Okay, so don't worry, I'm not asking to tell you why you're wrong, because I'm a labor voter too.

Just wondering WHY you'll be voting in labor this year... is it to vote labor IN or to vote liberal OUT?

ETA - it's multi-choice in case you're voting labor for more than 1 reason... and I know that some of the answers are pretty much the same, but some people might not really like Rudd, but they might like Labor... just as some people might dislike Howard more than they dislike Liberal... if that makes sense. lol.

For me it comes down to getting Howard out.

I normally vote Green or independent but this election I've decided to vote Labor because I just want them gone and voting Labor is the best way to get that to happen.

Quite frankly I am at the point where Mickey Mouse could win this election and I would be happy just so we don't have to watch the social fabric of this country continue to unravel while JHo and his fatcat frontbench sit smugly atop their ever increasing surplus

I voted dont know yet because i am not 100% sure i am leaning more towards Rudd as:

I dont like that Howard has control of both senate and house of reps, this is quiet a big one for me.

I dont like Peter Costello JMO

The new IR laws affect us in a negitive way where DH is working.

There are more but will keep them to myself for a while

I am voting Labor for a number of reasons, such as the unfair IR laws, the no action from J-Ho on Climate change, Children overboard, the GST, AWB scandal, lies, lies and more lies. I think Kevin Rudd is the fresh change that Australia needs, he has new visions and fresh ideas for Australia. I am not interested in a Party whose number one priority is the economy, Mickey mouse could have had the current economy booming at the moment. I am not denying the importance of the economy, so I am trusting that Labor will also take care of it as well as putting health, education and the enviroment back on the agenda. Really though, I just keep coming back to those IR laws, hard working men and women, often on low wages are being robbed blind, and while I am not usually a fan of the term, it is 'UnAustralian'

I detest Howard's policies more than I love Rudd's.

Getting rid of Howard. He's my local member and I can't stand him - he's done a great disservices to this electorate and the country with his backwards, outdated view of the world and his reluctance to act on issues I feel are important - saving our environment, reconciliation, Medicare - and he absolutely blindsided us with Workchoices without so much as mentioning it last election. Very, very dishonest.

Most of my friends are voting to get Howard out. I personally do not hate him at all, as a person, and I respect that he has worked really hard for a decade. Being a politician, esp a PM, is a massive role.

However... the Liberals went waaaaay too extreme and over the top with the IR laws. Mr Howard is also getting very complacent, thinking that the economy is the only thing that matters in Australia and not bothering to think of any new ideas.

I am always a Labor voter, but this year in particular I will be voting *for* them. Their IR policy so much more balanced and better for workers as well as good for business. They have always been better on acknowledging climate change is a problem (!!!) and putting forward real solutions.

Also, I want a PM who understands the internet. Where is our highspeed broadband? At least Mr Rudd gets how important it is.

Lastly I think Mr Rudd has worked hard, and will use any power we choose to give him responsibly. I think that is what I feel in a nutshell. Oh and I really like Julia Gillard too, I admire her brains and her sense of humour about herself.

I'm with you charlen49, I'm a labor voter always have been, even my very first vote was for Bob Hawke, I believe that labor are there to help us working families, Liberal are in it to help the rich get richer, and to help the poor get poorer, and I also cannot stand the sight of Peter Costello:no::no:

I couldn't have put it better myself.
If we have so much money and aren't in debt than why is the health system the way it is, Couldn't the money be spent there and on education and alot of other things.

For me...I detest John Howard, he has had his turn and as far as I am concerned he has failed, a teletubbie could have done a better job.
We need someone new, all politicians are liars, making false promises they will never keep.
This year my vote will go to a new liar....Rudd...he can't stuff the country anymore than Howard already has.............or can he??? :detective:

IMO- I am a labour voter and always will be and proud of it. I just can't understand how the liberals and nationals can run a coalition when they stand for totaly different things. You don't even hear about the deputy. They make it sound like you are voting for the liberal party but you are also voting for the nationals:no: . Just doesn't make sense to me. it just goes to show that Liberals and nationals don't have the amount of support seperately that labour does. I hope that made sense:fingerscrossed:

I choose labor because, i DONT HAVE A PROBLEM WITH UNIONS, the liberals scare campaign makes me laugh, they wouldn't have a clue. Thats quite offensive to anyone who has been a victim of the "union" bullying tactics It is NO laughing matter for those poor people.
I would say that perhaps you dont have clue as to how awful they could be?

I don't think she meant it offensively... just that she thinks scare tactics are a joke... and then, separately from that, that she doesn't have a problem with unions.

I don't have a problem with unions. I'm sure some people have had problems with them too, but some people would have had problems with just about everything... doesn't make the whole lot of them "bad."

I dont feel that my comment was offensive considering, I have never experienced union bullying, even though my dad was a union official up in the Hunter Valley, they protect us workers they stand up for our rights, my DD who is only 17 would have been sacked recently, because of her smart ar$e boss, the union helped her keep her hrs that was intended for her, and i have a million other stories if you want to hear.

No thanks. Ive heard them in the other union thread- just like they are not all bad- they are not all good.
Anyway- looks like i might have misinterpreted your post.Apologies.

For me it's all about the person.

I am not a Labor supporter nor am I a Liberal supporter, I just vote for who I think will do a better job at running the country.

I think that person is Rudd. I have never been a great fan of Howard, and his (far too long) run as Prime Minister has further enforced that belief in my mind. So I will be voting Rudd, I like the majority of his policies and I would love to see what he could do for our country.

If come next federal election and there is a good candidate running for Liberal who I think would do a top job, I may very well vote for them!

I am voting for Labor because they might restore some balance to this country.
-Because they will Ratify the Kyoto agreement- thank god
-Because they may be able to undo some of the damage done by these IR laws
-Because they may be able to help our failing health sytem
- fund our schools properly
-Give back benifits to low income earners who need them
- Do something positive for unemployed people rather then ridiculous work for the dole schemes.
I could go on and on
