Just realised I have 2 days worth of nappies to wash and all I have in the laundry are Lux flakes. I thought I heard somewhere that it repels water in nappies and not to use it.

Can anyone clarify if thats true?

I really need to wash them and cant get to a shop today!

I don't think you can use them.... Will make your nappies leak.

If you really need to do it just this once then you could do it, I'd use warm/hot water and an extra rinse to make sure they have no soap residue which will reduce the absorbency and cause smell issues. Plus I'd only do as many as I had to :)

No dont use them at all!
they will just leave a soapy residue all over your nappies and make them repel the wee.
not good for them.

you'll end up having to to quite a few rinse cycles which really defeats the purpose of using MCNs!

Yes if you used them all the time, but as a one off emergency surely that's a different kettle of nappies ;) It certainly won't do irreparable damage to them and ruin them forever with a single wash.

If it's a top loader you could try dish washing detergent instead, as long as it isn't a hand moisturising or similarly added to formula. No build up issues there.

If it were me I'd do a warm wash with less Lux than they say to use. I used a small amount of Lux on my nappies for a long time with no bad effects. :)

DO NOT use the lux.

You are better of using NO detergent at all. Use hot water if possible. Your nappies will be fine. The priniple of using 2 of these three things applies:

Heat
Detergent
Sun.

In this case you would use Hot water (Heat) and sunlight (for drying them).
