I was just wopndering if anyone else out there had carpal tunnel syndrome?

My doctors just diagnosed me with it and the weird thing is im only 13 weeks pregnant, and have developed it early as its usually happens later in pregnancy.

I have pains in my hands and arms, the usual pins and needles every night which are quite annoying and some times painful and they happen during the day too.

Okies thats my story, would love to hear from anyone else!!

Thanks

Yes!

I have had it from about 7 weeks and it is almost constant.

I'm now waking at around 4am each morning with my arms in so much agony that it takes ages to get back to sleep. I'm also aching constantly, dropping things and my joints feel like they are going to snap just doing simple tasks like making sandwiches for lunches!

Luckily, it goes away when bub is born and the blood volume in our bodies drops again.

I was put on vitamin E tablets with my first - I'm not sure if they really worked or whether they just had a placebo effect ... am going to find out at my next ob appointment as it is getting to be too painful.

 Hey Tasha,

I have it and I'm only 9 weeks, it started for me at about 8 weeks and I had it during the early stages of my last pregnancy (the one I lost) too. It's SO annoying, the constant pins and needles. Sometimes it gets so bad that I drop things, and it's really annoying during the night.

There isn't much you can do about it, apart from wearing a brace but I don't really think they do much!

I'm not pregnant but have had this for 12+ years. Pregnancy used to make it heaps worse.
As the others said not alot you can do. You could try a chiropractor as it is said to come from the shoulder or a really good massage but honestly i think it's just the relaxing hormones doing their bit.

Thanks to everyone replying, makes me feel a little normal... as much as we can anyways..

The docs are going to watch my Blood pressure as its gone up, but thats normal. they just dont want it going up up.

Yes Im trying to figure out ways to make it better.. and the annoying thing if its not that its numbing cramps in my legs.. oh boy...

Oh sorry now I sound like a winger!!

Well I hope for all our sakes it will be over and done with after bubs..

Having it for 12 years that must be very hard, may I ask why it hasnt gone away?

Just wanted to add that I have had a 17 year history with the problem and it really is heaps worse when pregnant.

Yep, hard to deal with especially when teamed with cramps or restless legs!

To treat Carpel tunnel, (work related) most people have an operation. I've basically put up with it. I have numb hands most nights or just the three fingers which are controlled by the nerve on the thumb side. I irritate it by writing with a pen for a long time, knitting, vaccinating sheep or drenching sheep, anything that is repetitive really.
Occasionally I get cracked back into alignment by a chiropractor & it comes good for a while but I don't think It'll ever go away.

I had it with my first pregnancy. I wore splints at night and that helped a bit. It went within a few weeks of DD1's birth and I didn't get it during my next two pregnancies and have had no problems with it again. So there is a chance that it will be stricly pregnancy related and will go.

My mum had it outside pregnancy and had an operation about 30 years ago and has had no problems with it since.

I too have Carpal Tunnel Syn all the time. Mine is worse in winter, when I was first diagnosed I strapped my wrist, which helped. If you can keep your wrist straight at night it will help with the pain, cause beding it blocks the blood flow even more, hece the cramps.
I was was booked in for the surgery, but with recovery and everything it was just too much time off worl. My mum's had both wrists operated on. The say it's not hereditary, hmmm. It was a real killer during prg.
