I just had to share that I had a most unusual experience this afternoon - a lovely trip to the dentist. I have been meaning to go for ages but a twinge in a tooth a couple of weeks ago reminded me that it really was time. So I made an appointment at the local dentist and trotted along this afternoon. Through a complicated set of circumstances I ended up having the rest of the family with me - and thought it was a good way to get the DDs used to the concept.

Anyway - what a shock! The receptionist came to meet us at the door - opened it before we were up the path and was chatting to the girls. We were given a tour of the facility, introduced to staff, offered cappucinos, the girls were given helium balloons, showed the toy library, given stickers etc. Then while I went off to have a lovely chat to the dentist and dental assistant about life, the universe, and everything, DH and children were given a private lounge to play in and sip their beverages! I had a very pleasant check up and teeth clean, the kids got to climb on me inbetween times and check out the chair etc and the bill at the end was a standard dentist bill. When we left the kids got party bags (toothpaste, brush, crayons, stickers) and the adults got one too - paste, brush and floss. And we were offered an apple from the bowl at reception. Talk about fantastic marketing!

All in all it was a most unusual experience! I have to return next week for some emergency treatment to avoid root canal (which I sort of suspected would be the case:o ) and I can either listen to one of their CD's or bring my own while I am having the treatment. All I can say is that if you live in Brissy and want the name of the place PM me - I was seriously impressed!

Yep!!
Gee - haven't been there yourself by any chance?

MM - no gas! And hopefully by having this work on Wednesday no root canal. I have also been there (my first mother's day was spent finding a dentist to do emergency work) and agree -

Oh - and K.M - I wouldn't have said so normally either - this was weird!

Yes...VERY weird......

I have to go back there - I've been going there forever but stopped after I had a disagreement with one of the dentists re billing....

My parents still go there.

Did you see the monogrammed handtowels in the ladies room ?:D

Did you have a male or female dentist ?

Didn't make it to the ladies room - will check it out on Wednesday!
Had a male dentist - newish to the practice.
I have met one of the female dentists before - at my school reunion last year - she went to a sister school. Strangely, I am happy to not have her as my dentist having met her socially - particularly as they are all sooooo friendly in there!

Can you please PM me his name ? I haven't been in about 4 years so need to go back. If he's getting rave reviews, maybe I'll move to him. I had a disagreement with the other one and ended up getting some drilling done without anaesthetic...."don't worry - this won't hurt a bit !"

Ahhh no...in case you're wondering, I'm not stalking you

Hi

I would really love the name of the dentist you mentioned in your post about a month ago, if you would be kind enough to give it to me.

Thankyou in anticipation
