths ago (hes now about to turn 2) so another couple.... lol

ds2 - he was in them till 3mths ago too and is now 1 (on sat) so less spoisies on him than the other 2!!! lol

i am now a 100% cloth convert! and as long as i dont have a disposable in my house i will not use one!!!

We sometimes use sposies on days I work, if I forget to stuff the pockets or if the grandparents have TJ. I admit to using the occasional sposie if I'm feeling lazy, but get the guilts badly after seeing his sore red toosh (they mark him badly)
We started using MCN part/fulltime in January so 10+ months of full-time sposies. Ewww.
(I once bought 5 boxes when they were on special, they lasted about 3 months)
:o:o

the red toosh problem!! we can only use huggies as every other brand causes nasty rash! thus the 2 boys in nappies, that arent the cheapest! i concluded that cloth was gonna be it! - as long as i steer clear of detergents on the nappies we are all good!! lol

we use approximately 2 a month - I only take spare cloth if I know we'll need them, I just keep a disposable in my handbag in case we are out longer than expected or there is poo.

Not so good here as I only went full-time cloth about 3 months ago. Also DD was in sposies for a couple of days last week whilst I strip washed all her nappies :)

I didn't know about MCN until DD was 4months old.

But by 4.5months old she was in full time cloth!

That was 10 months ago now. And I have not used a 'sposie since we made the switch :D

How many 'sposies had I used? not sure, however many you go through in about 4months!

Qu.1 When did you last use a disposable?
Never

Qu.2 Approximately how many disposables have you used?
None

Although dd is only 7weeks old tomorrow so still plently of time for emergencies i guess, I was given plently of sposies as presents but I plan on giving them a friend when her baby arrives in a few weeks. I just think mcn are so cute!

Qu.1 When did you last use a disposable?

Gosh can''t remember. When Av was 10mths which is about 15 months ago. My MIL used a sposie on him - does that count? It was my neice's nappy (who is a year younger!)He rarely wears nappies at all now.

Qu.2 Approximately how many disposables have you used?

Since we discovered mcn? I think we finished a box and half a apacket. Not sure. It was awhile ago.
Or ever? Way too many. According statistics thousands. My girl used cloth flats for her first weeks. My big boy never wore cloth. My little boy used disposables for the first 8mths exclusively.

we are on holidays at the moment, staying at my in-laws, and I decided it was too hard to do cloth staying at someone else's house. I think it is perfectly acceptable to use disposables while travelling (and I don't say that to justify my decision).

Ordinarily, however, I use 1-2 a month. I don't carry a nappy bag. If I know we will need a nappy change, I take a spare nappy. I just keep a disposable and wipes in my handbag for "emergencies" (poos, or getting held up and being out longer than expected). I nearly got through November without a disposable, but Jack pooed while we were shopping on the 30th!!!

Susan Mac
13-12-2007, 13:21
Oh, and we didn't discover MCNs until June, so Jack was 9 months. until then it was flats at home, disposables overnight and going out - so about 14 a week.

Really ? That seems like a long time Jess. If I remember correctly you used flats a few times, then used disposables and then converted to MCN at the start of this year.

It feels like we've been 100% cloth (MCN) for many many years but it's only been around 16months  :o
