Hi,

I am new to this site. I am nearly 34 wks. And had a check up today. My fundal measurement was only 31 cm. Same measeurement as at my 31 wk check up. I am a bit concerned about this. I see my Obstretcian on Wednesday, hopefully all be ok. But can't help worrying, as it has taken us six years to achieve our dream of having a baby and I want everything to be okay.

Are you still feeling movement every day?

As I understand it, a cm or 2 either way is nothing to be concerned about. I'm measuring ahead, they thought it might be gestational diabetes (but it's not) so I guess I'm just growing a giant inside me....

Maybe yours is just a petite dainty little thing who will not be the cause of any tears or episiotomies!!!

Hi,

A friend of mine had similar problems with her fundal height not increasing but it turned out that the baby was dropping further into the pelvis and her stomach wasn't getting that much bigger because the baby was low down. bubs ended up being a healthy size.

If you are really worried ask for an ultrasound to check growth although they can be unreliable. Said my DS2 was going to be around 7 pounds and he was 8 pounds 10 oz

Good luck, I hope everything works out well for you.

I am assuming you baby is dropping which is why it won't measure as high if you are really concerned ring and check with them, I'd think as long as baby is active and everything else is normal you'll be OK :D

Thank you to all of you who replied, to my thread.
I am still getting movement of the baby and it had a good heartbeat. Hopefully if still a problem the Obstetrician will do an Ultrasound on Wednesday. Or maybe I am having a dainty baby, which will be nice.

I had the same thing....when i had a week to go the doctor was worried that my baby wasnt big enough, it was a different doc to the one i usually saw as he was on holidays. Anyway they sent me for an "emergency ultrasound" and everything was fine...my little man was 8 pound in the ultrasound..they thought he was a little short but he came out and was 52cm long so i wouldnt worry too much about it at all!!! Im sure everything will be ok....let us know how you go!

Hello

Please try not to worry but I had exactly the same thing. My FH was 5 - 6cms out when I was 35 weeks pregnant. An u/s confirmed everything was absolutely fine. Emily was born 41+3 weighing a totally normal 3.18kg. Good luck - I am sure it is fine. I have heard that FH is totally subjective and not a good guide to the size of bubs.

Hi

The same thing happened to me. At 34 weeks I only measured 31 so was sent for an ultrasound to check if everything was ok. Baby was fine, just very small but my placenta wasnt working properly so the baby wasnt growing. I was on weekly ultrasounds until 37 weeks when I went into labour. Baby was born 1.9kg 43cm but perfectly healthy. He is now 13 weeks and 5.1kg and doing great.

Good luck on wednesday, hope everything goes well for you.
